As an ex-Hawks fan, I truly feel Kaner hasn’t had as much fun on the ice as he’s had as a Wing in a long while. I really wanted him to have another playoff run but he’s been a great fit in Detroit, and despite the coaching issues and holes in the roster, I do hope he gets to stay. The team is so likeable and having seen Kaner’s performance in half a season, I think he will be pretty unstoppable after the off-season of training and more rehab.
Hopefully the situation he speaks of is still here in Detroit. Not sure you could ask for a better veteran presence, plus it’s good fanservice. Showtime in Detroit helped put us back on the map.
we were doing that without Kane thats something people forget we were hot prior to him signing with us, him signing here only added to our fire power. this team put itself back on the map Kane did not do that on his own!!
@@futuredirector23 We were only hot in the sense that we were outscoring the defensive lapses....I dont think that was sustainable. I felt having Kane on the team helped to keep standards high and helped to outscore the defensive lapses over a longer period than could have been sustained without him. A bit like fitting a turbo onto an already decent engine. You'd rather have it on there than go back to stock, put it that way.
If he returns with training all summer,he could have the speed again like TJ oshi( age 38) And the talent he already has Holy crap he would be similar to the days of Chicago 😮
I want both a Kane jersey and a Raymond jersey. The only jersey I own is a Minnesota North Stars Broten jersey from 1991, but my husband owns more than one Red Wings jersey. Without names, however.
He has the potential to be better next year too for whoever he plays for. Different kind of offseason for him, back to standard offseason work rather than re-habbing. I'd like to see what a full season with Kane brings, and I'd like to see what a full off-season brings to him.
Me, too, but I think Detroit won’t offer him a contract that’s long enough. If so, it was at least fun while it lasted. Fun fact: He got 7 game winning goals in 50 games, that’s quite remarkable. The other players who have 7 or more GWG than him this season have played many more games.
Patrick Kane made it clear as day to me that he is desiring to finish his career in Detroit! The key points made in this interview were that he likes and respects Dylan Larkin as the teams leader, the Captain brought him here to see if it was a possibility for Kaner to have chemistry with the young guys and he does! Yzerman and Kaner both knew that his injury is behind him and his up side for 4 or 5 years will be epic to say the very least . . .
Detroit is one of those teams that should have the cap space for Patrick Kane. I expect Detroit to be a playoff team with Patrick Kane. Any other playoff contender probably won't have the cap space.
the way he talking he looking for a final 4yr payday. I want him to rejoin the rangers but there not going to dish out 4yr money for him. Maybe 2yrs tho.
@@Pablo-gl9djYou think Patrick Kane, after proving he's still a ppg player, is worth the same as the unknowns of Patrick Kane coming off major surgery? Delusional.
I wouldnt take anything he says too serious. He knows what to say to the media. Ultimately I think the chances of him staying will be 50/50 until he signs with a team
Thank you Patrick. What an unbelievable season after the unknowns from the off season surgery. Incredible player. Glad you enjoyed your time with the Wings. Hope we can make something work in the future
I honestly believe the player he influenced the most was Lucas Raymond. I dont think there is much of a coincidence that Razor's numbers jump the same year we have Kane, not just that but the moments in which those numbers were delivered by Raymond - clutch moments, he really stepped up. I'd love to get Kaner back just on that basis, then there's his own contribution. Plus other young guys he can influence. Stevie has to keep that in mind before considering a lowball offer. He's worth investing in.
I’d love to see him back. I enjoyed him in Detroit more than I ever thought I would. I think if he re-signed in Detroit, he draws some free agents he wants to play with, and with youth talent on the doorstep, the Wings will likewise be on the doorstep of a couple cup runs. Loved having you Kaner, hope you’re strongly considering coming back. Hope Stevie Y. has a term and amount that work for you.
When i saw Your post that You had joined The Wings, i thought it was my mind playing tricks on me. You, like Legends before Yourself, did not shy away from the big stage. You did it Live. A true Mad Man. To have not taken the back seat, but rather grab the spoked wheel by the mantle, like Zeus’ Thunderbolt.. when You have already earned Your Wings flying high inn The Windy City.. having had burnt it down twice and won’ce more for the road.. All those hard miles later, You’re burning rubber & high octane now inn The Motor City.. To be who You are and to Show it Time and Time again and once more in this kind of Red.. Echoes like a resonator from an All American made machine. A Metal God made with a Heavy Clutch that makes for a smoother ride for its passengers. What a joy the ride has been. i am forever enamoured. Forever grateful. Forever homaged.
