This is a great explanation. Wow I didn’t know a one step or two step takes so long. Makes me think that a lot of mobile detailers offering this might be doing hack jobs vs some who are actually legit. I couldn’t imagine doing this as someone’s house all day in their driveway. This seems more like a shop service. Awesome details and I learned a good deal of what is involved.

Corrections can definitely take that long when you are really focused on edge-work and there are lots of defects to remove, but I’ve definitely gotten faster over time! Quick enhancement jobs are great as long as the expectations are clear between you and your customer.
You can go tons of different ways with one steps, but my starting point is always a medium cut compound on a medium firm foam pad. Then adjust from there based on paint type!
Hi pan can i ask you about ceramic spray overspray? I sprayed tw flex wax on my black paint and forgot to wipe it for a week Now i can get wipe it off Any suggestions?
If it was just a spray wax type product even a light enhancement polish will take those spots right off. Make sure you wash the vehicle and clay it first!
Great explanation. If the customer want to do paint enhancements then ceramic coating , would you use uno protect ? Because the uno protect have sealant on that right? Is this effect the ceramic to bond the paint? Can I use uno protect and then wipe off with Eraser then apply ceramic coating on? If i just want to do paint enhancements with uno protect,can I add 1 more protection like spray sealant or ceramic on after ? Sorry I have a lot of questions 😅
Great question. Uno protect is not a good option to use before a ceramic coating. It leaves behind a sealant that will not allow the coating to bond properly. You'd have to remove it and basically that negates the reason to use Uno protect in the first place. Just use a light polish that has no fillers or sealants in it on a foam pad for an enhancement and then follow it up with your panel prep and coating of choice!
@@tiendang4916 any sort of "Medium" polish or a fine finishing polish would do the trick. Check out Optimum "Hyper Polish." The main thing is to use a medium foam pad (like a Lake county orange pad or a Rupes yellow) so you get a good finish.
You can use a paint thickness gauge to give you some basic readings. They even make pretty involved ones that can tell you the difference between substrates as well. Just depends on how much $$$ you want to spend on one!
love the channel. One question, when polishing with compound is it best to tape off the black trim as not to leave white chalk marks on the black trim? When would you tape off or not to tape off? Thanks in advance.
It’s always a good idea to tape off trim, especially when using heavier compounds as they can definitely stain some plastics. As you get better control with the polisher you don’t need to tape as much but it’s always a good idea. If I’m doing a light polish with a foam pad I’ll tape only some of the time for example.
You can take a reading on your door jamb, where there’s usually less clear coat, and figure out the difference. If it says 5mils though you’re in good shape for some correction!
What are some price ranges for the services? Like for paint enhancement, 1 step and 2 step and what’s a good range I should charge for a 2 year sealant and a 7 year coating on top of that? I’m just starting out paint correction and need a good range Ik the size matter
I'd recommend the enhancement polish for sure. No need to go nuts on your dailly driver unless you're really particular. If you were planning to install a ceramic coating I would for sure do a One-Step or Two-step though.

@@MlleVB One and done would be great for a one-step. I've never used it personally but it looks like it would do the trick. I'd use a medium cut foam polishing pad and call it a day! Polishing twice a year with that shouldn't do much to your clearcoat 👍🏻
Still confused about the one step. How do you avoid the haziness if you are using a heavier compound? What product would you use for a one step since you use an all in one for an enhancement?
I wouldn’t use a heavy compound if just doing a one-step. However, when combined with a foam pad they can still finish down nicely on harder clear costs. Most of my one-steps involve a medium cut polish like Sonax Cut and Finish or 3D One on a medium foam pad. Every paint system is different though so you always need to check with proper lighting to make sure it’s finished down properly with no haze or micro marring.
Not really. It’s a great finishing polish but it needs a bit more cut for a one step. That’s where Sonax Cut and Finish comes in and has been my go to lately!
Well i did my first paint enhancement this past weekend and it was awesome. There neighbor book and now another for this sunday and a 1step paint correction next sunday so im super excited to get into ito it ever since i did my first one people have been booking me!! Also im a weeken warrior right now with me working full time. So greatful and excited!!

just to clarify: do you perform the same amount of passes at the same speed and pressure with enhancements and one steps or is an enhancement a fast, one or two pass, with quick arm speed?
Enhancements are quicker arm speed and less pressure for sure! Usually not using any correction lights either. Just a few passes to further clean the paint and restore some gloss. A one step for me is much more focused. I will do some test spots to find the best possible pad/polish combo that removes the most defects while still leaving a great finish. It’s usually 4 slow passes with more pressure and lightening up on the last one.

@@nickherbin8094 for enhancements I have my go to that I 9/10 use: Optimum Hyper Polish on an orange foam pad. For one-steps it’s all about what works with the specific paint. I always start with a medium cut compound that finishes well and a specific pad depending on if the paint is hard or soft to my knowledge 👍🏻
Depends on the condition and also the type of paint on the vehicle, but you can get a lot of correction out of a proper one step sometimes! A two-step will always deliver more correction though and is especially a good option on black vehicles.
They make paint depth gauges that can tell you a bunch of info regarding the thickness of the paint and clear. They range in price from a couple hundred to $1,000+. A simple one that just tells you the thickness of paint and clear combined is sufficient enough!
