cutest is the wrong nomenclature.......she is on a much higher level than cute.........Meg Ryan is the cutest.....phoebe is stunningly beautiful. That is subjective, but i'll bet most would agree....
Phoebe was absolutely gorgeous she just had that look that you can't explain but one look at her and she mesmerizes you...she turned out in later years to be not only a beauty on the outside but a down to earth girl with a wonderful personality.
@@whatevergoesforme5129 - That's what makes her beautiful. (You're going to quibble over "east" Asian or "southeast" Asian? You're going to quibble over Indonesian or Filipino? Give me a break. Pshaw.)
@@rubiks6 Of course, I will quibble about your lack of geographical knowledge. But hey, if you want to justify being a moron, then that's you. I guess North American is similar as South American to you. Give me a break, idiot!
She was my only female idol in my teens. She set the right standard of external beauty but I didn't know until recent years how much more internal beauty & grace she possesses whole time.
Betsy Russell is the only woman that could take down Phoebe in a movie, she did that in Private School. Betsy and Phoebe were neck and neck as the hottest of the 80's. Phoebe had the swimming pool scene, Betsy had the horseback riding scene.
I watched this live back in the day. Back when the idea that watching 4 hours of TV everyday was going to melt our brains. Today we are married to a much smaller device and watch it much more than 4 hours a day. Phoebe has always been a stunning beauty.
It was hard back in the day to find a VHS rental copy of Fast Times at Ridgement High where the tape wasn't all messed up during her topless scene because so many guy's would watch it repeatedly. It was a great scene but the whole movie is great and holds up really well. Sean Penn's first role and he kills it! Phoebe's great...Jennifer Jason Leigh is great...so many quotable lines. Funny and moving too. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it in a while.
Vincent Cuttolo You mean he has a social conscience? Yes, odd isn’t it? Especially when you have a serial bankrupt crass vulgarian former ‘reality’ TV presenter as president issuing Twitter farts every few minutes. But by all means criticise the man who campaigns for humanity. Moronmuch?
Yes he did, but he's a pretty cool guy himself. They are still married, so he knew she was the one. Why is it always the guy who's lucky, just because the girl is pretty? That's American culture.
@Fran Ra maybe its because the guy is 15 years older, and that is kind of unusual that a female sex symbol marries an older man just for love and not security.
@Fran Ra Well, she was actually born rich but Kevin Kline did say she is a sensible girl just like him. He was at first afraid that aside from finding him a lot older, they wouldn't have anything in common. He was pleasantly surprised that they both had a lot to talk about and the rest is history.
Man, I can't tell you how many times as a 16 year old in 1984 I fantasized about Phoebe Cates. It was such a disappointment when she married Kevin Kline. I can't think of anyone coming close to her looks in Hollywood since. She was an absolute stunner.
what sets her apart is her intelligence and her voice. She doesnt have that little girl persona but rather a confident strong girl. strong voice - sweet face
Without a doubt it's the sexiest (R-rated, no sex) scene in cinema history. It's hard to describe just how it worked, without being graphic, so just watch it if you haven't seen it. Those kids talking about her in Stranger Things 3 was super legit. I was 12 when the movie came out, and that's all we were talking about. Well, also how "totally awesome" Spicoli was
Stunning she is the gorgeous her face is almost perfect ....she's 2nd or third best looking women I've ever seen behind Rhonda Veinner and Debbie Hart.😀😉
She is replete. Still stunning and very east coast bright. She reads the New Yorker and gets it, and also had the values to put family ahead of career. I heart her.
THANK YOU! I'm a big Phoebe Cates fan, but up to now the only Letterman appearances of hers that have been on RU-vid were from the mid-'90s when she was near the end of her movie career. I knew she was on a few times around '83 and '84 when she was at her peak, but they've never been available here until now. I really appreciate it.
@@francisqchristopher8684 didn't she say she was 17 when she did the Blue Lagoon-like scene? Not Fast Times one, to which I believe you may be referring.
We are so blessed by the existence of RU-vid! I feel so grateful... How else would I have been able to watch, in 2020, a 1984 Phoebe Cates' interview? Being able to watch an interview with Phoebe Cates at her career peak, just by typing this three words: "Phoebe Cates Interview".
Absolutely beautiful! A couple of years later Jennifer Connelly and Elizabeth Shue came along as other late-teen/early 20s cuties. I never realized Phoebe was a couple of years older than me, I guess it was because she always played high school roles.
THIS is the best one you've posted so far!!! I hadn't seen this one and was surprised she was happy to talk about Fast Times. On the Gremlins DVD commentary she sounds like she doesn't want to be there at all.
