So Priya really texted Pete and had coffee with him and said that they should be a part of each other's lives just so that she could blindside him and use him as a prop in her exhibition. Imagine if that exhibition had gone to plan too, especially if Pete hadn't made all of those friends. For all Priya knew he was still in a really awful and lonely place. With all of the things he's struggling with, there is no way the people there (who were there for Priya) would have seen Pete as sympathetic. So glad that Pete has some friends who try to look out for him.

Brennan as DM is just astounding. Developing this campaign is kind of insane. His ability to craft this second world is absolutely awe inspiring.

I love Kingston as a concept. The fact that when he does his magic, THE COMMUNITY LITERALLY GATHERS TO HELP HIM! He's actually got late stage protagonist powers. Everyone he's ever helped comes to aid him in his time of need. Its amazing.

Can we just acknowledge that a random spirit guardian did something that the entire party failed to do in the last campaign. They got on the table on the first try.

As ox is getting killed, "don't worry Ricky, I can't die." Brennan looks right into the camera and goes, don't worry, the dog is fine. He knew he was about to get some John wick wrath on him if he did that for real

In retrospect, the reveal of Inferno’s true nature shouldn’t have surprised me.

I love the flavor of Kingston's magic and how it's basically just meant to bring people together and unite them through help

The way Murph looks at Emily as she beats the shit out of demons made me believe in love again

I see that Murph still gets so fucking hype when Emily kicks the living shit out of someone

The episode in which the whole party realizes that there's a reason why Ricky's day job is a LOT more than just being Mr March and why he has like...equipment and shit for his day job.

I've noticed something subtle but brilliant about these encounters. As a DM, game balance is very difficult. You're always on a knife's edge between the two worst possible outcomes of trivial empty victories and party wipes. But Brennan does something clever: every encounter I've seen him run has been just blatantly unfair, and far outclasses the party. But to compensate, he's constantly cheating in favor of the players. He lets them choose what proficiencies to use for rolls, he lets them break rules for virtually any excuse, it goes without saying he controls the villains. Usually he masks this with some kind of improvised little story, but in the subway encounter he just flat-out told Kingston to reroll a death save because he wanted a better outcome. This is amazing because it lets the players have free rein to try whatever crap they want, while feeling like the DM is on their side, yet giving him great ability to covertly alter the difficulty at will.

Yeah honestly I think Pria deserved everything that happened to her this episode. I'm glad Pete finally got over her, in hindsight everything she's done is from a place of snobbery. Glad Sophie got revenge for her husband. Plus it was bloody brilliant having a fight in a burning building when one of the player characters is a fire fighter.

The casting giving valid reasons as to why Sophia should break open the ground to go through. Me thinking about how dramatic it is to go through the ceiling to murder the woman who murdered your husband, and me believing that's the only reason she should.

I absolutely love that this fight was all about trying to do the right thing in spite of personal cost. It's been a major theme of the adventure, especially the last episode, and I do like the way that the "always save the powerful hostage" message was both played straight (Willie letting Sofia get the final blow) and subverted (the people are just people, but still important to save). Excellent work, everyone. Also, I love that the battle against Infierno specifically was really Ricky and Sofia's fight. From the first blow to the last, her thematic arch-nemesis and *actual* arch-nemesis were laying down the big scary martial damage with every reason to want her gone. Also cool that Pete did more buffing/neutralising while Kingston was laying down constant damage. Really an inversion of the classic sorcerer/cleric dynamic *and* (as they mention later) a new colour for both of them, while also perfectly suiting their characters. Kingston was just DONE with this shit by the end, while Pete never stopped trying to make people feel better through the fight.

kugrash's spider gives me the exact same vibe as the kinky vampire from the zombie bar in fantasy high
