I started with 90 kg in August 2017. I started on two meals in November 2017/ IF: and lost 14 kg in four months. Last month on one meal a day: lost 1 kg. But I started to swimming every day since 5 months, so may be slowing of the weight loss is gaining on muscle
I experienced a plateau. I realized my cortisol (stress) levels were spiked. I relaxed more, practiced mindfulness, increased my acv + water intake and did a 48 hr fast. That fixed it. Dropped 2 pounds this week.

Im working at a cafe where sells all kinds of desserts (gelato, smoothie, cakes, cookies even bubble tea) I did 72h fasting while I worked double shift. Keto makes it possible this journey. No hunger or fatigue while fasting and at the end of fasting, I felt rejuvenated!!
Thanks Dr. Berg. I follow a strict Keto Diet and I LOVE what I eat. I do a 72 hour fast the first week of the month and a 30 hour fast every Thursday and celebrate on Friday. I'm not longer taking ANY diabetic meds after years of insulin injections, metformin, and drugs.

I’m at the point when I’m doing both keto and intermittent fasting but I still am in plateau after losing 50 lbs in two years. It’s discouraging but I’m hoping that my body is still repairing itself... so I keep eating healthy.

@@farheenkayani6654 if you're increasing stress and not sleeping, then you are stopping a lot of fat burning (since 90% of fat burning happens when you're in deep sleep). If this happened before the plateau, then that's probably the main reason you're not losing more weight. Check out Dr Berg's body type videos. You seem to have an adrenal gland problem. If this happened after the plateau, then try fasting for longer periods of time from OMAD to 48 hours intervals, or alternatively, reduce your fat intake a bit and see. Since you're already fat adapted through keto and IF, you can focus on reducing the fat you eat so that your body will use the stored fat instead of exogenous fuels. Make sure to reduce enough fat to lose some weight but not be hungry. If you're hungry, your body will turn into starvation mode and starts storing fat. If you're keeping track of your carbs and calories intake per day precisely, then get your carbs close to zero (aside from green veggies) as much as possible as well as reduce your calories by a little bit at a time (so you won't go hungry). Calories only matters after you're fat adapted. So if your keto or IF isn't perfect yet, focus on that first before counting calories since not being fat adapted and reducing calories can cause muscle atrophy.
This just reiterated the “rules” for IF and keto. I know the rules, and am following them. To me, a “plateau” is when you are still following the rules but results have stopped. I have been consistently in ketosis, at a 25% calorie deficit, and doing 17/7 IF. So far I’ve lost 38 pounds. But not an ounce in the last month. THAT is a plateau. That is what I was hoping to learn about. The OMAD option does not seem to apply. Insulin resistance should not be the issue, since I’ve lost nearly 40 lbs through this process already.
Brett: You just described me. 40lbs off (took forever) and stalled at my current weight for last 3 months. All the other benefits of being a ketovore is still in play, so I make minor tweaks. After watching this, I'm going to stop ADDING healthy fats and see if that will help me break thru this stall. Good luck, Brett.
Have you checked Dr Berg's videos on electrolytes, vitamin D3&k2, apple cider vinegar /lemon juice, ect? He has videos showing how these help with loosing weight. Also have you checked his videos on a minimum fasting period of 18 hrs a day and getting even better results on fasting more than 21 hrs daily?
Exactly - THIS is a plateau. Following all the rules and no results on the scale after having had them. I’m guessing that mixing up the length of fasts (adding in some longer ones) may help. Dr. Jason Fung’s work was super helpful for me about the body’s set weight and how a longer fast can help lower the body’s set weight.
Having a bit of a chuckle listening to all the men telling woman why they’ve stalled. So much scientific reasoning. When I lost weight I went to buy new clothes and where did I go? To the large section because my brain still thought I was big! I think the same applies to stalling! I was eating for the size I used to be , not for the smaller person I had become. Don’t feed the kilos that you’ve already lost.
Have you checked all Dr Berg's videos on plateauing? I would use a nutrients app like cronometer to ensure of no deficiencies and that there's not too much fat. Also has stress increased right before you stopped loosing weight?

