I purchased a 600c about a year ago and never heard that cracking sound. I love the speaker so much I just ordered a pair of Premier 800fs to go with it.

I came back to this video review for a 2nd time. I have hearing difficulties and am searching for a very good center channel that minimizes my issues and is a step up from my current Elac Debut c5.2. This Paradigm series looks great and has the specs that I am seeking but YM's assessment is spot on for my needs. Thanks for the objectivity plus he tells you honestly the sound that he prefers.

I have a good question!? Did you figure out how to put the rubber feet onto the 600c so it sits flat? I tried to figure out that paper that came for setting the feet up for all the different angles and it made zero sense. Any help would be appreciated! Also can the feet be removed without damaging the gloss black to position them in the proper locations if need be? Thank you. 👍😊

youthman...one more question upgrading to a 7.2.4 I already have an onkyo 810.....my onkyo is not bad, except the arc hdmi is damaged ...could I just run my onkyo as my amp and just get the Marantz 7012 that would save me around 1k, instead of buying the 8012 please help....I live in Talladega and theres not too many audio experts in the area....thanks philip

Hi Wayne, my theater journey started about 20 years ago with a Velodyne CT-100 (10" with 100 watt amp), then upgraded to Velodyne F-1500 (15" with 250 watt amp), then a single Velodyne HGS15 (15" with 1250 watt amp), then Dual HGS15's, then I bought a Klipsch RSW-15 and it performed as well as Dual Velodyne HGS15's, then throughout the years I eventually purchased 3 more RSW15's. LOL. It wasn't until recently that I purchased Dual SVS PB16's to replace the 4 Klipsch RSW15's. I have not heard the Velodyne SPL series nor the R24F and R25C. I'm not too thrilled with the Best Buy Klipsch Series. My recommendation if the budget is small, consider buying quality used Klipsch gear. I've found some KILLER Youthman Deals over the years on Craigslist, OfferUp, LetGo and Facebook Marketplace. That will allow you to buy higher Klipsch Series Speakers for possibly less than you can buy brand new lower model speakers.

If anyone’s put off by the review, I’m actually running this same setup currently with Premier 100B’s as rears and it’s awesome. I think paradigm has learned their lesson as my center channel is perfect (no cracking, thank god) If you’re a fan of the paradigm sound though, these have been a blast for music and movies. Not to mention they look great!

I was very lucky to find both the 800F and the 600C for 1000$ used in sweden!!! Bought them the same night and drove 400km to not lose the opportunity! Absolutely love them as an upgrade from DALI Oberon 7 + Oberon Vocal.

I’m trying my best to be as unbiased as I can in my reviews. I realize my ears prefer a certain sound but I still want to share what my ears hear as I mentioned in the video, not everyone likes a detailed, lively speaker. Soft some tweeters are much more laid back than say a horn loaded tweeter.

So when you test speakers how much time do you generally spend tuning and what tools are you tuning with? What type of RTA?

I typically spend about an hour with Audyssey (for home theater), and an SPL Meter. I do not have an RTA. I have purchased a UMIK-1 and have just started to use REW (have a lot to learn with it). Would like to buy a MiniDSP as well.

Thank you Greg. My desire is to share my experiences, whether good, bad or indifferent. I would like to hear the Goldenear sometime. So far, my ears have always been drawn to Horn Loaded Tweeters found in Klipsch. RF7 have large 1.75” Titanium Compression Drivers and I love the detail and liveliness they produce

Hi Youthman, congratulations for your channel and reviews, I was surprised by the issue of the defect that you noticed, when moving the speakers that made noises, do you know if Paradigm has expressed itself about that? or if some other forums have noticed the same problem? Or maybe it was just the ones that touched you? I have the plan to acquire the 800F for next year, I had the Goldenear Triton7 with which I was in love, but in Mexico there is no longer the distributor of this brand, and now I participate with a company that brings the Paradigm and Anthem brands to Mexico . Good video. New Subscriber. You have saved me some potential grief. I am needing to replace my center channel and this one was on my short list. My front and surround speakers are Paradigm Studio Reference speakers (100's for mains) and they are built like a tank and sound great. Unfortunately the Studio series is discontinued and the Premier seems to be taking its place. I saw them in person locally and I could tell that they were not of the same quality. Your review confirms my suspicions. Now I need to find a center that compliments my Paradigm Studio speakers. I am thinking the SVS Ultra center may be good option because it also has an aluminum dome. There is a Revel Performa I am considering as well but $2000 is going a little above what I want to spend. Any suggestions?

