Going gluten, and dairy free has CHANGED my life so drastically. It’s frustrating to see how many women attack this lifestyle or find excuses to not try it or say it’s “too hard” because it’s really not. I think living with unmanaged pcos is much harder ! I think it’s just people who are comfortable with what they know and are used to. But if I have the choice between suffering from extreme fatigue, cystic acne, hair loss, extreme weight gain, achey joints, depression, unpredictable painful periods and the looming threat of diabetes and heart disease or swapping out my pasta for chickpea pasta, I’m going to hands down pick the latter. We’re so fortunate that we can reverse pcos symptoms with just diet and not have to rely on medications like insulin or thyroid medication. But we take that for granted all because we think we can’t live without cheese or ice cream, or because we think we need our family to adapt the lifestyle for us to stay compliant. I started this lifestyle in 2020 and was about 80 percent compliant (I didn’t bother with monitoring inflammatory oils) and I stayed on it for about 9 months. I lost around 32lbs just from diet alone. I hadn’t changed my sedentary levels or incorporate a fitness regimen. I didn’t count calories, and I most definitely did not starve. Before starting this lifestyle I would eat and feel hungry again 30 minutes later. Now I eat and I’m satiated for several hours, no cravings. I fell off my diet for about another 9 months (I just got complacent) and gained my weight back. All my symptoms returned. I didn’t realize how bad I let things get out of hand until I saw myself in a photo. It was a wake up call. I got back on the diet and it seemed to be easier the second time around. I’ve been back on 6months and this time I’ve lost 50lbs so far and am still averaging about 5lbs per month without doing anything extra other than swapping out gluten and dairy for other alternatives. I don’t even cut out all sugar. I just keep my sugar under 24gms per day. If I make anything sweet I use a blend of allulose and monk fruit (I can’t stand stevia or erithrytol). I use low glycemic ingredients and always try to incorporate a protein and fiber somewhere before I indulge if I do. It WORKS! Yes it requires effort but it’s worth it and our health is worth it. You don’t need your family to adopt this diet with you either. I do it alone in my family. I don’t cook extra meals for them. I just say this is what’s for dinner. You’re welcome to have some . If you don’t, you guys are free to grab something or make yourself some meals using anything in the pantry. Most of the dishes I make aren’t even huge changes to what they would eat before. It’s just small tweaks. I don’t feel like I’m losing or missing out on enjoying foods I used to. I’ve found so many ways to work around and make versions of dishes I used to enjoy and use ingredients that are good for me. There’s sooo many and every day the market for gluten and dairy free products just grows and grows. It’s doable and it’s worth it!

I think it’s very important to mention that gluten free products doesn’t mean healthy. Most of gluten-free and dairy-free foods contain starch, which is spiking blood sugar, and ultimately affecting pcos as well.

All of my questions in my mind were answered here. Thanks! Btw i finished my 30 days GF/DF then i tried to eat with gluten and dairy and noticed that i was absolutely bloating! I also tried to eat my fav chips before and I noticed that i dont like it anymore. my tastebuds have changed as well. Thanks for letting me realize all these years that im doing the wrong method for my pcos. And seeing how i tried the 30 days with slow weighted workout, helped me to lose more weight and not feeling more bloated and it also helped with my skin allergies. 😊 i will definitely go back again to gf/df. But my problem is still sweets coz i have sweet tooth lol. Though it's really hard to find foods here that don't have gluten and dairy, but being mindful and resourceful can help me deal with it. Thanks again!

I have been on an adventure recently, trying to find something that works. I have been gluten and dairy free and I found myself always hungry and still unable to lose weight. But I found a gal that is carnivore that invites female specialists onto her channel that really get to the meat of female hormones and our problems. She is on the Steak and Butter Gang channel. I have watch videos discussing the spike in stress hormones we get from coffee in the morning, the fact that our hormones are made of cholesterol and fat yet we limit them in our diets, and that low iodine causes weight gain, hair loss, and all the regular pcos symptoms. You may not want to be carnivore but I recommend giving her a watch. I have already kicked coffee and take iodine every morning. I eat lots more fat and I lost an inch around my waist in a week. I am less hungry, my skin and hair improved over night, and my sleep improved. She recently had a panel on and another gal talked about when and how women should fast, because some of us lose our periods doing intermittent fasting, but she describes when and how to fast so we don't lose our periods and can increase fertility.

People, trust me, I've lived with PCOS for 11 years now. My best advice, explore meals and WATCH how your body reacts to them and work with it. Whatever helps, stick with it. DO NOT follow any ONE person's advice or ONE diet, follow your body. Ive lost 15 pounds in one month. All because i listened to my body. Also, try not to become hooked on 'curing' PCOS, just see the syndrome as a partner that you have to work with and be healthy with. I have no children as yet. I want to start trying soon. PCOS or no PCOS, I trust my body to do the work.. P.S: Sugar is your worst enemy.

