I'm brutally honest but there is a huge difference between being brutally honest and straight up disrespectful. Yes, I did hurt people with my honesty but it was for their own good ( to prevent teen pregnancy scares, drugs, suicides, etc) not for a wedding dress, I dont think that's worthy enough to ruin someone's day for.

The version I know is that 'brutally honest' is usually used about people who are more 'brutal' than 'honest'. You can say what you want to say without being an arsehole about it. And for some people - vain types usually - if they can't be 'honest' without hurting feelings, they feel as if they failed somehow. Sad individuals. And am I getting a 'failed cosmetic surgery' vibe about this guy?

Have you ever competed in a pageant? This has nothing to do with pageants and the girls who compete so before you go talking about "pageant culture" and everything that is "wrong" with it, maybe you should go and actually talk to girls who compete and see all the lessons learned and the friendships formed as well as the countless hours dedicated to our communities. Sincerely, a girl who has gained nothing but great things from 5 years of pageantry.

And no, I am not supporting the way he treated her at all but to judge all of pageantry and comment on it based on a man who does not compete in pageants is unfair. This is the opposite of what I have experienced or seen in pageants.

The thing that bothers me (on behalf of competitors) is that more often than not, when the pageant coaches appear on shows with brides or other contestants, they give off some of the same vibes as this guy. Bossy, possessive, and seemingly unaware of their effect on their clients. I hope you’re right that this isn’t true across the board; in any case, there’s an image problem that is disturbing.
