I cannot stress how helpful this video has been. I've been avoiding paint correction because it looked like an annoying, extremely time consuming and tedious process, but this gave me the confidence to dive in on an old beater in my drive way, and I'd never thought to ask a body shop for trash panels! I really like how straight forward and pragmatic this channel is compared to a lot of other detail channels. Thank you for making this video!

I think this was a really good video. The fact that we get to see how it is for a beginner to start out is very educational. It is a fantastic way to understand a bit of the things you encounter when you are new. It will be a nice series to watch your protege take steps forward. It is a way for you to answer some of the questions that comes up. You are a great teacher!

Thanks for sharing. I have recently acquired a '04 PT Cruiser GT that was sitting abandoned in the Florida sun. It was very dirty (from rain I presume), so I washed and clay barred it. The paint is now smooth but still has what appears to be pitting in the clear coat. I tried doing some oxidation removal with my 20 year old cheap Craftsman orbital buffing machine and the first of the three steps of Meguiar's clean-polish-wax package, but it had little impact after making 3 passes with just the cleaning solution. From the limited results, I presume the cleaning chemical has lost its efficacy and/or is probably is not harsh enough to begin with. Thus, I've acquired some "Diamond Cut" grade cutting compound and bought a cheap rotary machine from Harbor Freight. Given my power upgrade, I guess I'm wondering at which point I should stop as I'm trying to clean up the clear coat pitting and how to tell if the damage to the clear coat is not repairable or into the base paint. I am prepared to resort to wet sanding and repainting/coating if need be, but I honestly cringe thinking that I might have to resort to more drastic measures, especially if the job doesn't warrant it. Any advice?

Hi Brian and thank you for the video! 👍 One question. You always say your speed setting is between the 3rd and 4th speed... But how many rpm's is this? As we all know it differs from polisher to polisher. On the Flex PE 14-2 150 it will be around 1200 - 1500rpm, on the Maxshine it will be much higher... so whats your recommendation on the exact speed in rpm's?

why does the colour disappear after being washed or rain after I've corrected a scratch. Wet sanded - Angelwax fine compound polish finished....it looks great but as soon as I wash the car or after it's been raining the colour washes off the worked area. What am I doing wrong or do I need to clear coat the worked area....

Man I’ve seen so many bs videos with people using lil 4 inch Dual Actions and how they talk about rotary’s are “dangerous” and “hard to use” but my pops taught me about the makita with a wool pad for cutting instead of those incredibly hot foam pads, the only thing I’d point out to you is you should get a rotary with a slow start function and put your compound into a ketchup bottle and squirt it directly into the paint you can learn how to pick up the compound or polish with the pad and the sling will only come from attempting to pick up all the liquid at once instead of slow incorporating it into the pad.
