The dollar tree sells little foam knee pads for kneeling, they’re in the garden section usually. ❤️

Look into the buttermilk/moss blender trick. I collected moss from different parts of our property, blended it in a blender with the buttermilk and used it as a pour in addition to moss transplanting. It has been exactly two years and all of our stone work has moss borders now. 🥰

The moss path looks SO cute! I'm obsessed! (My kids do the same things with naps... which started when my son was 2 years old and my daughter was about 4 months. So that was when we stopped napping... at 2 years old and 4 months. So even now that they are 3 years old and 5 years old, if they fall asleep in the car after 11 am... no one sleeps that night.)

I literally cried laughing at the end when you spoke about digging it back up for the septic tank. 😆 🤣

You can also take a spade and cut the plant in smaller portions to get smaller pieces. I did a creeping thyme lawn that way and cutting it in smaller pieces eventually makes it grow more vigorously then planting the big pot in one place. At first it looks ridiculous, but after a year it filled in really well. My thyme is in full sun. You’re making me want to try iris moss in an other part of my yard, it’s so cute.

With the septic, my husband and I had septic people come out, they found the septic, found the cleanout opening, we had a door put on it, then all we had to do is open the septic door, (you can set a planter on the lid, when not having it cleaned.) No more digging up a whole area, just open a door. Also it is perfectly safe, the door is metal and very very heavy. (almost like a sewer manhole cover.)... I'd look into that before digging up my patio.... or you can have a sewer clean out put on on your lateral sewage line.

I just love watching your videos. They seriously soothe my soul sometimes.

I LOOOVE Irish moss. My friends put this in their back yard instead of grass so they wouldn’t have to mow. It was so squishy and pretty and their chickens loved it too.

One thing to try. Make a slurry of the whole plant mash up the roots and plant and pour it into the lil cracks. It just grows like magic. Moss type growth is so slow. Like you said keep it watered and every part of it will grow. Love your passion for all your endeavours

My mom ripped up our entire front yard and planted this (we also live in western Wa) and it is the softest thing ever to walk on. Single mom who refused to mow and this worked wonders.

I much prefer this content over makeup videos.Your home is truly lovely. I tried to grow Irish moss between my pavers but it’s difficult in Southern California.

My Nana had a nursery in North Texas where she grew Irish Moss every winter into early spring. Along with every Herb & Perennial known to man. Especially anything obscure and rare. People would come from all over America. It was amazing.. she was an herbal cult culture phenomenon for over 45 years.. As we are in Texas the heat quickly becomes too much. But the look & feel of the moss... oh, *gawd* it is nostalgic for me. She has been dead since 12.3.20... but everything she taught me about the Nursery Life resides within me. Seeing you & your family attempt a simple garden brings back memories of her. She knew my heart & drive. She *always* said to me "My Darling Jacs, all I want for you is a small family & a small farm. @Sweet Life of Zach & Kristi, I am a tad bit late to this party and perhaps you've realized this by now but I hoped it would be helpful to address the "root bound" situation. Although those roots are mashed together they can still be utilized. I have found that shaving off a teenie weenie bit, like 1/8th inch ( 3mm ), off each of the 4 sides and the bottom is sufficient to remove the "bound" roots but still retain most of the roots mass. This method will prevent any stunting and allow it to grow and establish much faster. Great video and walk way, looks great. But I'm afraid I have to tell Zach about the wrench situation lol Oh and PS: mashing the soil with that wrench, perhaps, compacts it further slowing down rooting and establishment. Just a thought :)

You can fertilize Irish Moss once in the spring time so now is good but make sure not to overfertilize. Your path looks beautiful! 💕

The house I grew up in had a stone patio exactly like this! But we didn’t have the moss except maybe by accident 😂 I loved it though! seems like way less upkeep to do this instead of redoing the gravel all the time like we did lol!

Irish moss is so beautiful and has so many purposes. Even as pills against a sore throat. Very good choice to integrate it into your garden. A garden is a wonderful place. Maybe the best place to recover from personal stress and to regain strength for other things in life. You are very lucky to own one and to be healthy to care for it and make it beautiful. I had such a sweet little pond with my favorite plants around it. And now I can hardly walk any more due to a very painful neuropathy in my legs. It is becoming a wilderness. I love animals and plants, so I would be very glad to see more content like this.

Kristi this might help you if you want .. Try a night routine with the kiddo Read, brush teeth, pjs.. only at night. This will show him that it’s the night time and it’s when we sleep the longest. I know it sounds crazy but my son was an excellent sleeper but at one point he was confused and got up an random times. Then the doctor told me to only read to him and do all of those things specifically at night and they usually get the hint after a little while. I hope this helps ! I honestly didn’t think it would but it did lol

I must but some of that. Beautiful. Right now aim making due and found moss on my plant shed roof! I raked it off, placed it around the rocks and moistened it. It’s staying! It is a mostly shady area.

While watching this video, I found myself thinking back to when you and Zack first started gardening in pots, learning as much as possible. Then you started talking about buying land.... and the rest is history. You guys did it!! We bought our land 28 years ago, and have been gardening ever since. We now look forward to retirement in a few years where we will spend even more time in our garden. Our grandchildren spend around a month with us every summer..... and they talk about visiting us like it's some magical place. Maybe it is....😉💖