Thanks Spider Man. I had the RF83 / RC64 in my theater room for many years. I had an opportunity to buy a pair of LaScalas super cheap so I bought them just to hear, but planned on selling them. Problem was they blew away the RF83 in detail, sound stage and midrange so I sold the RF83 / RC64. I LOVE my RF7 III but there is a reason the new LaScalas are $8000 / pair and the RF7 III are $3200 a pair. They don’t have a ton of bass but the LaScalas simply are the best sounding speaker I’ve ever owned

Not a good idea to have him talk about anything but klipsch lol. He doesn't really have an ear for flat sound. No 10k peak, he's out, I've watched most of his reviews and all of the speakers he likes have a bunch of stored energy at 8-10k. He also describes "bright" sound incorrectly. Bright occurs at 3k ish (b&w), while he thinks it's 8-10k. It makes me think he has some hearing loss, as you lose your high frequency hearing first.

well this was a surprise, all other reviews i’ve watched and read sing the high praises of the premier line, but then you mentioned you prefer klipsch and it all made sense, you’re in the horn camp! haha that’s cool, i love a more natural sound like paradigm, klipsch makes me feel like my ears are going to bleed after 20 minutes lol. to each their own. keep up the good work! ps: i was a bit paranoid after watching the video, went and picked up my center channel and both towers, no cracking!! wooh! haha

Yeah I found over the years you either like the sound of a horn or you don’t. There’s not many people in between. The paradigm is definitely a lot more laid-back than my ears prefer. They just didn’t wow me. After my video, they looked into the issue with the crackling and let me know they fixed it

@@Youthman i hear ya (pun unintended) we all take in sound differently, my ears are very sensitive to details, i actually thought the premiers were too bright and clear when i got them and got ear fatigue after a few hours. my previous speakers (energy) were even softer and more laid back... took a few weeks to adjust and appreciate them, these are as lively as i can enjoy, the prestige is even more detailed and in your face, i didn’t enjoy them as much, win win for me since these are less than half the price haha. really appreciate that you take time to answer your subscribers! you have a great week.

I agree woth your assessment of this line. I have Paradigm reference V5 setup and love them. I went to audition the Premiere line which I was thinking of getting for my beach house. I was disappointed with how quiet (laid back) they were. They are nothing like the V5 line. Although I do like their prestige line and LOVE their Personna line. So much so that they are on my short list for my theater rebuild. Great review. YM!

Thanks Ian. I listened to them with the Anthem MRX1120 and my Marantz SR8012 to make sure it was the receiver that was hindering performance.

I reviewed both receivers on my channel and I ended up preferring the Marantz over the Anthem due to ease of setup, not needing a laptop to calibrate, and the biggest thing was the Anthem removed a lot of the low end impact from my subs. Even adding room gain didn’t have the same experience as with the Marantz.

Keep up the good work on these videos Youthman! Hopefully it's moreso the demo units you got were from a bad batch as crunching sounds are bad. Paradigm makes all but their Monitor line in Canada, so that was surprising the construction of these Premier (not Prestige that you goofed on calling them) line speakers are now in question. As I read elsewhere where you commented on that we all have different ears and sound preferences, I would say Paradigms are known for a more "laid back" sound. I've owned Paradigm Monitor and Studio line speakers and have always appreciated that kind of sound. I know you're a Klipsch guy and those are definitely known as forward sound with horn loaded metal dome tweeters. Which also brings up that the XPAL tweeters on Paradigms are not soft dome, as the "PAL" in "XPAL" stands for Pure Aluminum. Paradigm has used aluminum in their higher lines for a long time now. Their monitor line once used Titanium and they use beryllium in their top of line speakers. If I recall correctly, SVS has aluminum tweeters in their speakers as well, but it sounds like from what you're saying that they also have a forward sound too.

Thanks Jeff. You are correct, I did state Prestige instead of Premier in one part of the video. I had assumed the Dome Tweeter was a soft dome and didn't realize what XPAL stood for. Thx for the explanation.

premier or prestige? @8:48 you conclude with the Paradigm Prestige name but during all presentation you are talking about Paradigm Premier 800F and 600C... confusing.... I have the Prestige series and BTW they don't make that cracking sound if I move them.

Common sense says I would be referring to the speakers in the video that I was reviewing. 👍 I have since been told that they resolved the issue with the veneer crackling.

Thanks for the review. I'm not sure if your speakers were damaged to offer a pure review with them making that sound? Good they fixed it as a production error? It is exactly what I was looking for though. My room is small with really high ceilings though. Laid back sound is best because right now my Klipsch 440c though sounds great, it's just way too forward so when an explosion happens my ears want to explode too lol. If I lower the volume, then I can't hear the dialogue. If I adjust the channel levels for the left and right then it's off sounding. So maybe I need a laid back sounding speaker...

