One thing that I realized when I saw Mauga is that with his anti cc charge we might be falling into an Infinite loop of cc that goes through everything into ability that cancels/blocks all cc over and over

i dont hink that is a solution bc that would make kiri less usefull anlso there is to much CC in the game as of rn, so even with this it would not change that much. bc the enemy would learn not to use all theeir util at the same time.@@aldonavarrete987

Out of everything Ow2 has done, I can confidently say with absolute certainty that the midtown theme is the most flawless thing they've ever made. I have never not done a little boogie anytime i hear it. It's so good

Me having a 4-hour leaver penalty because I disconnected multiple times and got back in the same quick play game.... doesn't do the deed in terms of letting me play the games more often and it's not even my fault I don't even want to leave the game. The only players that got fockddd by this new penalty is the ones with kinda wonky connection. I can totally live with less experience points but don't prevent me from playing. please because often my my friends or random players don't even realise that I'm gone and there is a different ana aiming at their cheeks 😅

Funny thing about the QP leaving penalty is that I find it that I have more games where we don't even get a single backfill if someone leaves for whatever reason. Even more is that sometimes I get matches where we are spliced together with another bugged match.

I experienced this all the time well before the ban was implemented (Asia servers are MUCH worse than west coast in terms of leavers). Someone could leave in the first minute and no backfill for the rest of the 10+ minute game. It’s a little better in west coast so I think part of the discussion is muddled by people assuming backfill fixes the problem

Well some people telling that it's a bug. So when you start a match lobby disappears from finding games and won't reappear if any team lost member/members. Same stuff with comp but it's even worse, since it can kick you from game and won't let in.

@@cooltwittertag it's been ages since it's been fixed, but nah, you either had to wait out games with a permanent leaver/multiple leavers or make sure you didn't leave enough games for the penalty. It was definitely a coincidence at the time, but it did not make it feel better at all since it constantly occurred.

I've been a "quickplay - only" player for over 4 years and I can assure you that leavers go either after the first lost teamfight (not after the first point is lost, the first teamfight) or 5 seconds before the game is over. Apparently those are the kind of people that refuse to play unless their team carries them, and they just care too much about their QP winrate to take a L and move on with their lives. In the end I'm happy with the qp leaver penalties.

i can assure you that people don't leave due to win rate alone, thats just a useless number imo. if people are leaving games when they are almost over, its due to lag OR getting frustrated with a team that cant do shit. sometimes its okay to leave when ur getting rolled and cant do anything but feed

I genuinely love hearing Flats talk about The facts of Overwatch. He may not be correct 100% of the time, but he knows the game inside and out and can see through what needs to be done or what is actually happening. I really hope that people do start to listen to the real tank players and those of us who really love playing as tank, even though we can't. Because we experience everything that the enemy team has to offer, and get punished for trying to stop them. I miss the days where I could leave my team for 10 seconds to try and pull a couple of them off point and get a kill or two. Or when you could deal damage that would actually go through to the other team. But now, a tank isn't allowed to do any of that. If you want to make any sort of impact as a tank, you have to time your cooldowns perfectly and do it with at least 2 teammates. Because if you don't, a wet pool noodle could make a bigger impact than you.

Well when you are the only tank your job gets a little harder since everyone else has a backup. But let's not pretend that tanks are the only ones who suffer from everyone else's abilities. The tanks don't experience anything that everyone else does so most people feel that they have nothing to complain about. That certainly isn't true but I think that is how most see it.

@@PaulSmith-nb6md I understand that everyone gets impacted by every ability every now and then, that's how the game works. The tank however is, more often than not, the primary focus of most of the enemy team. Especially in lower elos. I haven't played Hardcore Overwatch in a while. But when I do play, I love to play as a tank. It's been my favorite role almost from the beginning of my play time. And I know I'm not a GM player, I'm not sure if I'm even diamond. But I do know the game very well. I've been playing the game for a long time, and I've been watching from almost the beginning. And I would love it if the diminishing tank player base would finally be listened to more, even if it's just a little bit. I genuinely love this game, and I hope that it gets the love and attention the devs have been giving it, for many years to come.

I play both tank and support so I have heard it from literally everyone at this point. I love the game too and I wished they would go back to 6v6 since at least it allowed tanks to have more freedom of choice in how to engage

I agree that the leaver penalties are a little heavy-handed but some penalties are absolutely necessary. A lot of people play mainly quick play and it’s not fun if people are just leaving for petty reasons.

