I love my open pilot!! I drive a vw jetta and I feel so luxurious, and very chill, especially when driving to and from work.

Thanks for the video and info. I just bought a new Accord EXL with limited autonomy and one thing I wish it had, but doesn't is just the slow driving auto stopping or stopping assist. It works if you're in cruise control for general around town, but like going through a neighborhood or just in stop and go it would be cool if it handled the braking lets say more than the acceleration. The Touring model has this and its called low speed brake assist.

What does it mean when you say “Honda Limited Steering Torque”? Does it limit how hard it will turn? I just ordered a Comma 2 for my 2020 Honda Accord Touring - I should get it this week.
@LetitDrive
@LetitDrive 3 года назад
Yes, limit on the amount of torque that the computer will apply to the steering wheel. It's limited by Hondas software. Hondas have the same torque with / without Openpilot. Toyota and Hyundais otherhand are doing better on curvy road but they also have limitations.
@AxemanMessiah

Awesome video! I noticed you have to take over on some turns (you mentioned the limited steer control), how do you know if/when OpenPilot cannot due it? Wouldn't it be too late? That has been my main concern from buying this, thanks!

Hey, thanks! 😊 I got used to it. Steering is Honda software limited and mostly problem when driving curvy roads and in city but still I use it as much as possible. 🙂. Openpilot with Toyotas and Huyndai have better steering torque (I think my next car would Toyota) Backroads: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JzZGcfcjX3E.html

@@LetitDrive Cool video! how much more steering does openpilot have compared to Honda's stock Adaptive Cruise Control? Can you quantify it in terms of degrees?
@LetitDrive
@LetitDrive Год назад
Hey, thanks 😊! Openpilot equipped Honda can handle curves way better than stock system, but its steering torque will still be limited by your cars EPS firmware. I would say Honda with Openpilot is perfect for highway roads. Personally I would rather pick Toyota/Lexus. Here You can see rating for steering torque: github.com/commaai/openpilot/blob/master/docs/CARS.md#supported-cars

Can you set open pilot to show km/h? Also can you set the increments when you increase or decrease the cruising speed?
@LetitDrive
@LetitDrive 3 года назад
Hey, Yes it's very easy to change it, by default it's mph but from Comma Two menu You can change it to km/h. Changing cruising speed works same as stock Honda system.

Hi! Im curious about the device itself. Isn’t it prone to thief if you leave it on while parked? Do you remove it every time you parked it?
@LetitDrive
@LetitDrive 3 года назад
Hey, definitely a risk; but I don't remove it every time. Depends where I park. Removing is easy, unplugg the USB-c cable and wiggle it out of the windshield mount. You can ask your insurance would they cover the value if it gets stolen..

Just got a comma2 and using on Honda Odyssey, openpilot disengages once it comes to a full stop as Honda has min 25 Miles/hr limitation to start. Do any custom forks help get rid of the limitation so car will start from full halt in traffic ?

hello, I have watched several of your videos. great videos btw. 1. How many miles have to driven as of this month? How much storage space has that taken on your comma 2 device. I hear it has 60 something GB of storage inside. What happens when you run out of storage space? 2. After july 2022, comma 2 with openpilot will not receive any support anymore. What does this exactly mean? Will the comma 2 stop working with my car(Self driving) after it looses any future updates after that date?
@LetitDrive

Hey man. Do you know if the 2018 Civic Hatchback usess the stock ACC as well? The info on the site says it does but the sedan and coupe for that year use openpilot which is strange. I thought they would be wsing the same system for the year models

@JT Men Hey mate, newer Civics changed from Nidec to Bosch radar, but the hatchbacks have always used Bosch and never had Openpilot longitudinal. Today/tomorrow I'll upload new video how last 0.8.2 Openpilot update made road prediction much better and driving with Honda because its limited steering torque is now more enjoyable.

What you mean by the limitations of stock ACC vs openpilot? Is openpilot's ACC more responsive and better than stock ACC across all types of cars?
@LetitDrive
@LetitDrive 3 года назад
Hey, My information may not be correct, but as much as I can understand I am missing some Openpilot features and I think also future ones because my car is using stock BOSCH radar (Honda Civic hatch 2017-21) Openpilot cannot control the gas and brakes on Hondas using the Bosch ACC. So when Openpilot is engaged adaptive cruise control is stock but Openpilot gives it auto-resume in stop-and-go traffic. Yet Openpilot Automated Lane Centering is the real game changer compared with stock LKAS and thanks to machine learning it is getting better over time. Few weeks ago I drove with 2021 Corolla and tested its stock ACC and it was way smoother compered with my Civic and it can be enhanced by Openpilot, but Stock LKAS still leaves to be desired.

@@LetitDrive wow thanks for the reply! Yeah I saw another user recently uploading a video of a newer model RAV-4 using open pilot and literally making a complete left turn! I was sold if it could do that, but my car is a 2017 RX350 and wasn't sure if older model steering torques differed from newer ones... Would you happen to know? I thought it had something to do with the safety systems of cars,and of course, newer models are improving with time. Thanks!

@@daoneiFor model specific information You should ask Comma.ai Support or Discord, but seems newer Toyotas (+2020) are capable of making such turns :) . This tech seems normal to us now but we are witnessing AI completely change the way we do things. This "little project" would be impossible to do years ago if not for AI.

I hate these learning algorithms being called 'AI' there is complex behavior but intelligence requires awareness. These algorithms use statistics to slowly adjust themselves until they conform into an algorithm that solves a problem with very active human training and massaging. They don't have awareness of the problem, themselves, and their output has no innate meaning. They are to software development what plaster casting is to sculpting. Does this let us solve complex algorithms we don't know how to describe through linear objective steps? Sure. Is it intelligence? No. A cockroach fleeing light is intelligence. Just because the technique lets us build things which automate tasks WE would use intelligence to solve does not at any point make them intelligent because there is no reasoning or thinking occurring on their part or any potential there ever will be.