Hi guys just FYI for all, I went from 260 to 187 now (in a year and a half, no loose skin and all that) , I’m 6.2” went from fat to literally ripped 6 packs and all with IF 3-4x gym a week for 45m to 1h. I eat one meal a day for about 1hour (from 5-6pm fits my schedule best) I get all my calories in that one setting it depends how much I need for cutting or maintenance, I also do fasted cardio just faster walking for 15min and my usual weight lifting rutine or full body work outs......taking my multi vitamins, creatine......oh one more thing I always start my day with 32oz of Water mixed with one TBS apple cider and lemon juice......I feel like a machine after that!! It’s possibe!Good luck!!

My diet was/is 2000-2500 calories per meal, when I hit the wall like you now i was doing cardio for like day, two or three, my cardio was like thousand steps on stair master or 1h on a thread meal or hit cardio for like 10-15m ur body will eventually let it go.
Hi Dr. Berg! When I first lost the weight on keto diet, I did not do intermittent fasting. It took me 5 months to lose 25lbs. That is with exercising 3x/week and eating 3 meals with a snack if I needed it. BUT I lost the last 12lbs very quickly once I incorporated the intermittent fasting, approximately 2 months. Thank you for all of your videos that you share! I have learned so much! The best result is being pain free and eliminating brain fog!

This man knows what he's talking about. If you are wanting "cheat days", then you really need to question your commitment. Stop trying to do things by half measures. Ask yourself also, why you want sweeteners? Leave sweetness behind until you achieve your goal. Sweetness cravings make it more difficult to stay on a keto diet. No-one is forcing you to do this! You will get the results you deserve, from this tried and tested method.
I was doing IF without even knowing it due to my work schedule in the beginning of the year. I knowingly started IF and eating a lot healthier in Aug/Sept and have lost just over 30lbs. Total weight loss since the beginning of the year has been 39lbs. I have plateaued and I’m eating the exact same stuff.
I do I. F. only, omad and have lost over 35 pounds in nine weeks, I disagree with you saying you need to do keto with I.F. or it doesn’t work, I find the ketogenic diet too restrictive and if you don’t enjoy something then you won’t stick with it, you can always adjust your calorie intake if you reach a plateau in your weight loss.

Its just about calories - its about how certain calories effect hormones - insulin. You can total enjoy every single type of food, merely with an altered recipe and make it very pleasurable. I am dealing with quite a few people who do not have a great metabolism who also have very resistant insulin, so to be flexible is just going to stop progress. This video is for people who plateau - so I would assume those who watched it need "extra help"

I have done the keto diet only (20 gr of carbs) without the IF and lost 34 pounds.. I also aloud myself to have 2 to 3 pieces of dark chocolate (2.5 grams of carbs a piece) and I still lost weight..

I do IF without keto and it works perfectly. Lost 13 pounds in 5 weeks. You don't have to eat keto when doing OMAD. One Meal A Day.... just wanted to educate everyone.

Everyone body functioning is not the same, I have been down to one meal a day, my plate only had lettuce tomatoes and a pinch of lemon juice and I was stuck at the same weight so I fasted for about 40 hours and just like that I lost 1 and half pounds, I guess once your body reaches a limit it refuses to go beyond, maybe I dont know lol; but the struggle is real.
Lost 37 pounds this year doing 16/8 for like 4 months and I eat the same as I did before, but less snacking in between meals. I also started working a very physical job so that helped.
I surprisingly lost about 30lbs in about 3 months ANDDDDD I did it all at the beginning of the holiday seasons late last year. I did this being on Keto and IF with PCOS and hypothyroid. I plateaued and I still need to lose 25lbs. Thanks for the video! I am hopeful and optimistic!

That is all that matters....if you FEEL good don't worry about the weight...the body will go to it's 'natural' weight...when you try to go beyond that you have problems.. all bodies are not meant to be what fashion dictates....look at Marilyn Monroe....she had a great body...and she was not 'skinny' ...know you are getting healthy...and focus there.
Burger, fries and chicken bites broke my plateau. Can't explain it, but I wasn't moving. Ate a big processed meal and started back losing. I'm keto and OMAD.
yep. when ppl plateau they wanna eat less or fast for days, but ive seen many people (myself included), break that plateau by having a little “cheat day”!