70% of the time it's probably just an annoying, junk, mei, reaper, sojourn, sombra or tracer targeting them. Or probably had an internet or electricity issue

Ranked matching AND qp deserve tweaks. I hate it when people are so simple minded that if one thing gets attention they think the entire company is working on that one thing. I think the lesser of two evils is people halfassing a game vs going 4v5 off spawn since they had a good Widow and your Pharah/Junk don't wanna swap, just leave. One is way more toxic most of the time, whereas most people wanna win and try their best

Actually had a game once where the entire enemy team left after they lost the first fight. The only person who stayed was a Solider. This game ended up lasting the entire time length because people backfilled but would leave at some point. Eventually he got a team to stay but it was too late into the game for them to make any headway. When they said that some people leave 90% of their qp games I didn't have much of an issue with the penalties anymore.

I have several issues with it. 1) based on what the exec producer said, qp is basically supposed to just be comp lite. 2) if qp is basically comp lite why play even have qp? 3) since the people who leave don’t see qp as serious if they want out they will just soft throw (I have done this). 4) ppl complain about sweats in qp and if is not intended for ppl to be sweaty well, the leaver penalty and what dev said in the interview are just going to enable/justify the sweats more. I’m sure I have more but I just woke up.

There should honestly be another gamemode, it’s called “quick”play for a reason. They should add an “unrated” mode to be the sweaty non ranked mode and not have as much punishment for leaving a game when you are playing it for the “quick”ness

I think that a big part of tank issue that the community is missing is about power budget When the game moved to 5v5, tanks got significantly stronger, in stats (raw hp/armor or just damage numbers), mobility (orisa is not an anchor anymore, doom was new, rein can cancel charge...), this got to the point where tank hp pools had to be nerfed on non role queue modes, since ther characters by itself in a vacuum just have overwhelming numbers The problem with this is, on ow1, every player had like 1/6 of the team power budget in hands, not exactly like that but the agency was more distributed. Now the tank player has like 1/3 of the team power budget, meaning he has much more things to do, like tanking 24/7, killing enemies, doing cc, protecting allies, getting space and other things. Having to do all that in EVERY GAME is stressfull, if you have to be the main character in some games and a secondary characther in others is normal for the other roles, but tank has to give his maximum every game for his team to even get a chance to play the game. This is also a part of the counterswaping problem, if the tank player had less of the team budget, countering him would not be so impactful thus not so mandatory This is more of a pvp shooter design issue overall, since tanks and supports really cant only tank/heal to be meaningful on the match, so they also have to do DPS job after all so the player feels like he got agency in the game

Not entirely true though. You don’t need to play maximally when your damage ACTUALLY DO THEIR JOB. The game is easier on everyone when damage create pressure for the tank to claim space. But all those games of tank feeling like you need to carry through the nose is because your damage are chipping at the enemy tank, using the same angle and space you already occupy, and expecting you to claim space from nothing. What compounds this are supports that fail to prioritise healing where it is needed or tunnel vision. You watch the replay thinking ‘WTF is he doing?’ seeing a Moira sucking an enemy as her allies die in her periphery, a Mercy doing aerial tricks while damage boosting ignoring the critical HP tank.

@@cnnr_ I've also played support and its dumb, like if you play kiri you have to save your cleanse for tank, 90% of the time because the one time you cleanse someone else like a slept dps, your tank gets anti'd and dies, then you lose that fight. Its bad on every count but its worse for tank because there isn't anything you can do except pray, that your supports have a cooldown for you.

Sometimes you have an off game and it’s matters a lot less on the other 2 roles because well you have a partner in that role who can pick up you slack, but with tank if you have an off game it’s just a loss. Also with tanks because of the lack of a partner it’s much closer to a Rock Paper Scissors game with counter swap because there’s only one variable and it just makes the role so much less fun because it can devolve into that if both tanks are equal in skill.

I feel like all those people saying that they don't get why Blizzard would punish leavers in QP don't really play QP all that often. Before they made that change it felt like roughly every 4th game I was backfilled into a game that had a leaver and almost without fail the game already was lost. I mean really lost. Not just we are at a disadvantage, but we don't have a single proper team fight left. Now that they changed that, I can go a lot longer without being backfilled. Yes, I get an occasional thrower now, who is just afk or goofing around at the end of the map, but the frequency of that doesn't compare. not even close. As I play mostly solo-flex-Q QP this change was a godsent.

Being backfilled is MOST of my QP losses in OW2. Every 1 in 3-4 games used to be a backfilled, followed by a loss as I get dropped in with around 5-10 seconds left in the game. Not enough time to build a meaningful ult charge, or attempt to coordinate with the team. My W/R in QP has skyrocketed up since the new changes banning leavers. Im getting backfilled less, and Im able to enjoy longer, more meaningful games. QP should be the place to relax or prepare for Ranked. Leaving just negatively affects players in both angles.

@@silviobleta6846 And you know what? I will happily backfill that game if there is still time left to play it. If there is even 1:30 min left on the clock I will not complain. But if someone leaves in the last 20s of the Match because they are too afraind to see the defeat screen and force someone into that match, then I am just all too happy knowing they will get properly punished now.

