If you wanna make biofuel from Mekanism, melons are by far the best option. Botany pots grow entire melons, which can be split into 9 slices with a compact drawer for 4 biofuel each. That's 36 biofuel per melon.
Cookies actually are the single best option. You get 7 biofuel per cookie and 8 cookies per craft, which only costs 2 wheat and 1 cocoa beans. You can hopper pot the wheat but not the cocoa beans, not that it's an issue as cocoa beans grow quickly on jungle logs, which are easy to get with wood essence.
Another solution is to hopper pot into a drawer controller connected to two drawers; one for potatoes which hoppers (or Refined Storage Exporters from External Storage on the controller as well) into the crusher and the other is for the poisonous potatoes with a stack downgrade and voiding.
@@DizzyDJW Thats like a whole another level of complexity for marginal efficiency, overall not really worthy given dire resources. Melons are basically 1 botany pot, 1 drawer + 1 compacting drawer and a pipe with a filter, it fits in a 3*2*1 also it's really scalable
Melons are definitely the best since you can grow one melon and you get 9 slices. I have a setup on my ocean block that produces over 200k Rf per tick using 3 phytogenic insolators with melon. All you need is a compacting drawer
@@ChaoGirDja That's the wrong kind of gas. Ethylene (also known as Natural Gas) is the hydrocarbon used for gas burning stoves, ovens, and boilers in homes around the world. Gasoline is not used for this purpose, pretty much ever, I think mainly because it stinks pretty badly. Ethylene does not - it's pretty close to odorless. Anyway Gasoline is used almost exclusively for combustion engines of various types. I assume Dire is just getting ahead of himself with Liquid Ethylene vs regular Ethylene.
@@jeffwells641 Ähm... No? Natural Gas is Methan, not Ethylen... And because Ethylen in liquid state is realy dangerous and have to be stabelised... no body used it for anythink you mentiont. And... sadly Gasoline-Burnes for Light, Heat and so one, are a common thing in mostly poor countrys.
@@ChaoGirDja Natural gas is a mixture of hydrocarbons (Mostly methane as you probably already know) Ethylene is just a hydrocarbon from the alkene group which can be found in natural gas. (In significantly reduced quantities) Ethylene is commonly used to make plastics.
Yo, just wanted to say thanks for the sweet content, found your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve been steady watching this series as well as watching old packs, like stoneblock was pretty cool, I liked your season 10 pack a lot, Tetra is a mod a lot of people just don’t use, overall I’m glad I dropped the sub and I look forward to more of your videos!!
Direwolf20 you being so optimistic really brings back the memories of how fun minecraft could truly be and it brings back childhood memories of waiting for the next episode of the modpacks I used to watch thank you man you are doing great ; )
When is dire getting the magma block for high temperature jar crafting. Lava is produced much faster with high temp. Also a lapidary dynamo is quite good to have, as those gems are pretty much useless.
I started with a lava generator that dire started with and two lapidary dynamos so i can burn both saphires and rubies at the same time lol, just recently made three basic reactors that run off of uranite, i forget what the mod is called exactly. Made 4 energy storage blocks that hold 500k rf each and really just wsiting on more diamonds to expand them.
So much easy power in this. Lava into magmators is basically free with cobblegen. Blursed earth mob farm makes so much raw food you can run multiple culinary generators merely as a byproduct. Likewise with seeds you can power various generators with wood, saplings etc. Zombie flesh is fuel too! Good way to manage all the junk which accumulates but until late game, e.g. Draconic, lava and solar is all you really need.
Wind generators are super easy, and at the height of your island, make around 100 FE/tick. The biggest cost is gold, which ceases to be a problem once you start exploring the ocean floor. I'm running 10 of those, one lapidary dynamo with the second upgrade, and a magmatic dynamo hooked to a jar/cobble generator. This runs two netherite sluices and all my mekanism machines, each with 8 speed and 8 energy upgrades quite easily. I actually had to turn off my sluices for a bit, since I need to sort out my storage. I want to try something other than AE or refined storage for a change of pace.