I lost 26 pounds in 5 weeks on keto and if 18/6 haven't plateaued yet but am watching this cause I know it'll happen at some point need to lose 25 more and I would have achieved what I thought was impossible, indeed dr berg has changed lives I'm one of them.
Thank u Dr Berg for teaching people to be healthy. Ive been on keto since Oct 7th this year. And lost 4kg in 2 wks. Fasting is pretty easy for me bec i do practice it even before. Ive been on my feet working and cleaning since 7am today and did not notice the time that its already 10:30pm. I did not feel any tiredness and body ache. Before, I would even have fever when I get to physically exhaust myself from working. but now, i feel good. i jst obligated myself to rest eventhough i still feel that i can still keep in going if i persist. i am on 23:1 IF, 0 carbs for a week now. i have plateaued tho but ive lost 1 dress size and i feel lighter over all. my skin looks healthy and i do feel healthy. When I first go to buy my food in the supermarket and read labels ~ i just realized that 90% of the food items in the aisles have sugar. God bless u Dr. Berg. May more people take better care of themselves by getting rid of our addiction to sugar.
Hey Doc. I did OMAD and lost 70 pounds with no keto and am in the best shape of my life. Ate whatever I wanted to in that 1 hour window. No keto is needed when you do OMAD OMAD to me is the absolute most simple and easy way to shed all the weight. Eat and be done with it. Saves me time, money, and I get so much done because I dont worry about eating and keto and all that jazz. I just eat whatever the heck I want. Along the journey there are always plateaus.... 1 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks but I just stayed the course and eventually that plateau breaks.... oh... and I did not count calories or macros.... I simply ate until I was satiated. Now im helping people from all over the globe be their best selves with OMAD!

Before I start watching all your videos , I was really struggling to lose weight, after alot of research from each of your video,how to Lose weight in good ways, I started with keto first and i was really interested in intermittent fasting so I started fasting 23 hrs of fasting and 1hr of eating , and on weekends I do 48hrs so if I have something to eat on Thursday I'm not having anything on Friday, till Saturday Before 6pm I will have something and not have anything till Monday 6pm , people around me things its stupid idea but i feel much much better about myself I see alot of changes and lost 15kg so massive thank you to you doctor, you changed my life totally 😀😊

I have stalled. I started at 365lbs, and the last 2 weeks I've been fluctuating between 330-332lbs. I've been following omad and definitely not over eating. Almost no carbs, borderline carnivore. I have noticed my ketone levels have been low, .7-1.0 and my fbg has been in 94-97 mg. Which seems high, I assume I'm still pretty insulin resistant.

Also, no colon cleansers are needed on a diet that causes the body to ketose, in fact it can be detrimental. I made that mistake and almost killed my kidneys it hurt so bad so I quit colon cleansers while keto dieting and I felt so much better. Ketosis causes the body to naturally cleanse itself including the colon. The body works hard enough while ketosing to shed weight on its own. There are veggies allowed in the first week about 1 cup per day they are practically zero carb. They are listed in Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution book. He also wrote a book giving carb count content of many foods to help you stay on track. I've read both of these books. Test your urine an hour or two hours after trying new packaged foods or snacks to test their carb content honesty. Or if you prefer the keto blood testers you can use that instead or use both. Some people say blood testing is more accurate and quicker. I prefer the urine strips. I analize my ketosis the day after trying new packaged products also. Eating practically zero carbs for a few days should get your body into deep ketosis. Sorry to repeat myself but I hope this info helps people loose weight fast like my dad did. Thank you! I've been plateaued for at least 3 mos! I've discovered more fat filled side dishes and was eating them with my fatty main course. Obviously, I was more than likely, getting too much fat, when I thought I was doing right! I was beginning to get discouraged, but not willing to give up!!! I greatly appreciate this video! I think Dr Berg hits the nail on the head with "First do your research and get to know what you're dealing with" and also the goal is to have "Healthy insulin". Watching his videos and other videos, reading the comments and discovering other peoples journeys and solutions is all part of the research into doing what works for you. Personally I have been plateauing on around 225 for a month now and I'm in month 4 of OMAD, so after watching this I think I'll reduce the fat amount of my daily meat and see where that goes
In my experience, intermitten fasting itself work best for me even without keto. In 3 weeks i lost 6kg and not yet gaining back. I do eat cauliflowers evening and night. For maintainenance sometimes i do keto, sometime i do buffet eat all i want and the next day im back to cauliflowers. I think everybody is different but intermitten fasting itself is the ultimate secret of weight loss. And one thing I dont get muscular but muscle is well preserved
Seems like eliminating caffeine, taking a raw B-complex, and sleeping 8+ hours a night would decrease stress, therefore lowering stress hormones, and decreasing belly fat
For those who are stuck on a plateau and have exercise / strength training in their schedule, check whether your body measurements have changed. Weight is an important barometer but not the only one. Sometimes, body fat burn and muscle gain can happen at the same time.

