This is a great triumph. You could so easily have opened out the bearing holes too much, but you didn't. You must have great patience. The end result is excellent. Nice restoration of paintwork and numbering. On the subject of quartering: some companies had right-hand lead and others left-hand lead. As Ian Rice said: don't worry about it too much as the bloke who can see both sides of a locomotive at once has other things to worry about.

hello Mike, great job on the terrier, i remember 1976, we had a very hot summer and the pubs ran out of drink in west london [southall area] great times, and when Hornby was run by old school mangement and not by clowns.

Ah yes, I remember it very well. Never seen the lawn so brown and earth all cracked. Still, I'd go back in a flash if I could

great job Mike... On the transfers point...I have taken to making my own waterslide transfers (decals) using my ink jet printer and decal paper... After printing...I just spray with a couple of coats of clear varnish first and then they can go in the water and slide onto the model... finish up with a coat of clear varnish once on the model to protect and seal onto the model...

That's a great idea!

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited there are quite a few how to vids on RU-vid. Also there are two types of decal paper.. one completely transparent, which is fine for any transfer that does not have white in the image... and another paper which has white in the paper ... inkjet printers do not print white - they rely on the white in the paper... Hope that helps if you interested in this method... cheers...

Excellent work Mike. Im actually astonished that's your first transfer job! That paint is great stuff. Now sold under pheonix precision if you ever run out and need a colour match. One more useful tool for your kit... A 1/8th tapered reamer. Sometimes when you solder in bearings they can shrink ever so slightly. The reamer will open them back up gently and wont go oversized. White metal soldering, brass chassis work, and now transfers. I feel this is building to a kit... Southeast finecast make a nice G6 for a simple starter kit. I don't recall seeing a G6 on here. Anyway, great to see the old kits are being kept going by MRU works.

Hi, the are supplied reversed, you cut away the section you want, lay it face down on the loco (it's slightly tacky) once in place press firmly, then dampen the backing tissue and slide it off, blot and you are done