22:56 I've had similar happen with a MA resource crop in a hopper pot over a drawer, when I replaced the drawer with a chest, it produced one of the secondary drops. So it might be that poisonous potatoes can't be crushed and is clogging the system there. Edit: Ah, not quite what I thought it was, but still, good to be aware that secondary drops can stuff up single drawers :P
I would love to see Dire build an underwater base for once. by that I mean a base on the surface that goes down, and has windows to let you see out into the ocean. like an inverted skyscraper. seabed scraper? Dire always builds downwards, which is a bit unexciting, as one basement looks much like any other. But here, there is actually a view when building downwards. ;) (watch him build upwards the one time it would make sense to build downwards.) ♥
The phytogenic insolator is pretty good, I am running 4 gas generators with one fully upgraded insolator using phyto-gro as fertilizer from all the sluice-junk producing potatoes. Also when did Dire become such a aqueous accumulator denier?
I think he said once that he doesn't like "free" resource collection like the aqueous accumulator. Even though it's just water, he'd rather pay the little bit of rf/t than have it collected free
You should really set up auto hammers to create sand, dirt, gravel, dust in an automatic process. Diamond hammers don't require power and they work pretty fast. I have 3 that feed straight into my sluice setup then a refined storage subsystem that automatically turns it into ingots and voids the junk like cinnabar, niter, sulfur, gems, etc before converting the useful materials to blocks and passing it to my main refined storage system through a buffer chest
Cinnabar isn't junk, though. When used as a catalyst in an induction furnace, you get tons of diamonds and emeralds out of the clusters you sluice up. Much more than from the enrichment chamber, which gives two, or even the mechanical squeezer, which gives three.
@@felipevasconcelos6736 Yeah, I have no idea why their output buffer is so huge. If you output them into a storage drawer with a void upgrade as the last step before the sluicing though, you can prevent them from ever backing up.
Been subbed all these years and every now and then I find myself sucked into these again Still enjoy them just as much as ever I do miss the multiplayer series tho
Fire, you probably have the materials you need to get an Ultimate Crafting table. With that you can make a Creative Power Cell and fix all power issues.
I think wheat works pretty good for biofuel production because both the extra seeds produced and wheat can both be turned into biofuel. I would have to double check that but I think that is the case for wheat but not every plant is like that. Most plants you can only turn the crop into biofuel.
Hey Dire, Krates have a hopper upgrade. They can push/pull to/from adjacent inventories. Maybe you can also pair it with a filter upgrade to make it more compact. Haven't tested it myself but maybe it'll work.
What I always do with the poisonous potato problem is lock a 1x2 drawer to potato and poisonous potato, then slap a void upgrade on it. Have the botany pot output to the drawer, then stick that on top of the crusher. No more problem.
Dire put the hopper back pointing into a drawer with a poisonous potato in the drawer. then the hopping botany above the hopper this will allow you to run it with the potato. because the normal hopper can still output under it if there is an inventory slot. this way poisonous potato will go into the drawer and the normal potato will go into the crusher.
You get a huge amount of uranite, and the loot items give me a decent start towards Powah reactor and flux points. Not yet needed more than the basic reactor.
@@canhamcan I just used a starter since i dont need alot of power yet, but it is a really easy solution for power for only a bit of uraninite (i have thousands of uraninite sitting in my rs, maybe the sluice being connected to my rs wasnt my brightest idea)
Mekanism's power options are definitely way better than any other mod he has access to. A bucket of ethylene is 12mrf, 20 biofuel makes a bucket of ethylene. Each potato is making 2mrf here. The gas-powered genny makes 80krf/t.
I use dandelions with botany pots, along with 6 gas generators, and I really don't run into any issues (unless I'm running one of those advanced botany pots - may need to get into Powah reactors for that). Still, the solar panel is an eyesore? Let's talk about the direwire. :) 31:16 - I was screaming "Finally!!!" here, after 15 minutes. lol Event more compact would be an aqueous accumulator.
Best biofuel production is mystical agriculture nature essence being crafted into melons and then turning the melons into 9 slices which give 4 biofuel each. So 36 biofuel per melon and 16 melons per 9 nature essence. Requires a bit more automation but that should be no problem for dire.
You can put melon seeds directly into a bonsai plot and it produces full melon blocks, which you can cut into 9 melon slices and use to produce biofuel. It requires far less automation than mystical agriculture nature essence
Easiest way is to automate lava and use Powah magmatic generator. You could have done that much earlier. The high heat block makes the lava recipe down to 1 bucket per 8 seconds or so. Enough to power multiple magmatic generators.
