Nice video and good stories. Making things more efficient and saving time is what it's all about, so you can focus on what's important.

As usual, much wisdom from a veteran of the shooting sports. Thanks Mr. Thor's Axe👍👍👍

As you know, feeling match pressure to excel, you don't need "Man it took a lot of time and expense to make these rounds".

You said it brother, self-sufficiency is key in this sport. We need to be ready for whatever comes down the pipe, be it market shortages or a shelter in place event.

manny, We have talked, also we are old school in this, same with Mr. Cookie. when times are good and nobody is worried, that is the time to look at what you have on stock, If you think you can fit it in, order some, you are going to use it.

I understand and agree with you. I still use my Lyman 45 to size powder coat bullets and I load with a turret press. For me it’s something that keeps me occupied. But I also have the time to do it. Before I was retired I hated sizing bullets because it took time away from shooting. Now I don’t worry about it.

Excellent discussion 👍 we have the technology, A bullet feeder that can feed a progressive press and a sizer is in the making.

Dave - Great to be able to communicate with you - I had a case of pneumonia back in February that knocked me out of action for a month. Then I got over that in time for our Star Trek Cruise that ended just last weekend - just before all this COVID thing got bad...cruises are now to be avoided and cruse lines as well as passengers are canceling. This is a fine informative video...I often noticed that if I wasn't careful doing the base first, the bullets could go into the die cockeyed and that is definitely bad for accuracy...so I got into the habit of doing my best to get that bullet centered before running it through the die and lubing. Never occurred to me to put the bullet in nose first a la Star or Lee. Best to ya, Dave -- Steve

Our wants and needs coincide with each other. I'm in the middle of a similar predicament myself, wanting to get a 3D printer to make a bullet feeder, yadda yadda. That way I can also use it to make any other thing I desire. If I ever get a Dillon, I can make toolhead holders, little trinkets, etc. Good talk, Dave. I can relate 100%.

I got one tinman. I like the ender3D pro. With saying that the printer is still in the box at my shop. I had some stuff come up but have. You looked at the magazine and lower printing you can do?

Your right Dave, the Desire of not taking days to size and lube bullets so I got a Star unit and not wanting to feed the bullets by hand I made a bullet feeder for it. Glad the bullet feeder is doing good for you, somewhere in the near future we’ll have to see about a 2nd one so you don’t have to change over all the time. Now if I could find a 25 rpm gear motor I’d put that on the Star for full automation, but that’s just a thought. Back to the nose up presses you also had to have nose punches for each style bullet and nose down you only need a flat punch. OK dude take care

Good chat Dave. 👍. I wasn’t bored at all. Yeah my desire right now is to expand the capabilities of my 550. I think that will be a bigger time saver for me than an APP would be right now. I love your shot maker, but I don’t shoot enough to make it worth it right now. On average we shoot trap about once a month. 👍

Cranky, Just you bringing up what you said during the live chat kick started everyone getting into a think tank over this subject. It was a good thing.-Dave

your right with the lube matic if you use the advised top punch for the bullet the bullets gets unround.( asymmetric) i use a flat grinded polish top punch ,and that is somewhat better , and now a lee sizer you feed the bullet nose first and that works better and faster ,and withpowder coating nothing lube needed or some soap

Instead of building a new bench, maybe an in-linefabrication mount would be helpful? Can have one or as many mounts as you want. You can interchangeably swap them out and he has nice steel wall mount racks to organize them when not in use. Forgive me if you already know this. New to your channel. inlinefabrication.com/collections/quick-change-press-mounting-system
