[25] Are we the baddies? Time to switch it up a bit, as we are now playing as the creep! ▬▬▬▬▬ Twitter: / angory_tom Patreon: / angorytom Twitch: / angorytom Reddit: / yogscast Merch: store.yogscast.com/collection...
really makes me wonder if this could make for interesting multiplayer gameplay? If they flesh out the creeper structures you could have a pretty competitive game going
Yeah the AI doesn't seem to really respond to you as the creep or build up to counter you. I don't think there's any way to actually lose as the creep like this. It would be vastly more interesting if there was another player reacting to you.
Pretty sure Blizzard is abandoning Starcraft this year so the RTS scene is wide open for a new player to take over. I wouldn’t mind playing something similar to a Starcraft Mod called Zerg Hex where you have 6 players vs 1-2 ‘bad guys’ who control the mid. Some multiplayer team vs ‘the creep’ sounds radical. Not sure how well the franchise is doing financially to support multiplayer frameworks or even some AI but I can dream.
Although possible it would be a nightmare to balance, in other games like starcraft you can have mirror matches with the same faction and vs between then. With creeper world would be always scientists vs creep, so if one side is weak, you will have no players for them and long wait times, which is a recipe to kill pvp modes. Also the creep is really underdeveloped, I mean think about how many normal units exist very how many creep one exist, the creep only works because it overwhelms with numbers but its actually weak and easily counterable if it started in an even playing field. It would be possible, but would be a waste of too many resources, a pvp with one of the players producing creep with sprayers while all his units are imune to creep would be far easier to create and balance
@@tiagocf1208 I think if you open it up to modmakers to tweak balance (free labor!) then simply promote it as an 'official mod' they could get some new players without having to open up in-game purchases. In an arcade/mod setup team would be random or 'opted in'. I guess as a 1 race vs 1 race it would be pretty boring since you could never mirror and the only thing that breaks up the monotony would be map pools and cheesy strats. Wouldn't make for a good eSports scene but could be cool if not entirely competitive. Would also need some sort of comeback potential since I think games would be decided as soon as 1 player got majority map control. Creeper World 4 developing multiplayer and giving it out to modders would add a tons of replayabilty at least.
I played that map last week and finally managed to win after 6½ hours on the in-game clock. Next game was a little over 1 hour. What I did was take the right third of the map pretty much exactly like you did, and then push VERY aggressively with only emitters and the occasional crimson. They have too many snipers and missiles spread out on the left two thirds of the map for launchers to be worth the hassle imo. You don't need to hold territory, so cut off mesh behind you to get more creep forward. Keep rebuilding your emitters in the front line, connected to eachother with mesh. Once you take their factory, it's game over for the AI.
That's the problem for me with this one, unlike the others I've seen tons of, this one is interesting to see from the other side. Which is why the editing is driving me fucking insane.. like, halfway through, and there's already been three bits where it's all 'Oh, how are we gonna get past this' Cut to having got past it, and no clue what happened .. .. this one deserved a more full video or something
I followed a similar strategy of sniping the ERNd cannon on the left and then heading for the ERN Portal, but I made heavy use of mass blob/spore waves (one or the other depending on target), including targeting nowhere and creating a fresh emitter outside my Mesh network, which is something you could not do in CW3 PAC maps. Edit: Which is eventually what Tom ended up doing. Derp for not watching the whole thing before commenting. XD
I got it in 2 hours by emitter pushing on the wall, because stashes are more focused when theres a wall behind them and you can push all the way to the back lines and get the factory like that :DD sadly launchers are kinda useless with that strat but it´s quite fun indeed :DDD
I looked this map up after seeing this. My strat for pushing the tall hill was a combo of emitters and stashes. Took forever, but as soon as I took the hill and put down three more emitters, that was apparently critical mass as at that point I took over the rest of the map almost by accident.
Quick tips. 1, way too many stashes, they lower your creep in the area. 2, crimson is almost always worth using. 3, the stuff you put on the ground slows your spread alot but also save alot of creep from destruction, but dont overdo it since it is a stash that dont release it again. Nice vid hope you are doing well and have a nice weekend.
@@Bogglemanify yep or have you ever thought "what if the ocean actively tried to flow towards you to drown you. got it? Now use heavy artillery against it!"