I have been following your podcast for a year and it helped me a lot with managing my insulin and I started to lose weight. However I still have endometriosis symptoms like migraine and extreme bleeding and pain that you can compare to having contractions. I was a vegan for 5 years but that made my endo worse. So i started eating wild fish again. The pain went a way the moment I reduced gluten (i already don't consume dairy or egg). I started to also use green powder (purest form) and inositol (they don't sell the one for Pcos in Europe where I live) and L glutenmine. I fixed my gut issues which was the root of the cause, I also stopped eating meat replacements and processed vegan foods in general. That made a huge difference. I though I would feel like this forever but somehow I healed myself with combining your information with information on how to heal your gut. The inflammation went away, along with my extreme bloating. I don't have hair lose, and I am not puffy anymore. Most important I don;t feel pain anymore during my period all because of healing my gut. I wish more people would educate women like me about it because that would save a lot of years of pain. I am open to share information with you for your podcast because i truly think it will help a lot of women.

I've been dairy free for over a month now. I noticed I didn't have hardly any cramps during my period this last month. I usually have to take 14 Tylenol over the course of a week during my cycle. That was a breath of fresh air. I am trying my best to go gluten free, it's just been a little difficult. I never eat bread anyways because I don't like it but I do love ketchup and soy sauce. I am still losing hair unfortunately. I'm hoping that will change over time.

Xylitol/Birch sugar is metabolized in the liver and with a fatty liver its not ideal to use it as a sweetener because of the amount you will be using. But its ok in small amounts for oral health, and its good for treating uti.

Is everyone with PCOS insulin resistant? How would you know if you are / arent? Is there a test for this? Thank you
@PeekingIntellect
@PeekingIntellect 15 дней назад
Normally you can take a blood glucose test to check your blood sugar. If the amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood is higher than normal, it can mean you’re insulin resistant. The ranges are different for everyone but if you’ve been fasting for 8 hours and you have a blood glucose (blood sugar) reading of 70 to 99mg/dl, that’s in the healthy range. Between 99-125mg/dl indicates insulin resistance or prediabetes. If you have 126 mg/dl or higher, it indicates you probably have diabetes. These numbers are only for fasting, you can look up blood glucose charts online to see healthy ranges before/after meals. Another indicator is your A1C, which is basically an average of your blood sugar readings over the last 3 months. Sometimes a healthy person can have a single really high blood sugar reading if they eat a big carb-heavy meal so A1C is a better indicator. You can buy a blood sugar tester (you put a drop of blood on a test strip) or get the test done at the doctor where they draw blood.

Things like eggs/meat/nut butters/nuts/wheat and glutein free flours/berries/hummus/dairy free cheeses etc... are expensive and I cannot afford any of these items 😢(Even homemade thinkings like home made hummus tahini is very very expensive) also I am allergic to peanuts+Bananas+Oranges). Things like bread and pasta which is cheap is what I can afford to buy and eat. Even vegtables I can barely afford 🤦🏼‍♀️. I also have extreme food issues. I only eat specific things/cooked/presented specific ways🫠. Like peas and corn but it needs to have butter. otherwise I will rather starve. I also don't drink much.

Great question! Taking birth control is a personal choice that should be made between you and your doctor. It is good to keep in mind that it only masks our symptoms and doesn’t address the root cause of your PCOS

Well, cutting gluten is not necessarily if you are not gluten intolerant etc, also it might cause overeating, low fiber, more cravings, high insulin. All are horrible for PCOS! JUST cannot understand why a dietitian promotes it to everyone!

Hi! If anyone can answer this it'b be grest 😅 Do you think that a life maintaining a certain weight (with all the good habits in our routine) is sustainable? or the gaining of weight as we grow older is inevitable?

I’m 56 and have been on Carnivore diet for about 7 months. Soooo, I put on a lot of weight since menopause, ie nearly 3 stone in 5 years. Since carnivore I have lost 3 stone. I plan to stay on carnivore as great results to my health as well as weight reduction. I hope this answers your question. I would say definitely sustainable 😊

It can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months for cycles to regulate with Ovasitol ❤ however, if the duration of your cycle is a concern, I would recommend talking to your doctor

There are tons of foods that contain plenty of calcium like Chia seeds and kale! I’ve got tons of recipes in The Cysterhood that can help if you don’t know where to start 🥰

@PCOSWeightLoss

Be sure to always take after meals and it is best to take once in the morning, and once in the evening, you can always try cutting the dose in half to see if that helps ❤

Every Cyster is different and taking birth control is a personal choice that should be made between you and your doctor. It is good to keep in mind that it only masks our symptoms and doesn’t address the root cause of your PCOS, so it is important to maintain a PCOS-friendly lifestyle while on birth control! ❤

@nikitamayday
@nikitamayday 6 месяцев назад
Forever, it’s a form of inositol which is a food and a water soluble nutrient, it’s very safe. As long as it’s a 40:1 ratio of the d-chiro to and myo-inositol forms.
