Here’s what you should know about the debate on pork vs. chicken.
Timestamps
0:00 Chicken vs. pork
0:28 The problem with processed meat
1:45 The best type of meat to consume
3:33 Which is better, chicken or pork?
In this video, we’re going to talk about pork vs. chicken. Typically, commercial chicken and pork from a grocery store are highly processed. I never recommend consuming that type of meat.
Problems with processed meat:
• It’s factory farmed
• The animals consume GMO grains
• The animals are given antibiotics
• The animals are given drugs that are arsenic-based
• The animals are given formaldehyde
It’s best to get meat that is:
• Pasture-raised (not free-range)
• Non-GMO (organic)
• Antibiotic-free
• Hormone-free
• Nitrate-free
• No sugar added
Personally, I prefer pork because it’s fattier meat. If you have chicken with skin, the skin does provide some fattiness. Just remember that if you’re on the ketogenic diet, you want more fat in your diet. Lean meats stimulate insulin levels more than fatty meats. Pork would be better on your insulin levels.

90% of all beef, and lamb in New Zealand is grass fed, and lately most of our pork is free farmed. We have pigs, deer and goats, wild in the forests and they are regarded as pests, so free to hunt ,for the table.Sea food is expensive to buy, but can be caught for the table without a licence. Most of our dairy is 95% grass fed, and there are huge fines if milk is sent to the factories with antibiotics in it.

Is having your own farm and/or garden really such a bad idea? If you have your own you can actually save money. The transition may take some saving, but once you are fully transition there won’t be much you have to buy unless you are a meat eater. Also if enough people begin to grow there own food we can rely on each other for food and it would always be local, so less processed, and you can trade what you do have for what you don’t right there in the community

Hey Doc, Another one of my Keto Sensai's (Dr. Ken Berry) says there is no problem with nitrates. Says the body will just break it down and use it. That said, I have been avoiding meats with nitrates AND sugars. It seems where there is one you will find the other on the ingredient list not to far behind. Right now I eat out several times a week, but in 2022 my new big change is to go organic! 80lbs gone in 32 weeks. Off all meds. Blood work is damn near perfect! Resting pulse a year ago was 102bpm. Two weeks ago it was 75bpm. Just turned 62, feel like I'm 50. 80lbs more to lose. Pretty sure you saved my life, or at least my quality of life. Thanks!

Dr Berg I have been eating pasture raised and never eat meat in publuc. One question -doesnt pork digest much quicker in the body?
@Jason-nx4gn
@Jason-nx4gn 6 лет назад
I think one of the point of ketogenic diet is to clear our body from previous toxic build up in the fat tissue and cells by recycling the body fats into the liver. Pork contains a lot of toxic in its fat due to it being a non perspiring animal and the scavenging diet. It defeats the purpose of ketogenic diet if we were to consume toxic fats again from diet. We cant even get organic farm fish from the market and i highly doubt the authenticity of pork that claimed to be raised organic. The fat content from chicken can be easily adjusted by cooking it with coconut oil or simply adding some healthy oil dressing, its simple and much healthier and keto friendly. I’m chinese and i came from a pork eating family so i speak without prejudice against pork. And last month i just saw a pork company that uses organic logo on its pork product. upon checking with the respective organic certification organization it was found that the pork company was in fact faking the organic logo on its product. Please double check with the respective organic certification organization before believing anything stated.

These comments are fascinating. Suddenly everyone is a doctor or priest. He's essentially just saying to eat higher quality meat, in order to feel better and cause less harm to animals. Despite your ideology based on this holy book or that vegan website, humans and many other species have consumed the flesh of animals for millions of years. Not that I mind, do your thing... when I cook a meal with vegetarians, we don't eat meat, and with Muslims, we don't eat pork. It's fine. But confessing your ideology isn't going to change nature. Anyway, I'm just complaining about complaining. Also, to the people that are actually commenting on the subject of the video: if it's a money issue, I'd say you're better off spending twice as much on high quality meat and eating half the quantity and complementing with more green vegetables. I bet Dr. Berg would agree.

