Your vids are always good. I found that delving into the “Keto products” starts to take us away from whole food and starts us on the road to the “processed” food and snack area. I’ve tried most but won’t buy again.
I do enjoy many keto products since many are so tasty and convenient and save me time vs preparing certain things myself. That said I try to limit packaged food items to 10-20% of my daily calories and get the rest from whole foods. It’s a strategy that has worked well for my lifestyle and my goals.
jean graze I echo this sentiment. Your RU-vid channel has exploded in popularity in a short amount of time. I work with some clients trying to build up their social media presence so this channel would be an interesting case study. But I think it comes down to the charisma, maturity, and professionalism Serious Keto has coupled with the incredibly useful content.
@@SeriousKeto you've just put/spoken your request out into the Universe. Your word is your wand & your request will soon manifest! Thanks for the excellent content.
Yes!! Put the collagen powder in coffee. I put the chocolate collagen powder in Starbuck's mocha flavored coffee with some HWC and a little sweetner.......boom......the BEST hot chocolate! And THAT salted caramel collagen powder.......is bomb!!! 💣💜 Really worth the $$.
I am happy for you for your success with you channel. However for myself I will stick with homemade whole foods over convenience foods. Keto is such a simple and affordable diet if you avoid all of the pre-made 'food' products. Looking forward to your recipe videos. Thanks for those.
I respect that. But there seems to be a significant chunk of the keto community that value the convenience of pre-packaged foods and are okay with the cost. I need to provide info to all my viewers. Thanks for the comment. 🙂
Hey Steve! Congratulations - great review. Thanks for letting us know about these keto products. There are so many out there in the "ketoverse" I never know what to buy!
I've purchased very few -- mainly because the cost turns me off. Fortunately, Perfect Keto sent me this stuff for free. I liked it enough that I placed a paid order with them this afternoon.
The Perfect Keto chocolate collagen powder is my favorite but I like to put it in a blender with ice, extra sweetener, almond milk, a tablespoon of cacao powder, and a little peanut butter or peanut flour.
Collagen is supposed to improve a number of things in your body: hair and nail strength, skin elasticity, and joint lubrication to name a few things. All of that is stuff I could use as I knock on the door of 52 years old (and about 30 of those years was abusing my body).
Serious Keto First of all you look great for your age. Collagen does three big things for me and I notice a difference when I don’t take it, either in the form of bone broth or a supplement like this Perfect Keto one. The most major effect is on my hunger satiety levels. It seems to curb my appetite even more than protein with the full spectrum of amino acids. The second big effect is on my gut. I struggle with digestive issues and collagen has been very healing for my gut health. And even as someone in my mid 30s I can tell a difference with it with my skin, hair, nails, and especially joints. I powerlift and collagen is amazing for post workout recovery for my joints and tendons. There are many different kinds of collagen, which can get confusing. Type 2 is found in chicken bone broth, and type 1 and 3 are usually found in collagen peptides like in the Perfect Keto collagen or most collagen peptide powder you buy. To cover my bases I drink both 1 cup of chicken bone broth and 10g of collagen peptides daily. You can easily make your own bone broth too - store bought is ok (Kettle and Fire has the best ones but they are very expensive) but you can make your own easily in an Instapot. Bobby at FlavCity has a good video on making your own bone broth. Thomas DeLauer and Bobby at FlavCity both have a lot of very informative videos on collagen that I would check out. Perfect Keto’s website also has some terrific articles on collagen.
@@HazerGore1185 I save all of my animal bones and once I get enough to fill the CrockPot, it's broth making time. And thank you for the compliment on my looking good for my age. Had you seen me a year ago, you would have thought I was 60 -- and not a healthy 60.
Some people will pay for the convenience factor, but I completely understand your position. My hope is that, like gluten-free, we see a decrease in price over time as more people adopt a low-carb lifestyle.
I have now caught up on all of your videos over the last few days (when I found you and subscribed) and I gotta say, I can't wait for more! While this product is not something I would use, I value your opinion on it.
I use and bought a lot of their products and I was sent a box of the bars and the chocolate chip cookie as a free gift and I really did not like them. I’m glad it was free.
I tried the salted caramel bar because you seemed to like them a lot. But ugh. I thought it was awful. Gave one to my daughter who thought it was terrible. You can send them back but it is at your own expense. Wish I hadn’t lost around 40.00!!!! Wish you lived next door so I could give you mine.
I love collagen and chocolate collagen sounds delicious. I always use less liquid than the instructions recommend because it’s always too watery. I’m eyeing your wine. You should do a video on keto friendly wines.
