Thank you so much for all of your hard work in the games industry, Mr LeBlanc. The first two Thief games are my favourites of all time and I loved playing through the System Shock games and Deus Ex and I rarely find anything out there as immersive and intense as these even after all of this time. It’s also great to see how passionate you are with your work with these System Shock walkthroughs and it’s always so fresh and insightful to see these being done by someone involved in the creation of the game itself. The music in executive when you first get in the level is so fitting…. It’s not too much but just enough to make you realize “oh shit, this is getting serious”
IDK if someone else pointed it out but ctrl F didnt find it, flechette rounds for shotguns exist and were designed to be slightly more accurate over longer ranges than traditional shot.
Thanks for the video again! When you were exploring the top section of the Grove I remember I found some railgun ammo up there in one of the Groves, I used the Sensaround to spot them on my minimap, otherwise it can just be brutal to find stuff in environments at times. Chess reward would be worth it... But understandable skipping it, I did exactly as you said, I cheated with a chess bot open in my Steam Overlay :''D Looking forward to hearing more stories in the future, whether it be System Shock development history, or some other titles you've worked on that you can think of!
Do you or any of your friends who helped make system shock have a blog for explaining system shocks mechanics? Also I love the 4:3 display, unconventional today but shows you are old school.
So it seems only Beta Grove can be jetissoned... I also thought "yea, right, this game of chess can't be that useful, it has to be a little easter egg and that's it. So I did it mindlessly, lost in 4 moves and moved on. I do like checking game guides to know everything a game has to offer every now and then without having to put in the time of actually discovering the secrets. Reading this one was a big "Ouch" moment...after I had already lost the match. Didn't know I can just reset it though, so, guess i'll give it a shot again.
Depending on your puzzle level (1-3 whatever you have it set to) will scale the chess A.I. difficulty…. This was horrible on level 3… so bad I had to use a chess engine to pick the best moves for me so I’d win…. Even that way took a few tries, I’m actually genuinely impressed with the chess ai on this game lol