It was said in the recent interview with Jared on the group up podcast that the reason they're punishing leavers in quickplay is that they have the numbers and quickplay is the main way to play overwatch for the majority of players. To the devs ranked is seen as quickplay with extra stakes and incentive, not as the main and only mode players can take seriously. So with that in mind a team based game where one player leaving can screw over a whole match, allowing people to leave a majority of their games in the mode most people play hurts the experience of the regular playerbase. So it makes sense why they punish people who leave a majority of their matches in qp.

And as someone who is regularly annoyed by being down a player for 10 plus minutes, I see it as necessary (the problem is even worse in Asia servers than west coast, I play on both). And the thing is, leaving and trying to join a new game when you’re down a player is not something you can really do because you’ll just have the same problem the next game. It’s not that I take qp as seriously as ranked, it’s just literally unplayable when you’re dealing with an epidemic of leavers. I want to play the game. Leavers make that impossible

Yeah but the ban just isn't it. I hopped back on for the first time in a couple months and got a bad audio bug where the sound would cut out and then spike every 10 seconds or so. I left the game to see if it would fix it, but then got a 15 minute ban for my 1st leave. Immediately just left the game and now I don't even wanna touch it. As much as it sucks to be back loaded into a losing game, there's ways to fix it without severely punishing the plays that want a casual game mode. Have players join at the same time and make the afk timer better. Push leaving players into a longer queue for the next game or just make it where you can't que till the game you left is over.

Banning people doesn't even fix the issue, most people will just troll the game cause they don't care about the map or the game mode, I rather have a leaver and the chance to get someone else that be stuck with a troll the entire game

I used to be a tank/support main in ow1 because they were the "chill" roles imo. Play support: healbot. Play tank: stand there with shields. Obviously it wasnt optimal even back then, but it felt so easy to get value. Now tank is the most stressful thing ever and support are just dps with heals. I ironically started playing dps now because I somehow feel like theres less pressure. Never thought it would be this way.

I started in overwatch 2 so i am not as qualified, but if you are playing any tank and don't have good healers you are useless. I play tank alot, and I always pick a tank with a healing factor or some way to get over health.

@@losttrader1170 I think thats not really an issue with needing good supports, but more a low elo thing where people dont play their roles "correctly". Its common in lower ranks for both supports to just healbot their respective tanks and for the tank and dps to focus the other tank. The team whose tank dies first loses the fight. That can make it feel like its the supports fault but its not really. I think its also a bit of the big stats = did well mindset a lot of people have. Especially as a tank there is a lot of stuff you can do that when your team doesnt take advantage of It feels like you are useless. Mainly creating space. If your team doesnt actually go into the space you create because they dont know to use it, it will look like you are "feeding" or "overextending" when you are just doing your job.

@@tobiasbayer4866 I see the point your making, focusing heals on the tank is bad, i don't like when my healers do that but its crap when I kill 4 out of 5 enemy team all by myself without heals, and the final one kills be because my healers refused to heal. I do my best not to reley on them but when i need it, i need it. Its really annoying taking out the enemy team, dying and seeing that my team didn't even take the point or move the payload, if my healers couldn't help me thats fine, but when im in line of site and they are attacking the enemy rather than send a drop of healing my way it tends to make me want to switch to another role. This happens in most games i play

@@losttrader1170 I would recommend rewatching you own games through the replay viewer. Usually you arent doing as much as you think you are and your team is doing more than you think they did. However If its true, then yeah sticking with self heal tanks is good. Although I never had that problem. Usually the problem for me is to much healbotting instead of my supps also going for kills, like they should.

The problem is that Blizzard insists on treating QP like Comp practice, and they're showing no signs of stopping. What we need is a mode that recaptures the casual chaos of older FPS games. Imagine a 10v10 mode. The mode exclusively uses Flashpoint and Clash maps, but there are always two points active at a time. The point or time limit is doubled. When the map ends, it loads straight into the next map with the same players. There is no penalty for leaving. When you queue, it places you into a match in progress. There are no role or character limits. If there are fewer than 5 players on each team, the map plays in Skirmish mode, not keeping score. It's just shameless, casual fun. Drop in, drop out.

What do you mean Blizzard is the one doing that? I've seen Flats and many others of his friends before say that if you're trying a new hero you shouldn't go into comp with them because that's throwing. Not even only on newly released heroes. Let's say someone never played Tracer. These streamers say: don't go into comp with Tracer because you'll be throwing. So of course QP turned into Comp V2

If you didn't know, all the overwatch 1 maps have a different attacking and defending them. The Spotify track of them will play Attack then shift into a transition theme then into defense theme, without pause. It sounds like one long theme split in half and set for attack and defense. I recommend giving the full themes a listen if you fancy the OST.👍🏾

I play quick play for fun *joins and instantly loses because you joined right at the end. Gets priority search. Instantly finds another game right at the end and instantly loses. So much fun. ) and what am I supposed to do if my favorite mode is mystery heroes? Just enjoy the leaver ring as well.

