Cher is an absolute stone-cold legend. She's got more sass, sex appeal, and talent than you can shake a stick at. She has won an Oscar, an Emmy, and Grammy award. Her dresses and outfits over the years have been the stuff of legends and the delight (or scandal) of the public. Cher just rocked everything she put on, even if it was held together by just a string or a piece of tape. If you're looking for some other female pop groups from the 80s, you might want to check out some stuff from The Go-Go's. 'Our Lips Are Sealed', 'Vacation', and 'We've Got The Beat' are pretty catchy.

Well Cher was big in 1960’s and 70’s and 1990’s too! She’s a brilliant actress too. She won an Oscar for best female in film Moonstruck.

I've been a huge Cher fan since 1965 when she sang "" I've Got You Babe "" with her husband Sonny Bono. I never missed the Sonny and Cher comedy hour on TV . It ran from 1971-1974. No one compares to Cher. So many hit songs over the years. Such an incredible voice. And an amazing actress too..❤️

I love these female singers that bring such attitude to their songs and with Cher's unique voice it's no wonder that she has had career that spans decades. 3 other tracks I would recommend: Save Up All Your Tears, her cover of Walking in Memphis, & We All Sleep Alone

I'm so fond of Cher's duet with Peter Cetera (from band Chicago). Two amazing voices together. It's called After All. Video is cool too as you can see a young Robert Downey Jr. in it, the song was used for the movie he was in, Chances Are.

Memories! Your reactions are always so cool & genuine. This video caused a bit of controversy when it came out. MTV would not show it until after 11pm and people had a problem with her teen son playing rhythm guitar in this video, because of her outfit.😁

Cher is definitely an music icon, I would suggest you listen to more of her music, I’ve been lucky to see her in concert 3 times! She has had a number 1 hit every decade! Too many songs are my favorites to list! Just a side note, you’re missing out not listening to the 70’s music, you may be listening to the wrong songs, just my opinion ❤️

I think she can turn back time. She has a fabulous plastic surgeon. She is in her 70’s and is fabulous. This was on a real ship with real sailors. It took hundreds of people to construct her costume !!!

Loved this reaction. I like some Cher songs. I looked through your library and didn’t find what I was looking for. If you haven’t done it could you review Adam Lambert’s rendition of Believe when Cher was honored at the Kennedy Center. I wasn’t really crazy about hers but Adam was outstanding and even Cher cried! It takes skill and guts for someone to do her hit in front of her! I really appreciate how meaningful your reviews are!

I know what you mean when you said that there is just something about 80s music. I agree. Then, music was about a message yes but the artist had the talent to back up the message. Plus the beat was dance friendly. No auto tune.

I love seeing your reaction, being so much younger....Cher is, to people over 50, the biggest entertainer of the last 60 years....has entertained more people than any living solo artist. "If I Could Turn Back Time" was a massive hit, reaching the top of the charts....and was her second biggest hit behind "Believe" in 1999....and she holds the record of being the oldest solo artist to ever achieve a number one hit in "Believe." Which introduced autotune to the masses.

This was released in 1989 and I remember what a scandal that outfit caused. Interestingly, her son Elijah Blue Allman (with second husband Greg Allman of the Allman brothers) is in the video. He is playing a guitar, wearing dark sunglasses and a Jimi Hendrix t-shirt. She bumps him with her butt.

I think popular music today completely derives from the 80’s. Also, the 80’s production was BIG and bombastic which is totally energizing and just pleasing to the ear. I was a small child in the 80’s but I find it MUCH more nostalgic than the mid-late 90’s music from when I was highschool. Also, on a side note, I was NOT allowed to watch this video back in the day due to her wearing electrical tape. 😭

There are a lot of things in the 80s that revolutionised popular music, but I think it would be difficult to prove that melody was one of the things that changed. It largely follows genre anyway, doesn’t it? However, rock music in the 70s was extremely blues-based - (three chords and the pentatonic scale) - and that fundamentally changed with post-punk and new wave in the 80s, which brought a lot of other influences into the rock idiom, not the least the concept of the pop song. But apart from that I think what changed was primarily recording technology: Digital synthesisers, samplers, drum machines, effect units - all of which were sometimes used in excess, forming the sonic footprint of the 80s. It has a very distinct sound that can’t be mistaken for any other decade because of this: First versions of brand new tech that everyone went nuts with. And I love it.

Weirdly, the first reactor in the history of YT to not make a single comment on Cher's nudity in this video. Back in the day, MTV banned the video for being too racy. She's certainly one of the greatest female vocalists in the history of music. Her 2013 song "Sirens" would be a good place to explore the amazingness of her vocal. For more capturing this vibe, "I Found Someone," "Emotional Fire," Save Up All Your Tears," or "Heart of Stone" would be good songs to visit.

I love 70's first and 80's is a close 2nd (nearly a tie). I'm no music expert by any means, but this is what I think you might be drawn to about 80's music: It seems that many of the hits have a similar pattern - start slow and build up; slow again and build up, etc., etc., then slow again then build up to the "finale", then fade out. It's a pattern that is pleasing to my ear too. My favorite Cher song is "Believe". I bet you will recognize it too! I hope you are not working too hard during your "vacation"! 😉
