P0141 means the powertrain control module tests the downstream heated oxygen sensor’s heater circuit on Bank 1 Sensor 2 and detects a short in the circuit or excessive resistance in the heater circuit.
Heated oxygen sensors contain heating elements to help them get to operating temperature quickly in order to minimize the amount of time spent before they can provide feedback to the powertrain control module. Sensor 2 is downstream of the catalytic converter ensures the catalytic converter is operating efficiently by monitoring the air-fuel ratio coming out of the catalytic converter.

I'm getting code P0135 and P01141. When I'm cranking my 5 speed Honda it almost sounds like the starter and the car will not crank the engine is turning over but nothing happens could this be a result of these sensors?

I had a code come up when I went to auto zone. Have a 2002 chevy express van 1500 with the 5 .7 liter v8. It showed the bank 2 sensor one was bad, so I replaced it. Took back to auto zone to run another diag test, still says the same thing. I reset code a,d drive for a couple hundred miles. Got any ideas. Surely would help. Oh yeah it has 211k miles on it. But runs good, also changed the oil sending sensor, now that worked. But 02 sensor has me baffled. Please help. Can't just keep throwi,g money at it , in on fixed income. Ty

my 97 f150 has this code the wires do not look damaged, how do i know what sensor this is? It says bank 1 sensor 2 what side of the engine is that on? My truck still is getting its rated mpg but occasional misfire i also have a code for The egr flow being insufficient. I will remove the egr and see i if can clean it.

Bank 1 is merely the cylinder bank containing cylinder 1. Should the engine only have one bank (such as an inline 4 cyl), it will be reported as bank 1. Sensor 1 is the one upstream of the catalytic converter, & sensor 2 is the downstream.

Swapped the 02 sensor on 03 element and I still had that code after 100 miles of driving. Unplugged the battery and deleted code w scanner and still stays on. Any ideas?

If the fault for p0141 heater circuit malfunction is coming back after sensor replacement, there could be an issue in the wiring to the O2 itself. First check fuse 4 in the fuse box under the dash. This may be the issue depending on failure. Being that this sensor is on the bottom of the car it is very common to have wiring damage, rodents chewing on wires etc. Check all connections for worn or broken wires. Always a good idea to check your factory repair manual for wiring diagrams.You can check resistance on the heater circuit wiring with a volt meter, there should be low resistance on the heater circuit, the two black / or two white wires on the sensor side of the harness are the ones to check. If there is infinite resistance or high resistance that is an indication the sensor is faulty on the heater circuit.. Also check to make sure there is voltage to those two black wires by checking the car side of the connector with key on there should be 12 volts. The other wire will be your ground. Some vehicles will have a separate fuse for the 02 sensor system. Check vehicle man, and go over fuse locations.

can a hallowed cat converter also cause this? i just had this code... or at least just had a scanner to know i had this code. also my fuel system status is now open loop due to system failure. from using o2 sensor to mix fuel, any input about my troubles?

John Meister Dupa if you have no Cats it will most definitely trip your rear o2 sensors. Which will also cause you to fail an emissions test if your county requires you to pass one.

@@WheelinPNW Funny story, my cat blew up, so I yanked it off and replaced with straight pipe to replace cat. Truck is an antique so don't need emissions anyway. I made a bung for rear 02 sensor and no check engine light after 1k miles. For science I pulled rear 02 out and plugged bung and strapped 02 to the frame of the truck. No check engine light after 1k miles. I got a new cat and plugged 02 back in and check engine light came on after 60 miles. Go figure.