I have a question, Is it worth having multiple RS systems for let’s say each modpack or ore generator and then feeding them into a AE system?? Or am I over complicating things?
Dire industrial Foregoing (at least in 1.12.2) have a machine called Plant Interactor. It is used to harvest crops by simulating a right click without breaking the base plant. And get Material StoneWork Factory, it can produce cobblestone, gravel, sand, and other materials on high rate. P.S. sorry for bad English
I find that autohammers work better than the material stonework factory, at least when it comes to gravel or sand. They don't use any power and are easy to make.
hey so I know a way to do the potato thing but it depends on if you are willing so what you might need to do is set a drawer under the hopper bonsai pot on top of the crusier so that the crusher would just take the potatoes, not the poison one and make a void upgrade for the poison ones hope this helps you.
I think that is more efficient if u use nature essence with the mekanism crafter to produce potatoes, smelt them end use them to produce bio fuel. power for all of this extra process is such a little part of what 1 gas burning gas gen can do that doesn't impact the production once it's started. If I don't remember it wrong u'll need 3 and a quarter PRC fully upgrade to overcome the ethalyne request of three gas burning gen . Each of them capable of producing around 70kRF/t ... power for days
I've found this pack very hard to stay on track. Every time I get a quest reward its something that drags me away onto something new. My main setup is igneous making basalt into crusher and sluice, then moving netherack byproduct back to crisher and sluice. And three material stonework factories making gravel sand and dust straight into sluices. And powah reactor for RF
Question in refined storage how does he make it auto craft things that are part of a recipe? Example he was making a hopper he didn't have a chest without looking chest up he auto crafted it
26:15 so you just stick a draw between them its a little less neat but it fixs your setup without the need to craft a different machine (i know the message is no help to him now but to anyone reading this thats how ied fix it)
I think Dire should do an updated mod spotlight on Blood Magic. So much has changed since I last played it in 1.7.10, that I'm kind of stuck with the tartartic gems right now. I'm at the point where I think I need to use the crystallizer, which the book says to put a tartartic gem in, but right clicking it does nothing (I only have a common gem)... I feel like DIre's going a bit quick with this mod in this pack. lol.
you spent a whole lot of time optimizing your botany pot option when you could have just like... made more pots and used hoppers to pipe items into the crusher.
@@khkachn yeah you can get a bit disoriented or motionsick, but I took some small break now and then. I have played American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 in vr and it might have helped with some of the motionsickness. But I'm having to much fun
The main problem here, is that Oceanblock is based around the Sluice. So trying to find ways around it (using mystical ans stuff) is just so wrong and intended for midgame. You should already have two or three sluices running full time producing all the resources automatically. Also lapidary generator produces a good amount of power from rubys and saphires that aren't needed for anything else. Lava setup can always be improved/expanded to fit the needs. I know Dire doesn't read comments because of backlog, but maybe this is helpful for someone else...
Direwolf's Episode view count going down the crapper could be because he derps up so much. Also, says I need to make the machines faster, level the island and a host of other things, yet what does he do? Nothing!
@@JamesStansell Good 'ol Dire, busy with his main agendas. At least he knows this mod stuff more than me and I just watch it for entertainment and its complexity.
@@JamesStansell Yea, but from what I have seen there are far fewer options in the config file. With the bonsai pots I loved how much you could change them in terms of behavior and looks. It seems that the only benefit to botany pots is the multiple colors, but maybe I missed something.
@@MegaLokopo I'm not sure about looks, but I believe the recipes can be changed using the standard Minecraft data packs. Some modpacks may also use kubejs to adjust the behavior.
@@MegaLokopo I remember seeing a datapack directory named sf_one in the sky factory one modpack. OceanBlock likely has a similar setup if you examine it. The seaopolis modpack may interest you because it made a lot of changes to the botany pots, mostly removing the items that would grow in them.
Dire you are awesome. From what I can tell, you are the last Minecraft RU-vidr that just makes survival let's plays. Yes you do modded but everything I see is over produced and everything. You are awesome and simple and I wake up every day and watch you vids. Keep up the amazing work dire
Please update your playlists for your last few series. Both this series as well as Dyson Sphere Project don't exist and enigmatica 6 only has 22 episodes in it. I do thank you for the video.