4:29 - Midtown is just one of many, *_many_* maps that has a different opening tune when you're playing on it. Most of the Escort (payload), Assault (2CP) and Hybrid maps have it; maps that are symmetrical by design (like Control, Push and Flashpoint) just use one opening tune. Personally, my favorite of the lot is Hollywood's-the defense jingle has almost an Olympic-style buildup to it with a large horn section, while attack is actually a lot more mellow with a sort of twinkling synth finish. One with a far more subtle difference is Eichenwalde, with attack having a large orchestral crescendo, and defense having a string quartet movement.

I feel like a big shift to make tank better is just making them naturally CC resistant, so if a widow sleep 4 seconds a tank is 2, or things like orb get resisted to like 15% extra damage, ana nade lasts shorter, and that stuff. Tanks get hard focused on CC so other than universal nerfs, making tanks resist CC is really the best way to keep tanks as tanks instead of doormats.

@@Asynurr at this point 6v6 might actually be worse since tanks only die so fast due to them being a main focus who have niches, if 6v6 were back the whole tank lineup would change so we don't have a hog pulling the front line into death while a winton is attacking the backline or any snipers.

Man I just want more supporty supports instead of heal bots or a third dps. Supports that can reduce damage, nerf the enemies damage/slow them, buff allies with on hit effects or give temp hp like in other games.

I really hope that Space Ranger ends up being a fun mobile utility support hero and not just another dps disguised as a support. I mean our last support literally only had ONE supportive ability and that was a turret that does healing for you. Her other options are shooting a nuke at the enemy team to make them all explode, or pushing all the enemies around her away and changing positions to shoot said enemies better. Considering Space Ranger’s unique role of being a actual flying airborne support however, she will probably be very unique.

The tank talk is spot on. I used to play support and tank in ow1 and was evenly skilled on both (Mid Platinum). Ow2 i quit for a while (from seasons 2-5) and when i came back season 6 i basically became solely a support player. Now im Diamond one on support and still plat 3 on tank because i just stopped finding it fun to play (especially in competitive). also as a former sigma main it was painful to play him after he lost the one shot capability. i get why it was removed but its so unsatisfying to play most tanks now

Tank is still really fun and by far my favorite role. I legitimately do not understand all of these complaints, on my main account I'm a doom otp and the counterswapping doesn't even annoy me. It's like suddenly tanks have decided having to play around disadvantages is too hard. Like yeah bastion melts winston, but bastion is a terrible DPS and will be getting bullied by your tracer/genji/sombra all game. Also waiting out a 12 second cooldown is not that hard. The only legitimate complaint for the tank role is that ball should get a small buff and the people who complain about too much responsibility in the tank role (which ironically is normally the same people who complain they don't have enough impact on their games). In my experience counterswapping is almost never even good compared to just playing a solid team comp and good heroes.

People also forget to talk about supports in OW1 didn't have a role passive, meaning if a support like Ana used her nade or sleep, she herself was defenseless and any damage you'd do to her would be effective pressure. In OW2 the support can just yeet their abilities with no care, and if they take damage they just gotta LOS for a few seconds and they're back to full hp passively. They don't even have to heal each other (aka pay attention) because they know their fellow support will heal themselves on their own so they can keep pumping their tank's ass full 24/7.

I’m looking forward to Reaper’s rework, he really does feel like the hero that has been affected by power creep the most. He’s outclassed in almost every way, tracer does better up close and has better survivability, Ashe and Hanzo have better burst while not having to get up close. His Ult is easily avoidable with many counters.

The people telling tank players how to play tank while not playing tank is so true. Had a diamond Pharah complaining to me that I wasn't swapping off Ram to play Winston against the enemy Ram because monkey laser ignores armor now. I explained that's true but you're pulling a pocket away from my healing, Ram punches through bubble, and he was getting pumped for heals. If I was switching to Winston it would be to dive the back but they were playing too close to Ram. After my explanation I got hit with: BuT yOu IgNoRe ArMoR. She was also playing into a Cass and Soldier that ate her all game long. So, yeah

I feel like a big problem with tank at the moment is that you don't feel like the muscle of the team sometimes, you're supposed to be a damage sponge but in overwatch soaking up damage is just building the enemies ult charge, I see it a lot with hog and orisa

Mobility creep is a thing yes, but its not inherently a bad thing. One of the best things in this game is how good it feels to move as a character, and to use movement to outplay other players

for every game's system there is too much power in movement where it removes the challenge from the game. For example, celeste with 4 dashes would be, overall, significantly less balanced a game and the entirety of the level design would need to be reworked around the increased mobility. I assume the intent is that mobility creep in overwatch is starting to eclipse the need to aim, the stability of the netcode, the map design, etc. I agree in that I love games with incredibly complex movement, but at a certain point it would require redesigning the rest of the game.