Someone else mentioned it before, but it’s so wholesome to hear Tom’s big stretch after a job well done at the end of these videos, especially creeper world videos.
you can actually overrun those shields by using crimson creep and a wave behind it. that's how you push in this game mode. also the creep wire is mostly used to keep held positions while you move your emitters to another location. for instance you could remove all your emitors (most of them) and replace them with launchers to overwhelm a hard point. Also you read my suggestions for playing this mode :D
Skimmers, Emitters and occasional crimson did it for me. Very fun! Once I collapsed the ERN bit, the map lasted about another 5 minutes as 8 skimmers just disable all the defenses instantly and a handful of emitters on the highest hill create enough creep to fill the map.
I love watching Creeper World gameplay, and was super excited to see you playing as the creep, as I noticed a recommended video of a stranger doing so yesterday, and was hoping for you to do it.. I kind of feel like mesh everywhere isn't a good strat, but putting down a few emiters and linking them together with it would have helped.. I might try this map tomorrow to see how I do with a couple plans.. My self-imposed goal is no artillary.. But we'll see.
I personally never found much use for it. I tried, but by the time I'm close enough for the lure to do anything, I'm close enough to kill thing I'm luring.
tom nerfed creep generation. hes really bad at CW4: pretty much all the play as Creeper maps which use the build as creeper style which let you actually build digitalis you should be exploiting digitalis to convert 90% or more of your creeper into crimson
I got just enough ERNs (like 8? I think it was) to get make enough blobs to take out the missile defense by the ERN lab and then switched them all to spore launchers and hit the ERN lab with those then changed all my stuff into spore launchers that were in sync and had all of them target around the factory, after the factory and the cannon with a ERN were taken out I placed a emitter where the factory was and used spores to get the level of creep to activate it, then just switch the spore launchers to take out the buildings around the rift lab to cut off all the defenses and take it out
Hey Tom! Two days ago on the 10th a new game came out called Rogue Glitch. A Rogue-like with just the movement keys and one button, very simple controls but a lot of dodging around and technique with the movement and the way you play. I managed to beat world 1 and 2 out of 6 so far, it seems like it would do well on your channel. The game is on steam
Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 471 How the turned have tabled, you have become the very thing you swore to destroy (and such others) XD This is a really cool game mode, would love to see more :D God, imagine VS Creeper World. One person being the Creep while the other normal :D
I saw this video, watched 2 minutes of it, thought that looked like a fun map, and did it myself. Had a mission timer of 5 hours. Holy cow did it take a while.
The creep needs a energy creater like some sort of creep tower that generates mutation/genetics. (A resource used to either produce more creep or build things instead of erns.
Put crimson things almost all around the stashes (mainly the flowing direction of push) to send an almost invincible tsunami of creeper, for it to work properly (and as some advice) use less of the (I don’t know it’s name) hay-like stuff, it attracts too much creeper into a single point making it harder to over power the enemy lines. I’m 12 and don’t have the game but I think watched enough to form this plan. Totally didn’t steal this from another video.
lolol looking back on a vid like this its funny to see you use the creep consuming armaments ontop of the mesh properly for once, lol capture and ring in creep generation and force the flow of the hight stabilized ceep wall from the mesh,
mesh works differently in creeper world 4 than it does in creeper world 3. spreading it everywhere actually hinders its progress so only use it for precision targeting
Been waiting for these modes to come out. They were fun in creeper world 3. And I don't know the strats for this game's creeper but I think the crimson is really overpowered
I did this in 4 hs, focused on using spores and blobs to kill ern having stuff, when i got rid on the sniper on the top i mass sync blobed the structure on the mid top that has 3 erns and the missile with one. After that, 7 spores killed the factory and then u can kill the base
Interesting to see the this game from the creep's side of things! If you wanted to do more maps where you played as the creep i'd be interested in that, it definitely didn't look easy (considering you said it took something like two hours to beat this map).
0:30 "i'm not gonna lie, i don't 100% know how to play it" as he does about the only thing you can do at that point. i'm waiting for more PAC maps to come out. i've done them all...
ifeel your pain, took me forever also, but realized that too much mesh is bad, spreads the creep and won't give you the push. once yu got an ern from a zone just go somewhere else and grab some more, need to kill the rift, not leave creep everywhere ;)
can you really go back to war with the blue menace after being one of them? is victory worth the cost of genociding your brothers from another creeper?
You used the mesh waaay too much. The mesh is good for holding areas, but not very good for pushing areas (because it holds a lot of creep, preventing it from moving outwards) You should've used blobs on the shield generators, destroying them. Takes a bit to rebuild them, allowing you to push in. That original side (the left) was the best place to push up. Go through there, cut off the Rift Lab, starve it and everything else. The right side is too well protected with the AC sprayer.