My wife and I were both doing two meals and keto. I lost quickly and have to add a third meal a couple days a week to maintain my weight. My wife lost 5lbs and plateaued. She hasn't lost in 6 weeks even going to omad and adding longer fast. It's not fair for her. I'm trying to cook Mediterranean keto for her this week to see if that helps me.

Hi Dr. Berg. I have been on Keto for 19 weeks and by week 17 I had lost 25 lbs. I have stayed on keto pretty well but on April 28th we had a party for my daughter and I did consume some carbs. However, I was right back on keto the next day. It took 3 days to go back. But now I have gained 7 lbs and I don't know why. I have not changed much and I am incorporating IF as well but I seem to have not only stopped losing but gained quite a bit. I watch every video I can find of you giving this advise but nothing I try has worked. A little history....I got the gastric bypass in 2005. I had 200 lbs to loose. I lost 110 and got pregnant 10 months after the surgery. I then lost 30 more lbs after having the baby so 140 in all. Then my weight started to creep up and landed at the same place I was before I got pregnant. After some fluctuating I am now at 232. A couple of weeks ago I was at 225. I try to exercise once or twice a week. Can you please help me?
I am very discouraged. Lost 50 lbs in about 6 months and then plateaued. That was January and I haven’t lost any since but I still eat right and do IF. I Need to lose at least 20 more.

Keto and supplements are healing my pcos. My 1st test with my endo testosterone was 47, 2 weeks ago was 21! Been stuck for a few weeks at the same weight but this tells me every thing is still working.
Dr.Berg I'm doing OMAD with keto now. Im going through plateau with even with less food and even with cardio every morning and strength training on certain days. I don't snack too. I take ACV, omega3 fish oil, vitamin D3, salt my water. I've stopped talking the electrolyte powder as it also contains glucose anhydrous and I'm not sure if it raises my insulin. I'm almost 8 months keto and while I lost 40 lbs the first 4 months, I've been stuck since then. I was doing 16:8 IF for a while, so I recently I decided to try OMAD IF to see if that would get me past this plateau. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped. It does seem to be helping my foot heal, which has been a concern, but I was loosing weight when it first happened. I've been checking for things that could be breaking my fast, and after watching one of Thomas DeLauer's videos, I realized the BCAA's in my Bang energy drink I have during my lunch break at work can do that. I also stopped having my morning Zipfizz and the Spry gum that's sweetened with xylitol. So far though, nothing seems to be helping. I'm wondering if I should trying reseting my keto back to 3 meals a day, but I'm not sure. I keep racking my brain for things to try. Although, between this and my school studies, my stress could be high and effecting things as well. My job is active, but I haven't yet incorporated additional exercising into my routine. Partially because I lack the time and secondly, because I was trying to focus primarily on weight loss rather than muscle gain, which for me is generally very easy to do. The weight that I've lost so far, while it came off pretty much everywhere, has my legs and arms very lean but I still have plenty left in my torso (belly and chest) to lose. Could definitely use some help. Sorry for the rant.
Jason Simpson I hear you. Lost 21.5 pounds in 24 days doing keto OMAD, but stuck thereafter desire doing a 48hr fast. No snacking, no coffee or bullet proof anything, fats 75%, protein 15-20, carbs from dairy and veg the rest. Only drinks would be ACV, Himalayan salt and some freshly made stinging nettle tea. Frustrating, although I'm talking days not months like you're doing. It's frustrating. Exercise is there, and rest. Started some HIIT, will see if that's effective. Perhaps the same for you?
I've been platued since end of June 2019, I was losing the weight quite well initially (first 4 weeks). It has been very slow since. Trying a 20 hr fast today to see what happens. Doing Keto since 1st June 2019. Started at 102kg now platueing around 92-93kg. PS: I heard its not good to fast everyday, the only fasts I have been doing is 14:8. Suggestions appreciated.
I had the same exact scenario. Ironically I had the same starting weight and plateaued at 93kg. I decided to look at my diet properly and started weighing my food. That is when I realised I was finding hidden carbs and not tracking properly. Now I portion out my meals by weight and intermittent fast (6 hour eating window & 18 hour fast) everyday. Within 2 weeks I lost 4kg. I might try reducing to 1 meal a day just to experiment. Hope this helps 🙂