The problem is how the mobility is given instead. Bap for example has a good mobility but not great for escapes unless there's a high ground no one can reach. Mauga has a good mobility tool for disengage but is relatively slow and he can't use it to traverse long distances without incurring some risk of being shot at. What are examples of movements that are not fine you might ask? : Kiriko, the ability to tp is strong. Super strong. A good sym can make use of her teleporter which is just a shittier tp amongst all the tp abilities if she uses it by herself and despite that, if used properly is still strong. Reaper TP is slow, makes him vulnerable, and is easy to spot and he requires los much like Sym. Now what does kiriko have? An easy to teleport button that doesn't require los, is almost instant, gives her invulnerability on tp and after shortly and can fucking go through walls. That shit isnt fine, and that shit goes as far as Reaper tp. And the only condition is what? Have 1 person in a 35m radius? As far as im concerned Kiriko should never have the ability to tp through walls. Or have that much distance to teleport. It should always be either have a wind up to teleport, have a los requirement to function (cant tp through walls), or reduced distance by 20m. Then what would make Moira's super fast instant wraith not OP as a movement? One might even think. Its that it is OP, fast movement on a short time with jump tech for additional distance and you're invulnerable with self cleanse. The only thing that would make it better would be it can phase through walls(that would be so annoying tho). But in the case of Moira, shes limited by her kit and design. Kiriko has the ability to almost 2 tap most of the cast, has suzu, has wall climb with her tp, she doesn't need all that, its why she's unfun to play against. Moira has fade, succ, piss, piss orb and succ orb. Thats it. Thats her entire kit. Its why I'd consider her mobility fine. Given a strong ability but 2 decent but not fight changing abilities. Ana is a better example of strong abilities as well, she gets 0 mobility skills since she has 2 fight changing abilities that rival ultimates in efficacy, so she'll get 0 mobility (yes im aware pumping both cc abilities into 1 tank ruins them.) Also, swiftstep is on 7s cd. Makes you think huh.

I actually kind of hope they go back to 6v6. Playing tank feels like dogshit 99% of the time right now because of the counter the tank meta. It doesnt help blizz keeps adding abilities that are 0 fun to go against though. Remove 3 H's from overwatch glossary and itll be a lot more enjoyable majority of the time. Hack, Hinder, and hook, 3 anti fun mechanics that just make someone unable to play their character for X seconds and more than likely die because they literally turn into a firing range robot for 3 seconds

I think it's interesting how Flats is so adamantly opposed to 6v6 coming back when it would quite literally solve a majority of the problems we've had since Overwatch 2 released. They literally designed the majority of the hero roster with 6v6 in mind before suddenly dropping one of the Tanks for no excusable reason, but forgot that in order to make that even remotely feasible they'd have to rework the entire hero roster. Their reasoning was "it's easier to balance" but like we've seen how that's just straight up not true. The lack of the extra Tank is what directly led to gigabuffed Supports who were dying in droves on OW2 launch. It's what's led to the Tank role overall being not as fun as it used to be because they literally doubled the amount of focus the leftover Take player receives. It's why counterswapping has increased significantly because there only being one Tank makes it by far the easiest thing to counterswap against. It's why Ana nade and Kiriko cleanse dominate games. All of these issues would be fixed if we went back to 6v6. They overextended when they tried to fix the problem of shields from OW1 by removing a Tank. The meta would've been alright with them just removing most of the shields in the game, they didn't need to go overboard like this.

Do you remember 6v6 ? Double shield was a problem but do you remember hog and ball. Or GOATS. All these these metas came from powerful tanks. The best meta of them all was probably dive. All those metas wouldve never came into fruition with only one tank. Yes overwatch 2 has had a bunch of bad metas like that hog and doom meta or mercy sojourn one shot meta. But it doesn't compare to how miserable the game was during ow1.

@@DanTheSupport OW1 was never miserable because of the metas. OW1 was miserable because of how long said metas lasted and because there was no content to shift them. If OW1 had the exact same season structures and content released OW2 had, it would have a been a much better game. Don't mistake the lack of balance and content to be 6v6 flaws because they are not. The only reason OW2 didnt have as "bad" metas as OW1, is because it is a game that gets updated frequently, unlike OW1. I guaranteed you if OW2 had the same update rate OW1 had, the soj meta would have lasted a year and everybody would be begging to go back to ow1, if they werent already.