At some point, if I feel like getting an earful from the keto police (and probably rightfully so), I may do a video on alcohol that allows you stay in ketosis. I'm honestly a bit torn on it, because I used to be quite a heavy drinker and I don't want people to think that I'm endorsing it. We'll see...
Have you tried the cinnamon roll bars? I’m curious if you experienced an aftertaste/bitterness. I got 2 boxes of these on a promo and was so excited/ heard amazing reviews but questioning if I just got a bad batch or if maybe my tasters are just off. I love your reviews and all your testing - you really do take em for the team!!!! ;)
Serious Keto thank you..... I’m gonna try “baking them” see how that turns out. Lol. I’ve tried their nut butters and wowie wow wow, those are really good.
Hey Steve & anyone that can tell me, I'm on a Keto Journey but so confused with what whey is compared to MCT & all the other powder products.. What is the best whey as far as keto goes?????
The Salted vanilla caramel collagen powder .i happened to be looking at recently ,but its very expensive, and wondered about the taste. so I'm glad ya tried it. so I might give it a try. it's pay week anyway !!!!!
I bought 3 boxes of the bars and they came melted-i opened and ate one of each flavor i ordered and the chocolate had melted and gathered in the corner of the package. I sent them back, they reimbursed me. I ordered 1 box again in October, cooler month, and again it came melted. The taste was ok, not great. Certainly not worth the price.
That's a bummer. I could see how you'd be disappointed with Perfect Keto. Given that I live in Wisconsin, there's only about 3 days a year when I'd have to worry about a package melting. 😀
Been trying to find a good Keto bar. They use soluble tapioca fiber, which many online caution using. I will have to do more research on it before trying it. Good review.
@@SeriousKeto From what I see, the debate is: is it a IMO: Isomaltooligosaccharides, more commonly called IMOs, are a starch-sourced syrup that is high in maltose. Coming from sources such as corn or potatoes, IMOs are made up of short-chain carbohydrates, which gives them a distinct slightly sweet profile. Since IMOs are a fiber that tastes sweet, they became incredibly popular for protein bars, supplement powders, and cooking ingredients, but there’s a catch: it’s not a true fiber. Recent studies have found that IMOs directly impact your blood glucose (blood sugar levels). Researchers found that subjects’ glucose rapidly increased to 125 mg/dL after consuming IMOs. At the conclusion of the study, researchers deemed IMOs to have a glycemic index of 35. To put that into perspective, table sugar has a glycemic index of 65. 1
@@SeriousKeto That was a just a copy/paste. Long story short, a "fiber" made from corn, which the FDA might not consider a true fiber, etc. They are forcing companies to change labels in the next year or two to force them to count the carbs in some of the fake fiber they are using, since it spikes your glucose, etc.
That's good info, and I had kind of wondered about that. I have a big tub of tapioca maltodextrin in my pantry that I used to use in my molecular gastronomy days. It basically allows you to turn any fat into a powder (which would be handy for some creative keto recipes, if it weren't a keto "no go").
Just recently purchased the Salted Caramel bars and the same flavored Collagen powder. Wanted to love the bar because of the excellent macros, but I didn't. I felt that the bar was bitter, perhaps it was the stevia? Hopefully I will like the collagen because that will be in my fat coffee (I have not opened that as of yet). I would like to try another flavor bar, but am somewhat reluctant...
@@SeriousKeto That would not work for me. I like to drink my fat coffee as a meal to break my IF, plus I have always just liked coffee by itself. I like bars for a dessert basically.
I use the caramel powder on my coffe and I completely stop adding more sweeteners, I also use it for making my kids fat bombs and it dissolve pretty good, hope you like it
With the prices on keto products, I can't (in good conscience) let people spend their money on bad product. I liked most of the stuff in this review, but in part 2, there are a couple of things I can't recommend.
Thanks for the reply - I found small tongs with spatula tips that I thought would be perfect for taking out your chaffles & kwinkees-do you have a P.O. box to send it to?
I'm confused. Are you offering to send me something? Out of curiosity, is it something like this: www.amazon.com/dp/B006OVZRT8/?coliid=I2K33OS40NQ1ZL&colid=KLNAJ3GVAOIC&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I LOVE the chocolate collagen in my Keto Chow but as a chocolate milk dupe, I add it to 2oz of HWC and 6oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Tasty way to get my collagen in and have a nice treat! However, I cannot stand the bars.