Ya I see it like you,I been watching him for years just like I like watching Matthews now Can't get enough of successful American born players And I was shocked and excited when he wanted to play for us Dream come true
Being totally honest, here, I wasn't that big a fan of the decision to sign Patrick Kane, back when the news first broke. I am happy to say that he has proved me 100% wrong throughout his time in Detroit, though. PK's veteran presence on the ice and in the locker room (a real plus point for the team's younger players), his compete level, his handspeed and amazing puck handling/stick work, and his sniper's eye for just the right shot and shooting moment AND, as shown here, his good-natured, relaxed interactions with the media/fans, have ALL combined to make him a huge POSITIVE during this season's exciting Red Wings campaign. Good luck to Patrick Kane in 2024/25 and beyond, wherever he ends up playing👏👍!
Steve will keep him, Yzerman knows the importance of veteran players and who better than a veteran superstar to help the up-and-coming superstars. Yzerman took the chance on him to start, I think he was giving him a cushion to get comfortable in. Plus, you do what Yzerman tells you to. Considering these guys have only played together this one year, there is a storm coming over the horizon next season, and it is draped in red.
If I were to tell Kane anything it would be that if he was with us day one, we would have easily made the post season. Also, if him and cat stay, they the have the the whole off season to train together and get that classic dynamic duo chemistry back
id did not want to like the video because it was liked 88 time, but I like this man now! Never paid attention to players from other teams, checking them out for who he was like a person! And I respect a lot of players wings or no wings, but one's a wing, alway's a wing! thank you for this year Kane! Wish you the best in life and hope your agent and Steve wil come to an agreement!
Clearly a much better statement today than before. It gives me a little more peace of mind that there is actually a very good chance he remains a RW. So terms and a bit sweet about who he will play with, sounds like Kane, so just get the deal done Stevie and what ever you do DO NOT DARE LOW BALL THIS GUY. If by chance it doesn't work out here, then Thank you Kane for what you brought to the team and the fantastic memories you created with your fellow players of course.
I'm trying not to read too much into his not too promising answers, but to be fair, of course, he's gonna answer passively. He's gonna wanna see what other teams can offer. I'm really hoping his friendship with Cat and hopefully Raymond is enough to get him to stay.
Really hope Kaner returns, it was great having him in the Winged Wheel and he sure was fun and entertaining to watch. Perhaps he can get a better chance at a Cup somewhere else, but there is zero doubt how much he meant to Wings improvement & success this year. The Wings young players must really benefit from his presence and skill.
I’m kind of thinking he’d like to sign with a team that offers him a contract long enough that he can stay until he retires, I think that’s worth much more than another cup for him. Of course I don’t know this, I’m only guessing. I’m afraid Detroit is not going to offer him more than 2 years, but I’m still totally guessing. My theory is he’ll be offered exactly what he wants In Buffalo.
If his only goal is to chase a cup he wont be back, if he's interested in making some money and helping turn an organization around and to a cup contender he's in the right place. I hope he comes back
I get the feeling by the way he's talking that he wants to play for a top team in the league. I truly hope he comes back but I wouldn't expect it to happen.
I get more of a feeling that he wants stability, that is a longer contract. Maybe four years? Not sure that fits with the Yzerplan, or maybe it’s exactly right. Just guessing. I think he’ll choose Buffalo.
If anyone can get Kane to stay it's Yzerman. Good thing is we still have plenty of cap space and the cap is increasing next year. First priority is locking up Raymond and Seider.
My guess is he wants a longer contract than Detroit is going to offer him. Not having to move in a couple of years again, wanting stability. Buffalo? Anyway, in case he doesn’t come back, it was sure fun while it lasted! ❤️
@@Corninthesky Yeah, and maybe he wants his son to grow up there, that makes sense. He seems to have enjoyed trying to help Detroit get into the playoffs, which is what he would be doing for Buffalo as well, I guess. Buffalo would surely benefit from the presence of a veteran like him. Maybe it depends a bit on who will be the new coach also.