I've actually managed to have draws on Push before by neither team getting the bot past the checkpoint after capturing it, and one of the teams being slightly too far away from the bot after a long overtime, meaning that the overtime meter ran out almost instantly.

I normally queue all roles when I'm just chillin with friends, but for the last 3 days, after having like 4 tank games in a row I had to queue just DPS and support, it was just a bullying session. As a tank your job is to get bullied by the enemy team so that they can't bully your team. The tanks that kinda struggle are the ones who aren't made to just get bullied or slow the bullying down. Ball Hog(kinda) doom and rein(depends on team comps) all struggle coz they are either offensive or don't have much to defend themselves.

mercy's movement was actually nerfed in season 3, she was OP because if someone was on crit, they'd do 67.5hp/s and with the 25% healing herself, that's why she was Tank Mercy, but her movement wasn't buffed, it was reverted in season 4, but so was the 50% increase healing on Crit heroes, The Sympathetic Recovery to me is more of a nerf compared to Regeneration, it was strong with the 50% increase healing on crit players, but not the current healing she's on, if you focus mercy she's got no survivalitly if noone else is taken any damage. yes, they QOL the Valk and 5 ammo on the gun, but who uses 20 bullets in a mercy gun, I'm not saying she hasn't been buffed atall, but her movement never got a buff like Flats said.

Is still say the movement’s still nerfed since they added the sympathetic recovery, and it’s kinda even worse now compared to season 3. Yes, the basic GA is reverted back to what it was, but the real bad thing is how you’re considered to still be in a GA when using tech, and cancelling early, such as a small extra bunny hop to reposition, effectively still giving you the S3 cooldown, and in reality, 2 different cooldowns. So that’s another that goes to the list of Mercy changes that Flats is wrong about, as it’s about as far away from a net buff as you can get.

idk why Flats is so against 6v6 coming back. Sure, they'll have to spend a lot of time to rebalance everything, but it will be SO WORTH IT. First of all, I have a lot of friends I play with all the time. We are all collectively sad that in our groups we make we can fit one less person. A common occurrence (say, 1-4 times a week) is we make a group of 5, then one more person comes online asking if we have a spot, and we have to tell them we're full. But if it were 6v6, we would fit that one friend, who ends up playing alone or just logging off until more people get on to make another group. Secondly, every problem in this game about tanks - balancing, not painful to play as/against, etc - would be solved with 6v6 returning. Having off tanks in this game be shoved into main tank role because there's only one tank now fcking sucks!!!! Ball was supposed to be a DISRUPTOR tank who flanked and cc'd people while a main tank stayed with the rest of the team! He can't do that now without leaving his team alone, and he SUCKS being frontline. I could literally stay here and write an MLA formatted essay on how 5v5 sucks and is epic levels of stupid and how 6v6 is better and how it should be changed but I don't want to bc this is a comment section.

As a primarily QP player, the issue is many leavers drop after the first fight. It just wastes everyone's time, especially when OW2 seems to struggle to backfill now more than ever. If a team loses the first fight and a player decides to troll the rest of the game because "the game is lost", that's a player issue, not a system issue.

As a support player, I personally feel extremely bad for Tank players and can’t remember the last time I put “Tank Diff” in chat (unless he’s already started it with me), but I rather think that DPS players are the worst of the bunch mostly because they’re the least important role on the team but they feel like they’re the most important, They have an ego the size of Japan and blame both Supports and Tanks for “Not defending” or “Not Healing” when both roles do a DPS’ job better than they do

So im gonna chine in on the quickplay leaver changes as an Overwatch 2 player who never played OW1. When you are new you HAVE to WIN 50 quickplay games to be allowed to play ranked. When i was doing this with my friends we couldnt wait to unlock ranked because you go on streaks where u have leavers on your teams multiple games in a row and you will lose when that happens. Its really frustrating for new players to try and unlock ranked when everyone just leaves their matches because their playing with new players. OW2 is catering more to their mewer players and thats a good thing, its a hard game to get into, its one of the most difficult fps games to be good at. So as a baby overwatcher the quickplay changes sort of needed to happen like it or not

I think a tank passive to make all non-ult debuffs and cc a percentage less by effective against tanks would help out alot. Like they did for anas sleep dart. Ana nade lasts 3 seconds normally, but for tanks it could be a little over 2 seconds. Gets knock down, tanks are the first ones up by a slight margin. I say non ult because I think it might make some interactions weird. Like how would one get out of flux faster?

I’ve been thinking this for a while. Fully agreed. (Also Ana sleep is 5s for squishies, 3.5s for tanks. And they need to speed up the actual wake-up animation, at least for tanks, as well-it’s absurd how much damage you can take from a sleep you immediately wake up from even when it’s maybe 2 or 3 people looking at you, which isn’t out there at all for tanks).