I started the KETO diet in Oct. From the beginning I took to IF no problem............lost no weight. So started eating two meals a day, using calculator and app, and after 6 weeks started losing up to 2lbs a week. Now it seems to have fallen to 1lb a week, and since Oct I have lost 9.5 lbs. I am doing everything correctly, keeping my percentages within limits most of the time, no snacking, but dont know why I am now slowing down. I have coffee with cream in the morning, a healthy lunch of half of what I had the evening before, and then an evening meal, lots of water. I weigh everything, plan every meal, keep to as near to 1400 cal daily. The other thing Ive noticed is that after a meal or coffee, I seem to get a "hot flash", and never had that before. I totally believe in the diet, just wish I lost weight at 2 lbs a week again
I am comfortable on one eating window of two hours and works so well with all your super help where you quantify the amount of food to eat. It has been so worth all the effort that it took to get where I am now. It is a super way of life where you are not controlled by food. I too can eat the exactly the same meal ever single day with slight variations. It is so simple and works so so well.
To be honest: I was like that until recently, with the temperature turning -2 where I live, and my appetite has doubled. I'm literally shivering from cold each evening in my kitchen; though the radiators are on, trying to control my appetite with hot drinks , yet the weather plays a role in making you feel hungry or not.

No disrespect to dr. Berg I have been doing intermittent fasting since June 2019 to date I've lost 70 lbs have not attempted keto yet... I am within 10 lb of my ultimate weight goal and am 60 year old woman... I will consider keto within the next three months but so far intermittent fasting has been the bomb in my life!! Don't stay permanently in a calorie deficit. Fat loss is rarely linear. Sometimes you have to take one step back to take two steps forward. I recommend a day or two slightly over maintenance if you reach a plateau because of continued strict dieting. But make sure your plateau is not because you're eating more than you realise. Also ensure you're getting enough protein. You certainly don't want a plateau because your muscle is disappearing.
I was 16.2 stone when starting keto and lost 11 pounds in a week and a half (water weight) since then I’ve been completely stuck. I go to the gym every day except Sunday and I usually just eat one meal a day since I don’t feel hungry on keto. Is this just a hump? It’s hard to stay motivated when you don’t see results (I’m just over 2 weeks into keto)

i fasted for 4 days and gained 2 lbs lol right now im eating once every 2-4 days and not loseing weight anymore. not sure if its my set point or what but i cant get below 140

