I opened my 9343 for the first time yesterday and definitely needed a pry tool to get the back cover off. Maybe it's easier on subsequent opens?
@OpenMeUpTec
@OpenMeUpTec 7 лет назад
open it from the hinge side alot easier
@curtisbme
@curtisbme 6 лет назад
on my 9350 there is no way you are getting it off without a tool. Hooks all over required a lot of effort to get off and I did start from the back and side to try to hide where I might cause scratch marks. The swollen battery probably didn't help things but no way do I see any way I could have removed it without the tiny screwdriver I had or a pry tool.
@mcericx
@mcericx 6 лет назад
it will get easier over time as the clips will break off. imo theres no way to avoid that.
@hube235

True. I opened the back of one of these up for the first time, and it was no easy task, even with a pry tool.

if you missing one of the 8 small screws on the bottom it should be a m2.5x3mm

please note they are not m2.5x3mm they are smaller they are m2x3mm torx screws, you can get them from www.laptopscrewsdirect.com

ok cool. So if I want to remove the whole display, do you have to unscrew other parts such as fan, motherboard etc..?
@OpenMeUpTec
@OpenMeUpTec 8 лет назад
You know the display cost alot. You will find the the screen is the whole display with webcam and other stuff which is why it will cost alot. It will probably cost you half the price of the laptop just to purchase it unless otherwise such as you got one for a low price. It is pretty simple just remove the 2 hinge screw on both left and right side that's basically it

@@darrensmith1047 it should rotate if you try hard enough. if it does not DO NOT REMOVE IT as this is extremely important screw so if it is stuck leave it and leave the heat sink alone. if you can remove the other heat sink screws then you can rotate the heat around the stuck screw and see if it comes off but i do not recommend it.

Is it possible to replace just the screen aluminium back cover, or do you need to replace the whole screen? Is it also possible to change just the hinges? I dropped the laptop on the corner and the hinges took a beating so the screen is a bit loose and not in line with the keyboard.
@OpenMeUpTec
@OpenMeUpTec 7 лет назад
you can replace them individually but then they don't sell it like that so you need to replace the whole thing. I called up dell sometime ago asking for a cable they made me buy the whole screen as they don't sell the cable alone

when laptops are repaired they use faulty parts that they repair previously that why once it is replace the failure rate is a lot higher. this isn't just dell everyone else does this as well like apple hp and Lenovo
@youlubester
@youlubester 7 лет назад
so they use refurbished product? When I called Dell I specifically ask them for a brand new motherboard instead of a refurbished one. They said okay. Oh well, at least I'm getting a brand new laptop tomorrow. Dell XPS really isn't that good with all its issues, considering a lot of people rated it the best laptop of 2017.
