In Part 2, I rebuild the brake calipers for track days using high-temperature silicone seals and dust boots. I also upgrade the stock rubber brake lines to braided stainless steel.

If you use a tool to slightly press on the brake pedal, it will pinch off the fluid from the master cylinder. It causes a suction effect that prevents fluid from leaking in the lines.. It's like dipping a straw in liquid and then pinching one end. It works beautifully and recently when doing my caliper rebuilds, I left the calipers off for days and only leaked less than a half ounce of fluid. Also, I decided to go with titanium shims and normal seals and dust boots. The titanium shims made all the difference. 6 months since my last caliper rebuild and no issues yet. Thanks for the video.

Couldn't believe this is true but it is. I use a two by four and place it between front seat and pedal and then adjust front seat foward to press on the pedal.

One way to keep fluid from leaking out is to put cellphone over the brake reservoir opening and make airtight with a rubber band or the cap. It will keep fluid from leaking out using the same principal as holding water in a straw by putting your finger over the top opening. More simple than having brake pedal depressed which also works fine. In terms of getting pistons out, some cheap small clamps from Harbor Freight with protective ends can be used to keep 3 pistons in so each one can be popped out individually and seals/dust boots replaced. These clamps are only $2 each and can be thrown away after the job since they will be covered in brake fluid.

Whoa. Cat litter? Great place to lose a nut. I had a new motor installed and it quit 300 miles later. The other repair shop found a pound of grease sweep in the oil pan.

You're the man Cliff! Thanks for the instructional videos. It's going to make life easier when it's time to do my first brake job on a 987.2 CS

Great in-depth video. Thanks Cliff! How about some GT3 upper brake ducts? I put them on my Boxster S

I've looked into it, but the only thing I was able to find was a kit that replaced the entire front ducting system and was going to cost almost $1500

I recently rebuilt the Brembo calipers of my Nissan 350Z Track Edition. what I feel works better than compressed air is to put the caliper into a vise with a rag protect the paint. use a pair of long screwdrivers through each opening. the leverage pulls the pistons out very cleanly. I don't worry about destroying the original seals because they are being thrown away.

terrific channel, Cliff. thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm a decent home mechanic but new to the Cayman. I've been wrenching on Ford's and Nissan's for years and mostly just don't want to make any expensive mistakes. thank you for the pro tip on those lifetime rotors. I will probably be putting in an order soon. I was practicing threshold breaking at the track yesterday and hammered the brakes pretty hard.

Awesome! I'm looking to do the same to my 987.2 Boxster S, closely following the series. Is there a factory service manual you're using to get the instructions from? Could you recommend a way for me to get one?

Cliff this is great! I’m planning on replacing brake lines, rotors, pads, and a hi temp caliper rebuild at the same time on my 987.1S. Could I use the vacuum bleeder to remove all the brake fluid first, do all the work and then use the bleeder again to refill the lines? Thanks!

Hello Cliff. What a good alternative for the 7.5 mL StopTech Pressure Seal Lubricant? TIA for the assist.

Hi Cliff! Thanks for the great video. I'm planning to rebuild my 997.2 C2S caliper guessing pistons are stuck. Really good information for my future job. I posted some 997.2 contents on my channel, check those out if interested.
