Oklahoma Hiking: Black Mesa, the Oklahoma state High Point, Kenton, OK.
After a long drive in the middle of nowhere, I arrived at about 10AM to the trailhead. I sign at the trailhead indicates to not start the hike after 10 in hot weather. Fortunately, the temps were rather temperate on the day. I don't think anything would have stopped me, though, after the long drive to get there. The trail is mostly unshaded while passing through the plains. It eventually climbs to the summit of Black Mesa where an informational obelisk sits on the summit. One more state high point down. It will take many years to find time to do the rest of them (if ever), so I was very pleased to be able to get this one in.