@@SeriousKeto Heavy whipping cream, sorry about the abbreviation, that's how I mark it for myself and I forget that not everyone is me lol! As for the bars, it's the texture and the oily coating. It was super coated in oil, I assume the MCT oil. My son even tried it and we call him Mikey from the Life commercials and he did not like them at all.
Funny, mine weren't oily at all. I wonder if they changed up their recipe? Did you have the same flavor bars as me? I can also understand the texture thing. They are not what anyone would describe as "moist". 🙂
Steve when you do another Bar review can you add IQ Bars to the list. They are awesome! And, no, I have no affiliation with them other than I like them :-)
I'm flattered. If you direct message me on my Facebook channel (link in the description), I can give you my address. I'm sure you understand why I wouldn't post it on my RU-vid channel.
Well, it's the thought that counts. Sincerely, it means the world to me that you enjoy my videos enough that you were willing to send a gift to me. As a fellow grandparent, I need help on some of this social media stuff too. 😄
I love the Perfect Keto Collagen in my coffee. I bought another brand last time because it was cheaper and really don't like the taste, going back to Perfect Keto./kathy
I'm trying hard to do collagen daily for a month to see the impact on my skin, nails, and joints. I'd like to think my skin is doing pretty good for an almost 52 year old, but my nails have always been weak and my joints took a lot of abuse from being overweight or obese for the last 25+ years.
I do it daily and I'll report my results at the end of part 2. It seems that no matter what or how I test, someone has a complaint about it, so it's not worth spilling my blood over. 🙂 Plus, I have had viewers tell me that certain ingredients or sweeteners knock them out of ketosis that have no affect on me, so my results may not be indicative of what you (or anyone else) might experience. Certainly, if I ever try a product and find that it does cause a significant spike in my daily blood sugar or drop in ketones, I'll report that.
Welcome to the chaffle club. I hope to do some innovative recipes that no one else has done before. Also, I'll be doing some very cool things with the corn dog maker (in case you haven't watched any of those videos).
@Lindy Hawthorne Wow, I sure seem to be big in Australia (lots of comments from down under). I used to have an Aussie boss. The biggest compliment he ever paid me was saying "that'll do".😄
Perfrect Keto Bars are nasty horrible. Im stuck with 3 boxes extremely expensive can't eat. The original Keto Bars a different brand are great. Can't find any way of contacting the company. No phone number and no website contact that I can get to work.
Everybody wants to see me bleed -- and no matter how I test, someone will tell me I'm doing it wrong, so I'm not going to do it. And please don't take this as me being upset at the suggestion. Here's what I can tell you, my blood glucose the morning I did these reviews was 96. The next morning it was 83. I got an error on the ketone strip the morning of the review, but the day after I was at 1.4.
@@SeriousKeto I get it, everyone's a critic - on YT especially. Keep doing what you are doing, you'll have your silver play button in a few months I'm sure.
It's funny, I think some people won't be satisfied until they see my autopsy results. 😄 The thing with blood testing is that everyone is different. There are things I eat that will kick other people out of ketosis, so my results really mean nothing. My average blood glucose this year is 91. Yeah, I'm a data geek with a spreadsheet. That includes the 3 times I intentionally went out of keto. So I think I'm doing okay for me. Anyhow, thanks for the kind words.
Thank you for your review. I got the chocolate chip cookie not a fan. The collagen powder vanilla is just ok not great. I will not be buying again. Please review built bars.
Really wish we could get these in UK, they always get great reviews and was interested to hear you say not too sweet. We can get Quest bars and I was so excited to find my local health store sold them so we tried the cookies and cream one. I couldn't eat more than a bite - they are super sweet. What shocked me was although my husband finished it he said it wouldn't get another as too sweet for him. That was from a super sweet toothed diabetic! I'm hoping Perfect Keto start shipping to UK as I'd be interested to try their products and pay the price.
@@SeriousKeto Yes there are a few UK web companies that stock it, it's one I will definitely try because I love cinnamon and I want to try it in protein waffles and fat bombs too! Cinnamon crunch cereal was my favourite thing before I found out I had Coeliac disease.
"natural flavors" in the ingredients list (for keto bars) always a bad sign. i wouldn't eat that. it starts with a natural ingredient but that is just the begining. it is then enhanced in a lab with other substances that bring out that flavor and they never tell you what those substances are and are not obligated by the FDA to list them to reveal to the public. almost all products have this in their ingredients list and it is a shame. essentially it is a mystery ingredient that manufacturers are more than happy to not tell you.