Better than chicken or pork, backyard laying ducks. A few breeds lay as well or better than chickens, produce extra large to jumbo eggs, have proportionally larger yolks with higher fat content. Well fed ducks carry some of the best tasting fat there is, even better than pork fat. Ducks are easy to contain (with a couple of exceptions, but not the laying breeds AFAIK) as it only takes a light weight 2 foot fence (2' x 150' of 2" mesh is around $20). Keeping dogs, raccoons, etc. out just requires a hot wire a few inches above. To charge the hot wire does require a small charger at around $50+. Ducks won't dig in loose soil like chickens, or create dust baths, but they are experts at mixing mud -- keep water and dirt a good distance apart. Ducks will also catch many flying insects that chickens can't and love slugs that most chickens won't eat. Raise black soldier fly larva in a greenhouse environment all year. They provide high quality protein and fat, plus minerals and vitamins, to the duck's backyard forage, and the larva can be fed on food waste and manure at no cost. The larva self harvest when they are about to pupate, losing their intestinal tract, climbing out into a container, and have a naturally antibiotic exoskeleton so become a very clean food source, even for humans that can get over their aversion to insect eating.

Without watching the full video, I'd say pork. It has been traditionally viewed in Asia as the more nutritional meat than chicken. More fats, more organ meats, a ton of white meat, and pig feet and snout has lot of collagen, and pig blood, liver also used for vital nutrients. A lot of Asians like myself often eat pig intestines, heart, and stomachs.
@TM686K
@TM686K 4 года назад
Same in the Pacific Islands. Very nutrient dense meat but very easy to tip the scales due to it's high calories. Unlike Asian culture, portion control is none existent in the Pacific which is why we are big lol.

Thank you, it’s always good to have as much information as possible these days. My inquiry is, the physical biology of the pig is that they do not have pores to sweat from, this sweating comes only from the snout/nose. So they have a lot of toxins in their body due to this absence of pores to sweat out of. Plus naturally they are not healthy eaters on their own. Like a cow will graze on grass this is healthy! Is this correct so far as your knowledge?! I have always heard that eating pigs are very dirty animals and bottom feeders such as lobster, shrimp eat the garbage from the bottom of the ocean, including fish poo. To not eat these . So knowing this if the information is correct, how can this be healthy? I’m not debating this topic. It’s a sincere question. Thank you ! Everyone stay Healthy and Safe 💕😷🧼👏🏼💦

As far as I know, humans r the only animals that sweat. So if people think pigs r disgusting for not sweating, they should think the same of all other animals

Lots of vegitable is grown out of dirty fertilizer and they are healthy ... So if any animal consume unhealthy food then we can't conclude if it is healthy or unhealthy based of what that animal eats😂
@mikepeek5655
@mikepeek5655 7 месяцев назад
Possibly. Just a thought. Animals are the " filters" of all the crap they consume for us to eat them. What you think.? No research here just makes sense to me sense we eat them on carnivore diet and people become more healthy. And....look what we do as humans.....yes not the same but we eat good or bad and look what comes out the other end. Lol And....cow manure is used as a fertilizer for plants and to enrich the soil to grow plants. I just think this notion that it's a direct correlation when it's actually the opposite of what we think is healthy or not. Not an expert but my observation.

Just eat less meat. If you eat 1/4lb of the grass fed beef if only cost you $2. :) You have to decide you are going to eat healthy food and then modify your quantities based on price. I don't eat filet mignon every night because its expensive. I do eat a lot of veggies bc they are very affordable. If you buy a slow cooker or something you would be surprised how many meals you can make with some smaller meat portions. Eggs are inexpensive.

one day at a time - I feed a family of five and find I'm ok to only eat meat just once a week. Tuna in a can is cheapest I think and super healthy compared to raw pork. I eat eggs almost everyday. The Bible suggests not to eat pork anyway so I don't choose it on purpose. If it's mixed into hot dogs or lasagna sometimes I don't have a choice unless I decide to not eat at all which is not fun if it's that or nothing. Pigs eat poop. Chickens don't.

I know that goes “against the grain” of what most people are eating these days.....but honestly I feel really good when I eat meat a couple times a week. When I do eat chicken I always eat the dark meat. . Oh and more fish too....salmon. Eggs. Keto is anything but limited as I actually feel better with less protein anyway......

I m so happy to this video! Actually we have been eating organic poultry for more than 5years. But since our children started school, we change to regular chickens. And when I wash the chicken I just hated the wiggly wobbly feeling of the chicken. And I lost all my appetite. What I did I switch my meat to organic pork, as the price is much lower than chicken and my body is working well with pork meat.i have insulin resistance, some people tell my not to eat fatty pork, well I think the quality of pork and quantities you consume is what matters the most.and of course the way you cook is important too.