It definitely wasn’t due to damage, because all three speakers they sent me did the exact same thing. And if I remember correctly, they were all shipped on a pallet and definitely had no damage to the boxes.

Good review. I think the point you make about them being more laid back and not so in your face could will be a deliberate design intention of Paradigm. I have a very old set of the Paradigm reference series speakers. I remember the same thing being said back then too. A friend even went as far as to say they were rubbish compared to he's B & W 600 series at the time. I got a chance later to do a direct comparison between the two, and whilst initially the B & W's sounded brighter with more in your face detail, it quickly became apparent that their over brightness became very fatiguing with prolonged listening, even to the point where it felt very artificial. Where as the Paradigms remained silky smooth with a very natural tone. I always felt the General's voice when giving he's speech about 'going and getting him the hell out of there, in Private Ryan, to be full of such warm natural tone through the Paradigm CC350 when cranked up, where as it became a bit grating, and artificial through other speakers I tried. Paradigm definitely have their own sound. As you say, it's down to personal preference :)

Construction quality control sound to be an issue. But you mentioned a lack of dialogue, I wonder if that’s from the center having a smaller mid than the L+R.

@@Youthman - further about my bad experience with the 600C - MOST of the time during action movies dialogue is unintelligible, you have to really concentrate to get the dialogue, apart from it being shrill and tinny as described in other posts. Should mention though in fairness that I've had older model Paradigms (2 years ago) and they performed a lot better than the 600C

Nice review Youthman. I have the Acurus A200 amp also along with an A200x3. I have Paradigm P Reference Studio 60 and 20 with I believe CC-350. I think they are all V1. I got way back in late 90’s. Still have it all along with M&K subwoofer. The finish is Black Ash so there is no laminate cover. Dang I would hate a cracking sound for a 1k speaker.

Cool Wayne. My first home Theater was Polk. One day I bought a small system that had a Velodyne F1500 sub with a pair of Klipsch CF2 and KV3. Plan was to sell the Klipsch to pay for the sub. Once I heard the detail from the CF2, I sold my Polk System and began building a Klipsch home theater. I’ve owned a few pair of B&W and keep coming back to the horns in Klipsch. Lots of great speakers out there. Just depends on what your ears prefer.

These 800f`s with a sub woofer sound insanely accurate I am unsure what you were looking for when you were listening to them. They do lack that heavy bass but after being broken in with a good sub woofer and good amp they do sound quite fantastic. I cannot speak about them at max volume since I never need to go that high but at mid volume the clarity is crisp even more so then the Klipsch I would say. I owned a pair of RF-7 ii and for accurate clean sound I would lean towards the 800f`s but I understand the loud in your face sound you were speaking about with the Klipsch could be appealing to some.

We all hear differently and have different taste in what sounds best to our ears. I prefer a more lively, detailed sound that makes me feel like I’m in the movie or at the front row of a concert. The Klipsch LaScalas and RF7 III have those characteristics. My ears preferred them over the 800F but they are in an entirely different league of speaker too so that should be expected.

The 800F are more in line with Klipsch RP-800F. The RF7 III have dual 10” woofers, real wood veneer and a massive 1.75” compression driver tweeter. The 800F are no comparison whatsoever to the RF7 III.

Almost didn’t bought those speakers because of this review. Glad I had the opportunity to try them out myself borrowing those speakers from my local hifi-store. I ended up trusting my own ears. Unlike youthman I certainly had that smile on my face both while listening to music and movies. The movies Bohemian raphsody and a star is born gave me goosebumps. I found them very dynamic and they play very well with my two spl-1000 ultra subwoofers. I tried out more expensive (+30%) speakers aswell but I didn’t got that same smile. I could play all types of music and they just continued to deliver a smile on my face. Yes they are more laid back and unlike youthman I’m not a fan of that sharp sound wich makes me listening fatigue. This has to be one of the most priceworthy setups on the market. I gave 3470$ for thoose with a discount (i know US prices are a lot cheaper). Like all speakers It might take a week of playing before they sound like the demo setup I borrowed. This is no criticism of you youthman, you are doing a great job. I just urges people to use their own ears and not only trust magazines and reviews. In the end you are looking to find speakers that suits you and your own listening room.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with them. You’re exactly right. The best method is to listen with your ears in your own home connected to your own gear to know what you prefer. I do my best to share what I’m hearing as opposed to telling someone what I believe they should buy. Someone that prefers a more laid back sound would really enjoy the Paradigm sound. I love it when guys will ask what is the best speak Russian by. There’s absolutely no way to answer that question. I’m glad to hear that you found a speaker that puts a smile on your face and brings you happiness listening to them. Be blessed

It’s been a long time since I reviewed them but it was quite a bit louder then 80dB. My guess was over 100dB. I don’t listen that loud continuously but I do want to know if a speaker can handle high SPL.

