A great sampling of how physical playoff basketball used to be. As Isiah Thomas has said on TNT’s Open Court segments, everyone used to play like Detroit, it’s just that the Pistons were the only ones remembered for it. Thanks, Ryan!
Detroit had their own spin on dirty play, but it existed long before them (at least by the 50's and probably during the 40's). These particular Pistons learned it from other teams like the 76ers, Celtics, Lakers, and Bucks. Detroit was the victim of really unfortunate timing. Jordan's ascension. Chicago's many complaints to the league. Updates to the Flagrant Foul rule. The transition from CBS to NBC in '90 to go along with the, overall, media explosion that began in the late 80's. On top of all this, people are too lazy to research, biased, and have short memories. Talking heads in the media have continued to perpetuate the bullshit narrative about those Pistons teams for the last 20 years, mainly because of the direct connection to Jordan.
@@bubufubu Big Facts. Bad Boys were epic. Isiah has more heart than anyone in the league today.Bill Laimbeer and Isiah were the foundation for what hustle and heart can do. Absolutelyrobbed of the title in 88 with the whole league againts them. Three peat at least.
All these fouls would be 7 minute stoppages with 25 replays, with overreaction from the crowd, with overanalysis by the refs, with other teammates acting like fake tough guys from 2010 to now.
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American, too. Bob Weiss would have REALLY appreciated 4 quarters for a Dollar, when riding Alaska Airlines! (You probably have to have grown up on the West Coast to understand this reference: Look up Alaska Airlines commercials)
@@eugeniollamera771 It will not be a big deal if they did it to the Celtics . MJ showed them some respect when he congratulated them after they beat him three times in the playoffs and when the bulls finally beat their sorry ass they left the court with a few seconds remaining . What a sore loosers.
@@pinoy44 But the Bulls also trashed them in the media before game 4 and i love Jordan to me he's the goat but that is not how you speak about a team who beat your butt 3 year's in a row and essentially made you what you would become. So can't just blame the Pistons all the time.
@@pinoy44 And by the way you proved my original point the Pistons congratulated Boston after every lost and they still got the shaft after 3 years of chasing the Celtics.
