🦉🐦🔥(I apologize in advance for how long this will be!) I am one of the many people who thought of you when I saw this tag going around. I don't usually leave comments (I watch youtube on my tv so I have to go to a whole different device to do it) and the comments I've left on other videos about this don't seem to be showing up anymore, so I feel like maybe I said some things that people didn't like...But I want to try again here because I'm really happy you shared your perspective here. There are some people who have been responding to this and I've felt like..."I mean, you're kind of the problem..." And so I haven't watched those. But I very much was looking forward to hearing what YOU had to say. I've been participating in the online occult community since I was a pre-teen and I'm nearly 40 now, so it's been a hot minute. I'd definitely say that from my perspective, the community hasn't changed that much save for one big change that has made all the difference (and also made it much easier for the grifters to take root). I'm seeing the same problems, issues, even problem people that were issues to me before youtube even existed, and I'm used to seeing them come in cycles. But it seems like everything is coming faster and faster these days. And platforms like youtube, tiktok, instagram, have all taken the "You are the product" statement to a different level, which is what I think has made things so much worse than they were before. Back in the day, our identities were being sold just for ad views. And now we're selling our identities to *each other*, to the point where the idea of who even is IN the community has changed. If you're not creating (Arrgh) Content, then you're not in the "community", you're just a consumer. I think that's the biggest change, and it's made a lot of the ego problems the occult community tends to cultivate anyway much worse. I think that really played a role in the backlash that happened against you last year, because you not only threatened those egos, you also were speaking for people who don't get viewed as counting anymore. Like with tarot specifically, I miss when the tarot community was just...people who loved tarot. Like, it wasn't that we had an online community really, the internet was just a place, among others, where the community could interact. But it was understood that it was a bigger entity than any one point of access or anyone person or group of people. And I don't know if we're ever going to get that perspective back again, but it would be nice. And until or unless we do, the places where I want to participate online are shrinking. Also, as someone who joined your Patreon a few months ago, I really enjoy that you're there! I like putting on your readings while I'm trying to clean my room (I'm the kind of neurodivergent that's prone to mess, so it's a Sisyphean task to be sure and I appreciate everything that makes it easier) and I like listening to you just share your experiences. I feel like if more people could just share without feeling the need to teach things they don't actually understand, that would solve a lot of problems. And there are a lot of things and people that I don't want to give money to anymore because I think it feels gross, but I feel good being one of your patrons. (an additional also: I would just like to say, I've been through what you've been through on a different platform. A couple of times, to be honest, even just within the tarot and witchcraft communities. And like....I don't know, I just want you to know that you're not alone in your experience and your feelings. You didn't deserve the response you got. But those people are not the entire community, as much as they'd like to believe so. I think the benefit of being pushed away by those types is learning just how little any of them matter to the rest of us and to ourselves. And when we're cut off from them and we focus our time and attention to ourselves and the things that DO matter, we grow more than we would have with them. At least, that's been my experience. I hope it's like that for you too.)
That’s the thing, right. Community is a BIG old messy bunch of people. That’s a good thing…and online social media wants to make us into archetypes. It’s just a new vehicle of patriarchy. But at least our voices are here if we use them. 😎

having an inner shitass and sweetie pie has me in tears that's so funny and true. i dont feel like having a small paywall for the people willing to pay it is a bad thing if it is creating a space that you feel safe talking and being in. ive seen creators in tarottube and other niches have a $1 patreon with like, discord server access, simply to put a small boundary between them and people with maybe not the best intentions. that dollar actually makes the space safer for everyone 🐦🦉
I'm split on the pay thing cuz even a dollar prevents some from participating as there are only so many 1 dollar patrons you can join before 1 dollar becomes 5, 10, 20 dollars + every single 1 dollar membership is actually 2,5 dollars when you're not American and has to pay exchange fee and tax on that 1 dollar payment. But yeah ppl should do what's right for them, cuz it's absolutely ok to be super selective in who you give access to your "spaces".
i hadnt even considered currency differences. very good point. the great thing about discord access, for example (and from my understanding), is that you can have it set up so access to the server is permanent, and not dependent on a current subscription to any other service. so it ends up being only a single payment!
So sorry you’re having a tough time at the moment. I think I broke the algorithm a while back with my confusing video selections - it now finds (predominantly) the really REAL people (I don’t like the term ‘content creators’) out there for me. Social media is addictive and it is way too easy to forget that life happens when we aren’t glued to our phones/social media. Thank you for sharing - I’m off to read a book! 🐦

You should've never been pitchforked for ✨the video✨. People don't like hearing differing opinions and there's a lot of keyboard warriors online. Nobody would've said any of that stuff to you in person. If they try to stifle your voice then you don't want them around anyway. Thank you for sharing your VR to this! I do think there needs to be more of a nuanced understanding of what it is to be a human and to present oneself in a 45-minute video or a 30 second reel. No one person is perfect or should be expected to be able to phrase something how everyone will take it for what it means, or to account for all ways in which something may be received; and not to mention everybody makes mistakes, so there should be so much less finger pointing, blaming, shaming and cancelling of folks that are genuine, authentic and have good intentions. There should be more room for hiccups or for diverse interpretations and understandings of a statement or sentence or feeling; especially with a community made up of many folks with a spectrum of neurodiversity and with differing beliefs and values; how are we spiritual, how are we doing our shadow work and walking the walk if we are so quick to point the finger and project our shadows onto others. I loved the part where you said (something like) - dont criticize the person, criticize the community - very fuck the system esque, which I love 🦢 I think first saw your show one year ago with "that thing" and I've loved you ever since🦩 I saw a great talk over on FabSocialism channel and one of the conclusions was that Patreon is there for people who have the means and want to support your work - nobody really cares about getting lots or sometimes even any extra content so don't worry about that, youre doing great 🦜❤