I had both the paradigm premier speakers in this review as my first real home theater speakers. I liked them but didn’t love them. Too laid back for my taste. I did not have the cracking issues you did though. I had them for a couple months and finally sold them so I could get Klipsch rf 7 iiis and the rc64iii !!

Strange with the cracking, I don't have that. If you like lively Klipsh sound, you really have to go with a titanium, or aluminum dome. The older Paradigms with the titanium tweets are more in your face, but I have mostly grown out of that in favor of something more natural because that is fatiguing over time.

Thanks. My absolute best recommendation is to go hear as many brands as you can with your own ears. I cannot tell you what sound your ears will prefer. Even go hear used gear from Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and Let Go.

So I’ve had my 600C for about 1.5 months now. It replaced a Studio 690 v4 which I snagged along with a pair of Studio 60 v4’s, a Signature C3 and ML Dynamo 700 all for $500. Needless to say selling just the C3 and Dynamo paid for the 600C. I haven’t heard any of the cabinet crackling you mentioned and placed 18” on a stand about 4” below my OLED it’s has certainly sounded phenomenal. Obviously my opinion is subjective, but I have found that angling the 600C towards ear level as well as applying Multi EQ-X up to 350hz has made it one of the best CC’s I’ve ever owned in the $1000 price range.

If you have the possibility to get your hands on the Prestige series to review you should because they will give you a better audio experience than the ones you just reviewed. I am pretty sure that you got a bad batch. I have Paradigm speakers a Reference series called Millenia 300 for floorstanding and the Millenia 30 for CC. And I love them

Thanks for the review. I think could have been some bad glue. Even some of the most reliable companies in world have some product issues from time to time like Apple, Toyota, etc. I think their history of quality stands, especially if they did/do address this. Did you hear back from them on it? Also, if you like the klipsch in your face sound you should get the PSA MTM towers and matching center.

I just got these off Ebay for $1400 a few months ago and am pretty happy with them. You're right about them having a more laid back sound, which is what I prefer. I also have SVS Prime and Ultra speakers but prefer the Paradigms. That's interesting about the cracking. I don't have the center, but I put an 800f on it's side and picked it up by the ends, and thankfully no cracking from mine. :)

The Premiers are much more a 2 channel speaker than home theater. The cracking you hear may be the veneer separating from the wood. You are right, I would contact Paradigm. It is the Paradigm Premier, not the Prestige.

It likely was a bad batch of glue in between the MDF and laminate. I should have contacted Paradigm as they would have shipped replacements.

I’m pretty sure that a company with a reputation like paradigm would produce a speaker where the veneer makes that cracking sound every time it’s picked up. I will admit that it’s disappointing to see that Paradigm would let something like that pass through their quality control/assurance team but stuff happens and hopefully it was just an oversight. You also referred to them as the “Prestige” line towards the end of your review. Anyway, I always enjoy your videos and reviews and love seeing the ins and outs of your theater room. Keep it up, big fan!

Aside from this review, it's the first I am hearing anything poor quality of them at all. I'll have to look into it more myself. (I just got hired to work for them here in Toronto) - Tho.. I have a Paradigm CC-390 which is essentially the older version of the premier 600C center channel with a couple notable differences. Its ported and has 2 x mid-range drivers side by side and is a bit bigger and heavier ( 38" x 8" x 15" 70lbs) other than this they are quite similar. Not a chance in hell I would trade it for one of these newer versions!

I re-run Audyssey anytime I use new speakers. It wasn’t a calibration issue. I had them on a separate 2ch setup that doesn’t have any calibration controls with the same results. I just wasn’t impressed with their budget friendly line.

I had high hopes for these speakers. But after your review....poof! My hopes are dashed 😕. I prefer a more forward sound quality like you. And the crackling sound from the laminate seems to indicate quality control issues. By the way, I think the X-PAL tweeter is actually aluminum, not soft domed. Thanks for the review. Yes I had higher expectations coming from a company that makes speakers that are $17,500 each. Ah..I guess I assumed when it said XPAL Dome that was a Soft Dome like my old Polk Audio had. Thx for the correction.