Yeah, I’m plateaued. Began Ketogenic Diet with Intermittent Fasting August 29’ 2021, Sunday. Weight began 195lbs. Today I’m 180lbs. Been 180 since September 29th, Wednesday. Today is November 2, 2021, Tuesday and I’m still 180lbs. 🤷♀️
Hello everyone, I’m 9 days on keto eating, I’m hungry pretty much all the time, i eat a lot, some people saying that you cannot overeat fat or eat enough fat, after 9 days my appetite is still there, i dont understated. My calorie intake varies , I suppose to eat 1600 to loose weight. I eat sometimes more that 2000 . My carbohydrates not more that 20-25 g a day. Fat goes sometimes up to 150-170 , protein 100 -120. What I don’t understand is why I’m still hungry, I didn’t find any keto video with people that had similar problem. My weight stays the same, 1 cm lost of my waist. The problem really is not that I don’t loose weight. The problem is why I feel so hungry. I eat 2 meals , first at 11-12 am and next 3-4 pm. And than i dont eat but i fell hungry for the most of the time even if i had already maybe more that 2000 calories. Any suggestions?
You might want to consider checking out other stuff, which may trigger insulin and affect your ketosis, like too much coffee or stress. If it's just an insulin resistance issue, I suggest you to try fasting once for a longer period like 72 hours, assuming of course your health status allows it. This would probably help to reset your metabolism and deplete all your glycogen stores, if any. And last, but not the least, getting some muscles may help to boost your basal metabolic calorie consumption, so consider strength training. Dr. Berg is also a big fan of HIIT, which I strongly recommend as well. Please be aware that just the water any carbs you had would retain must result in weight loss on the scale when you switch to keto. If you don't lose at least this water weight, there most certainly is something wrong with your diet or metabolism.
Im on keto for 3 months now . I plateaued after 2 weeks. Tried all you say . Now it s been twi weeks since I am on one meal IF . And nothing changed . Same plateau :( I'm very frustrated .

Am doing IF for over a month now and am not losing EVEN.A.SINGLE.POUND. Am eating whole healthy foods. Started with 16:8 then gradually switched to OMAD. Do workouts during weekends. Am keeping hydrated. Making sure I do have enough calorie intake. Am really discouraged. 😢
I will do 16:8 2 meals per day, moderate protein and 20g carbs this week. I have been slack for the past 2 months i gained 4 pounds. Will get back next week.

Yeah I love you Dr but keto works fine alone for me. I seem to have stalled with the fasting and it's only been a month. I'm sti confused what I did wrong. I lost 19.2lbs 1st month, i should be on my way this month but i keep going back and forth between a few numbers and its driving me nuts.

I am so glad I watched this I stopped at 250 so now the fasting starts I can fast for 18 to 22 hours. Now I will go farther now . Got to push though this

I do one meal a day on my days off from work. And drink Gatorade Zero. During the work week I skip breakfast. So I'm constantly fasting on a high fat 20 grams of carbs diet. I don't check calories. Have hit a wall after water weight. And that's when I did I hard fast only eating dinner on days off. 20 pounds so far a little under 2 months

I’m not losing I’m being strict with carbs No cravings. Doing only coffee in AM 1 cup. I’m going to try the Adkins diet. I haven’t lost in a month and a half. Bowels are good. Very frustrating. Can’t walk right now Lower back giving me fits. I’m icing. This just started. I don’t want to quit, I have been watching all your videos on reasons for failing to lose. Also going to try metformin again . Im scared of it but need to do something tired of being stuck. .
Check out something called MATADOR diet Your metabolism can adapt to a calorie deficit by slowing down...so if you diet cycle between maintaince calories and a calorie deficit in 2 week intervals you will have better results.

It has many diets including ketogenic and it has a net carb setting..👍
OMAD for months, actually did the 72 hr fast I never thought I had in me, hit the baseline last week. OMAD again adding protein in a 2 hr window, still cut 4# each night from sleep to wake. I still get up & pee during the night & often feel I need to poop over eat anything. I haven't tried the OMEOD. But, I've dropped below the baseline on the stairs down. I've had an inguinal hernia bothering me for years. I'm worried about Oxalate dumping now. I've always drank a bunch of fluids. But I've also always belched.
Great video with tons of information. Plateau is annoying but it will go away after a day or two, maybe free. It's very frustrating but adding leafy greens and a steak will solve the problem.
