In this video you'll discover the nootropics benefits of Pine Bark Extract. Including why we use Pine Bark Extract as a nootropic, recommended dosage, side effects, clinical research, and the best type of Pine Bark Extract to buy. This is an update to the video I made on Pine Bark Extract several years ago.
Pine Bark Extract (Pycnogenol) is a standardized extract of French maritime pine bark. This pine tree (Pinus pinaster) is native to the Mediterranean region.
Pycnogenol is a patented form of Pine Bark Extract which is standardized to 65-75% proanthocyanidins.
Pine Bark Extract helps:
• Cognitive functions including memory, mood and ADHD
• Antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties
• Cardiovascular benefits preventing heart disease and stroke
• Diabetes by controlling blood glucose levels
• Eye health by improving blood flow to tiny capillaries in the eye
• Improved sperm quality and erectile dysfunction
• Menstrual disorders including PMS symptoms
• Joint health including osteoarthritis, mobility, flexibility and chronic pain
• Oral health including gum bleeding and plaque formation
• Respiratory functions like taming asthma and hay fever
• Sports nutrition for energy, recovery, cramps, and better blood flow
• Overall blood vessel health
Most Neurohackers using Pine Bark Extract report having more energy, thinking is clearer and faster, more productive, and more. See the section int he video called "How does Pine Bark Extract feel?" for more Pine Bark Extract practical benefits.
Male neurohackers nearly always report more frequent and harder erections. Especially when stacking with L-Arginine. And a higher sperm count. Which is backed by science.
This in-depth updated Pine Bark Extract review covers:

I was about to ask whether u were talking about Pycnogenol or s.th. different. My experience: 1) definitively enhances microcirculation/bloodflow of capillary system. 2) It is extremely strong, thus should not(!) take it every single day! 3) The morning after intake or maybe a morning later you get morning "fun" (won't go into detail) 4) I def. feel a "short-term-suppression of inflammation in my system" 5) I recommend taking it after eating bad oxidative foods like fried food/fast food and bad fats/cholesterole: its anti-oxidative effect is used best right after eating these! It probably can compensate the oxidative/bad effects of it for a while? 6) did not feel that much of better blood flow to brain ... but(!) "in general" my blood flow was better + clogged sinus on right side of nose opened up for 4 hours after pycnogenol. "In general" I felt more stable and well on Pycnogenol, less headache, etc. 7) I recommend 50 mg to 100 mg for younger than 55 years. Do not take daily or above 200 mg. Start low (50 mg) and go slow. You probably do not need more than 50 mg. 8) It is expensive but very powerful = you're not paying for "placebo" . You can feel it! 9) avoid getting used to it/adaption by taking it daily. 10) Not sure but I think I read you should avoid longer sun-exposure with pycnogenol? Thx for awesome Video once again David! Please keep up the good work.

Either Pycnogenol (65 - 75% proanthocyanidins) or Maritime Pine Bark Extract (95% proanthocyanidins). Either will provide the benefits you mentioned.

Great video as always! I have been taking Pycnogenol for quite a number of years,but as my supplement stack started to grow I stopped taking it for a while. I recently had three months on it and I’m now wondering if it’s been that that has helped me focus on reading (read three books this year,which for me is an achievement)! I was taking it for circulation,skin ,menopause symptoms and allergies. I’m waiting on a ADHD assessment and have been really struggling,I’m going to start taking again and monitor really closely! 👍

Never really noticed any nootropic benefits but it was really good for better pumps in the gym. I think this is a type of supplement that may be more case dependent in terms of how useful it can be cognitively.

I´m comming back to the xample with the kids. The kids at first had higher Dopamin and Norepinephrine levels in the urin, right? So then after taking Pycnogenol what happened with the Dopamine & Norepinephrine in the brain did it rise or fall? And in the urine?
@NootropicsExpert
@NootropicsExpert 2 месяца назад
Good question but is not possible to say as far as I can tell. The implication is the kids were excreting more dopamine and norepinephrine in their urine which presumably reduced it in areas of their brain as well. Which helped with ADHD symptoms.

When you say accumulation of damaged proteins you mean its effect is somewhat similar like with serrapeptase where it scavenges dead proteins?
@NootropicsExpert
@NootropicsExpert 2 месяца назад
Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme which means it breaks down proteins into individual amino acids. That is a very different mechanism of action compared to Pine Bark Extract.

I remember the original vid on this. What are the main differences between this and a high quality Grape seed extract? I spent many hours online trying to figure out the active components of both to compare them with zero results. Can you explain the different components in each as there is a huge price difference? Add here and need t find a good way to increase the blood flow to my frontal lobs as it is well known that glucose is reduced by 14% there. Many thanks

Oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) are also found in high concentrations in apple, pear, grapes, chocolate, wine and tea. But all of the research I found for OPCs was specifically for this type of pine bark. I'd use Pine Bark Extract for its nootropic benefits knowing that I would be getting those benefits. But Grape Seed Extract is a complete unknown. At least for me.

Within about a week my heart hurt/ached. I called martin clinic and they didn’t know why, just said stop taking it. Anyone know why it would do that?