Honestly, I hate counter-swapping, but I don't like any of the alternatives. I'd like to see what they do with swap limit, but I don't really like the idea of hero bans. And I hope that they get ride of ult charge saving on swap, if you're counter-swapping the only thing you should get is a hero with a more favorable match up.

My only two issues with hero bans are that they would make some heroes perma banned. Ana and Kiri being the main candidates since Ana simply outright shuts down a lot of characters while Kiri is overhated as of now (I'm telling you, as long as Ana is S tier, Kiri will be as well, but she's an A tier as of now). Bastion would never see the light of day again and other tanks will go rampart as their counters are banned (Hog would go feral without an Ana for example or Orisa without a Zarya, etc.)

The only time I had a problem with qp punishment was when I disconnected from one game of qp, my Internet dropped, and I got a 45 minute comp ban. When I contacted support they told me "well you shouldn't have been playing comp then huh?!" 😳 I was playing qp because I was having connectivity issues and I got a comp penalty........WTF?

imo, 6v6 was never the problem; I think all that Blizzard had to do was remove shields from every tank except Reinhardt and maybe Sigma while reducing the shield up-time so that teams couldn’t just do double shield again with them, plus nerf Brigitte’s survivability into the ground. They could’ve done everything else they’ve done with OW2 and kept 6v6 with those changes.

I used to play tank more than other roles in OW1 but now I play other roles because tank in OW2 feels terrible. From the counters to the cc and being yelled at tank diff I don't want to deal with it. I still rather have 6v6 instead. The shield thing could be worked around. They did get rid of Orisa's shield. Also, the tank synergy was great.

Quite literally one singular mistake as Ram about two minutes into a Silver comp match that didn’t lead to us getting TK’d or any loss on the objective that wasn’t recovered has half the team jumping down my throat opening the door for one DPS in particular to spam “tank diff” over and over any chance he got. We weren’t even getting rolled, they were just legitimately a better coordinated team (not to mention they had better DPS’s, but given how our team was acting I don’t think that’s a surprise to most), and were able to win fights consistently. I remember straight up asking the guy in voice, “Why would this make me want to really try and play better for you? What results are you hoping to get here by being like this?” and was just met with those same eight letters in chat over and over and over again. I’m completely done with comp until the rework. Tanking was and still is the role I enjoy playing the most, but there is zero incentive to continue playing it or to attempt improving at it in any meaningful way, like in real, competitive game scenarios, when this is what you’re met with, regardless of your efforts, and regardless of if the person behaving this way is even doing *THEIR* part. This isn’t even coming from a defeatist “I can’t handle people being mean to me so I won’t play at all” position. It’s me going “why should I bother wasting my time like this?”

The thing with the leave penalty is it either needs to be present, OR they need to fix their match making. because the amount of games I've still seen be it my team or enemy teams that someone leaves and there's zero backfill match, sometimes it's even consecutive matches. no backfills are a very real problem

I've managed to draw in push twice. It was in the first few weeks after overwatch 2 launched when people were just learning how pushed worked, guess we all really wanted to rumble.

The qp toxicity is real. I was in a push game where we were getting rolled and I was just tryna complete challenges, and this guy messaged me after “Dog$h!t Orisa “ and I said “This is qp” and they respond “Doesn’t matter ur still Dog”. I wonder if they have a normal life after playing or if they go to bed sad and angry.

When it comes to them making skins and fixing whatever, those are two entirely seperate things. The art team and the 3d modelers don't have any anything to do with bug fixing, that's not their job. You can't move people from their team over to the bug fix team, they wouldn't know what they are doing.

Only issue with people leaving quick play I have is when the position doesn't get filled. Had the Tank drop out right at the start and they didn't get replaced, so it was waiting 5-6 minutes in a game for a tank to join for the game to end by the other team winning because we never got one. This has happened quite a few times in the last week. Even had one game where two people left and it didn't fill either slot the rest of the match. (Love it when it gets to the end of the match and the other team is like "GG too easy" XD) Fine with leavers if blizz fixes this.

Since the quickplay punishments were added the number of people afking games has skyrocketed. They get punished for leaving but they also don't want to take part in the game anymore so they just sit there contributing nothing and forcing the team to be one person down until it's over. I would MUCH rather have people like that leave the game and get replaced.