I think they have a shot at signing him but given what he said I think he is looking at a getting a term that will take him to retirement, sounds to me like he is open but not interested in a rental contract, would help greatly if they get him a center or promise him he will be with Larkin.... but who knows - 88 probably doesn't even know at this point.
To me it sounds like hey I want to stay here but if it doesn't make sense I understand. I think Detroit has the cap space to sign him for the rest of his career.
If we lose Kane that will leave a big hole on the roster. He has been so clutch for us this year. But I'm not feeling super confident about him returning
I think this team had sweet chemistry before Kane. You could tell it threw them off a little when he first came on board. Just a different style player, and with him coming off an injury it took some adjustment. I’m glad he panned out but I don’t think him coming back is super critical. This team has weapons that can step up and find another gear. I could see Raymond really hitting his stride and getting up to 90+ points, Larkin too if he can stay healthy mentally and physically. That Larkin presser was tough to watch, I feel so bad for him going through what him and his wife did plus with injury and everything. I really am cheering for him to have a bounce back season.
He was literally a top three player for us. No body else can step up and match his skill and contribution aside from Larkin and Raymond. Copp? Veleno? Rasmussen? C’ man lol. He’s our third best forward.
@@xentricityy8832 I’d love to have him back but if we’re hinging our future on a 35 year old dude, we got bigger problems. They were firmly in a playoff spot when they got Kane so they obviously had a pretty decent team already without him. I think they’d be fine if he left and say resigned Sprong and Ghost instead.
Man I thought he brought all to the team. I’ve seen a lot of people complain that he wasn’t aggressive enough and blah blah blah. But I don’t think that was his job. I hope he stays!
I dont know fellas, it doesn't sound like hes coming back to me. The only thing he really shared was he wants a contract with longer term. Going from Chicago, NY to Detroit. So he wants a longer term. But hes also keeping his cards close to the vest. I would love to have this guy back, even at a longer term. If we can give Holl a 3yr deal, we can give this dude a 3yr deal. But how he said "iv made alot of good memories playing here." Im kinda paraphrasing. But it doesn't sound good, i dont think he will come back. I hope im wrong.
If he walks because we are stuck paying Ras and Copp big dollars then WTF?!! We need to keep Kaner on the Wings. He'll be even better with a full offseason of pain-free conditioning. He wants to regain explosiveness and I am positive that he can improve on that. We're a better team with him in so many ways. Sure hope he returns.
Where’s that guy who comes into the comments and he has this biggest hard on for Kane he truly despises him. 🤣. He comes up with this stat where he’ll post the win/loss stat with and without Kane in the lineup each and every time. Thinking that it justifies not keeping Kane around or he did fuck all for the team while he was here.
I didnt understand his reasons on choosing to play for this team. I know hes won 3 cups but detroit was never a contending team this year. Very impressed with Lucas taking a huge step this year though
Well, it was fun having Patrick Kane with the Red Wings as a big Red Wings fan as I am, but he’s not gonna re-sign. I think he’ll go to the New York Islanders.
To be fair, none of the players have any team gear on in these interviews. I’d imagine most guys probably don’t wear any team gear outside the rink lol sorta corny
Uncle Fester let the second line die when he moved the Cat to the first line. Kane had no support and was left on an Island by himself. That line needs a winger who can score and a playmaking center if Kane decides to stay.
@@johngwozdz8456kane assisted on only 6 of debrincats goals all season. The last few games debrincat had as many goals as he had in 2 months with kane
Sounds like he ain’t coming back. He was great. Definitely deserves a bag but probably too high of a price for the wings. Multi year deal for $8+ mil a year for him is asking a bit much. Don’t blame Yzerman for whatever he does
Wow, btw, where's Uncle Fester's end of season news conference??? Guess he's hiding quietly behind the players as he did all season on the bench. Please Steve, fire him. Bring on Fedorov, or even Barube🙏🙏🙏
definitely not going back there. they kicked him and Toews out. there is serious mutual hatred now imo. people talked about Toews not going to the return game/Chelios night, that's why not i think. Kane only went to that game bc he was playing in it and had to.
