Cher’s 80’s and early 90’s music is probably her best music. She went through like a rock phase which to me worked for her. Glad you’re enjoying it. Emotional Fire from her Heart Of Stone album is on FIRE! You’d love it!

Boy! You could not stop smiling on this video! I have seen her performances live 17 times dating back to her and Sonny! There would be no Madonna, no Jlo and no Britney no Lady Ga Ga!! CHER started it all! She is an American treasure to have and to behold. No other DIVA like her. Thanks for posting it's always a highlight of my day when you come on. !!

Cher is one of my favs. A couple of weeks ago I Tweeted one of her songs from her 1975 album, Stars. She actually responded to my Tweet. She said she liked the song, but wished it were more up-tempo. Then said maybe a re-recording was possible. So that was awesome. Great reaction as usual. I would take it back to the 1970's and react to Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves.

Cher kinda transitions from this sound on her next major album after this one, “It’s a Man’s World,” in 1995. Then Believe hits in 1998 and rockets her into house disco. I know you said in a previous video that you used to think Believe and that ilk sounded fake but I implore you to give her post 1998 career a shot. She still brings it in terms of voice, she just adds some flair. I dare you not to dance to any of her late 90s early 2000s stuff. LOVING these reactions. Just subbed.

Ik pretty much everything abt Cher so let me correct u on what u said at the end of vid. Cher is the only artist, male or female, of any genre to have a #1 song on ANY billboard chart (billboard is the music charts company of the US) in each of the last 6 decades. This feat was accomplished when her song “You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me”, recorded for her movie Burlesque, reached #1 on the US dance club songs chart back in 2011. Her latest #1 on any billboard chart is “Woman’s World” which went to #1 on the same chart in 2013. Covid hasn’t helped her have a #1 song this decade because she’s so far left politically (hope you understand how that, covid, and live tv promotion relate and I’m not confusing you) and when she released each of the 4 songs she’s put out so far this decade, she wasn’t ready to travel the world and promote them on live tv a lot quite yet. If covid wasn’t around, I could easily see her cover of “Stop Crying Your Heart Out”, recorded as part of the BBC radio 2 allstars group for 2020, at #1 on a billboard chart. But she and the other ppl on 2020’s BBC Radio 2 Allstars would have to make time to all of them to get together and promote their cover on live tv A LOT worldwide. If that had happened I rly think what I said two sentences ago could’ve happened.
@metrecht
@metrecht 2 года назад
Stop crying your heart out did hit number 1 but doesn't count as a Cher song since it was recorded as the BBC all stars. I love they featured her so much though.

This song shows how she owns her stage, and commands attention...a powerhouse voice if ever there was one. I love how you get into Cher....She's my go to favorite solo performer. Her songs even up to today are so strong. Check out her hit single from "Burlesque" called "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" ....it's beyond astounding. She was 64 years old when she recorded it. Top of her game. The lyrics of that song actually define her as literally lasting forever...."You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" was the number one single that gave her a SIX decade run as the only performer in history to have achieved that.

Yeah Cher had some crazy good rock/pop songs. Foot tapping & just very energy driven rock. You can't not move & smile when you listen to this. You have very good takes on the intricacies of music, artists, genres, & styles. You teach me a lot even though I've grown up on these songs. Not sure if you have interests in movies/tv the same as you do music but if so that would be so interesting to hear as well.

Another fantastic Cher song and reaction from you. Her energy, passion, fire and spirit are all contagious af. Those early - 80s style production power-ballads lasted on records that came out into 1992, as they had been written and even sometimes recorded around late 89/early 90. The curtain came down on this type of power ballads with the explosive arrival of grunge and alt by late 92. You need to listen to both Love on a Rooftop and Emotional Fire 🔥- both fantastic!!

So, you have gone from never hearing her to claiming that she is one of the most charismatic artists that you have watched on the channel and saying "everything we have done by Cher has been great." Hand picked all these to reel you in. LOL. Glad you see what us Cher fans do. She is a legend. No one can question that. Still relevant after all these years. Shakira who? HAHAHA

Love this!! ❤️ Before you jump to “Believe” (1998), you should do reactions of three other ‘90s Cher videos: “Love And Understanding” (1991), “Walking In Memphis” (1995), and “One By One” (Original Version) (1996). There’s also “I Got You Babe” with Beavis and Butthead (1993) and “Love Can Build A Bridge” with Chrissie Hynde and Neneh Cherry (and Eric Clapton on guitar) (1995).

I'd say this with each decade too... The new sound usually comes in the 3rd or 4th year of the decade. So 1993 or 1994 for the 90s sound. Just like 2021 and 2022 was just a continuation of the 2010s :)

Late 80s and early 90s was my teenage years. The 80s didn't end suddenly as I saw it, it kind of blended into the 90s and there were 80s-sounding songs being big hits till '91 or '92. At the same time, the 90s style kind of sneaked up on us gradually from the late 80s and just got louder and more mainstream. That big-stadium power-rock sound of the 80s just gradually got less and less fashionable as hip-hop and dance records (which had started to become really influential in the late 80s) gathered strength and kind of flipped things over in the early 90s. As a general rule of thumb you could do worse than saying the 80s truly came to an end around the time of Freddie Mercury's death in November of '91. After that it was more and more about hip-hop, gangsta rap, rave, trance, techno etc - and mainstream rock/metal kind of started taking a back seat and evolving into something more 'alternative' with grunge (and indie records in the UK) ... and later on in the 90s a resurgence of punk fused with ska in a more pop, radio-friendly form. Anyways, that's my take on it as a music-loving guy born in '74 who (briefly) had my own college radio slot in the mid-90s :D

I would say the 80s sound vanished all together around '94. MTV focused on Grunge, and Nirvana. Rock songs had a more depressing edge to them. I remember No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, The Spice Girls, and that Macarena song being in hot rotation in the late 90s. 🤣 Not my cup of tea though. I'm loyal to the 80s music. Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson's songs became more mellow.