I was in a game of TOTAL MAYHEM with my friends, and the only one not in our group told my friend to swap off Soldier before the game started... And was really toxic

about QP Toxicity, there was one match where I made a small mistake when trying to make space where I blew up as tank within the first minute of the match and immediately my support started throwing question marks and saying "tank????" IN QP. Didnt let me cook nor nothing, immediately toxic. I ended with 22-2 as REIN in that matchup, highest elims in the lobby (not that stats matter but to prove a point that people get frustrated and toxic way too quickly). JUST LET US COOK DAMMIT 😭

What about limiting the amount of times you can swap? Like only 1 or 2 times per match. That'd give you either your first character and second character to choose from for the rest of the match, or your original, a second, and later on, if you so choose, a third. That'd give pro players ideas to theorycraft about what 1 counter or 2 counters they could draw from

The problem with that is in low bronze (where I am at the moment ) people swap to counter you, and if your stuck between 2 heros you just get stuck being countered or unable to do anything.

as soon as someone tells me to swap off in qp i make it my mission to be the worst possible teammate to them specifically. it’s not that serious bro i play qp for fun and so i can practice as whatever hero i want to eventually take into ranked, where it actually matters whether i’m good or bad

I used to play ball from the start of overwatch 2 to around season 2 or midseason season 3, and i stopped playing tank exactly because of those issues, and even playing DPS i can still see these issues existing, if i ever see the issues go away ill go back to playing tank, but that seems to be in 6+ months and not sometime soon sadly

They definitely should fix how those bans work I queued for another match and the game was applying an update I guess so it kind of crashed my game and it's suspended me and I just stopped playing after that

So it’s not a “problem” with “how” the bans work, there’s a bug you experienced. Very different world, and changing how you talk about it will lead to less confusion ( including for yourself) I would assume this was a one time thing, if not you might consider submitting a report to blizzard?

Leavers are annoying to me because I exclusively play quickplay and while I dont think people should tryhard, they should try to win. I hate when people just leave after it looks like we are losing. What about trying to clutch up? Leaving only makes the game more one sided and basically confirms the loss on an otherwise maybe still winnable game. Sure, sometimes the person replacing the leaver will be better than them but at that point you are usually already to far behind. I dont know how it is for others, but I had a leaver in about 2 of 3 games that I lose and and maybe 1 in 5 times when someone starts leaving we win despite it. Its not really a fault with the game, its more a fault of the mindset of a lot of the people playing it. And I blame that mindset on comp being so bad. If sweaty people could just play comp instead of quickplay I dont think we would have this issue.

I rarely ever play QP. I was on alone the other day so said id jump into QP for a bit. It was just as sweaty as my comp games and it was taken just as seriously by my team. I didn't go there for that. I guess arcade is the new relaxing zone?

I’ve been wondering, if Overwatch actually goes through with their experimental hero bans, what the different ban percentage’s for certain heroes will be. I think the devs will be able to use the ban rates to get a better idea on what people dislike the most.

I think my quickplay leaver penalty is bugged Whenever i leave a game the "you're suspended" ui appears for a couple of seconds and then it's gone and i can queue like nothing ever happened lmao

It's always fun playing tank against a arguably bad or worse tank player and doing better than them but still losing just because the enemy DPS played the counter game all match, and to add salt to the wound both teams always spam skill diff or tank diff. I don't play tank anymore unless my friends ask me too when we play together. It's getting beyond miserable

I perfer the ban system, as a player who mostly plays on qp in the current years, i think this was needed, the problem of leavers was it was getting out of hand so bad, maybe it wasn't noticeble to you because you aren't a qp player but for me, getting into a match and having a full team of randos just dissapear per round isn't something i call fun, it can get so bad taht the match ends during a midmatch as the matchmaker cannnot fill a missing team. I could queue back to rank but frankly speaking i simply don't have the time to spend on queue times, qp is short and chaotic but having to wait queue only for then they leave and you wait again isn't what i call a fun expierence.

No, Flats. They give her the Triage "rework" to Mercy with a couple of downgrades thanks to the new improvements in her healing. They put her GA cd in 2.5 secs. And they tried to fix it later alonside removing her triage rework while keeping all the prior nerfs (GA Nerfs now augmented, GA backwards 30% slow and her new passive that without the triage passive it was healing too low it was useless). And now, she is basically OW2 Mercy, with 3 secs on GA, after she had 1.5. Get punished by using techs, and her new passive was a nerf compared to her old passive specially after the triage healing was taken from her. Yes, she had buffs, but so far she only kept the nerfs.

I don’t care about my Quick play games, BUT what was annoying before the leaver changes was when people on your team would leave cause they were loosing and then you would get backfill, they would realize it was a loosing game and then leave the game. This would repeat over and over again in probably half of my quick play games to either me or the enemy team. It’s just not fun, it’s not that I’m upset that we lost the game.

Leavers penalty in QP sucks. The amount of times I’ve had throwing teammates because we lost a round has increased exponentially because of the penalty. I still get leavers like once in every 10 games and 50% of the time the game bugs so it turns into a 4v5 for the entire game.
