It hurts a little inside every time I think about how Wheatley was introduced as a lovable moron that we forgave because he had an adorable personality. Then he betrayed us, tried to kill us, and turned evil. But when he flew off into space, my heart broke. That, my friends, is good story writing.
i recently played portal 2 and honestly I loved Wheatley even when he turned evil. oh god i was so upset when he got sucked into space...i felt terrible.
Camera Kitty ikr? When he apologized, it just broke me. I flipping hate Galdos when Chell had Wheatley in her hands, she really trying not to let him go, but then she just knocked him out of Chell's hands. I just can't get over him screaming: DONT LET ME GO!! He's just an adorable loving moron (except he's not, I'm to lazy to call him anything else :-D)
I love Wheatley be honest here if anyone which was a fan of Wheatley had the chance to marry him they wouldn't need to be asked twice or just me? Edit: 2 years later I regret letting everyone see this but since you all already know...yeah...I still find him adorable. Too bad he went insane with power. Edit again: Someone reminded me of this comment and I'm so angered how dare I be reminded of this weird comment. P.s. Wheatley is still cute but don't marry insane ai orbs. Especially don't mention wanting to marry them online when you're 12/13 years old.
You can see that many animators have similar opinion on how Weathley would look like as human unlike GlaDOS, I wounder how much creepier Portal would be if it would have human models of Weathley & GlaDOS instead of the ones we have in game
i agree, if i had a spacesuit i would go up there and keep him with me all the time, like a little kitty :3 its not like he would be able to anything, since i dont own any apeture equipment that he would connect to... :P
How can anyone blame him for turning evil? A core so gullible is no match for the corrupting power of total control of the *ENTIRE* Aperture Science facilities... And he regrets every bad things he had done... as of now, forgiveness is the one thing he wants most... and it isn't really that hard to give...
Nobody should blame Wheatley. The minute GLaDOS was ripped out of her body, she started being a sane, rational, not-going-to-kill-you-with-neurotoxin AI. The minute poor Wheatley gets plugged in, he goes mad with power. It's not their fault; it's that body! Something's wrong with the programming in that body and that's why both GLaDOS and Wheatley got messed up in the head.
Kagehime Well, no that GLaDOS could kill her with neurotoxin from a potato, but still, I don't mind Wheatley's betrayal, being his fault or not, I just love him and his voice (the one in charge of casting the voices for Portal should get an award).
Kagehime But it's true that if you attach a "Brain Damaging Core" to the body that controls the whole facility, then it's sure to get corrupted by power. So you're right, no one should blame Wheatley at all, his programming just wasn't designed to ocupate GLaDOS's position.
lilmiss copypaster It's been at least implied if not proven that Cave and Caroline were having an affair, if not actually together, and that Chell was Caroline's daughter. Not sure if Chell was adopted by Caroline, or if the whole adoption thing is just part of GLaDOS' weird humor, or what. I'm not a lore expert lol.
Interestingly, what this hits home for me is how well realized Wheatley was when he was basically just an eyeball. This is cool, but he was really just as strong and real as a character without even having a face. A testament to Valve's design and animation team.
I feel so bad for Wheatley. He was just a poor, naive AI who was being controlled by that power hungry and corrupted body. If I could, I would rescue him from space :(
Nah, he was just an idiot who went on a power trip as soon as he got some. The body just enabled him. He only got the testing itch after a little while, whereas he immediately betrayed chell when he got the body.
"Thanks! All we had to do was pull that lever." "What!? Well no you press the bu- AHHHHHHHH!" "Heheheheh... I know we're in a lot of trouble and probably about to die, but that was worth it."
If I was in there when wheately took control, I would be bowing and saying ALL HAIL THE CORE THAT IS NOT A MORON, just because: 1. I love wheately so much 2. To save myself from being killed 3. To annoy glados cuz I absolutely HATE her 4. I rather stay with wheately then leave
The entire ability to comment on this video is a mistake. Go back to the hellhole you crept your way out of and stop ruining portal. Failure to comply will result into the death of your grandfather that you care so about in your recordings.
Lancer Lancer While I can agree with myself that the hellspawn that is humanized portal characters makes me question why I even bothered going to the end of the video, the type of audience attracted to this (as can be seen in this video’s comment section) is the major part of my emotional “recent” comment
Ugh I really want to see the whole game animated I know how much work that would take just portal has such a great story and characters (sure there is not many but yeah) portal is my favorite game
Supermariogirlz If that does happen, I hope it doesn't end up like every other video game movie. I'd much rather prefer an animated version of the full game. That'd be awesome.
If Portal was a movie I'd buy all of the DVDs that were ever made! >:3 If it was a bad movie though I would stay lock up in my room forever! WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT OF LIVING IF IT WAS TURNED INTO A BAD MOVIE!?!?!?!?! D: THE THOUGHT OF IT SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF ME!!!!!
*SPOILERS LOL* Ok, so I was like, "GLaDOS YOU MONSTER! WHEATLY I'LL SAVE YOU" At the beginning of the game, when he betrayed me, "Why did I ever trust this monster!?" When I through him into space, "Wh-what!? YEAH GO DIE IN SPACE YOU MONSTER!" Then when he apologizes.... "Well.... I'm sorry Wheatly." Wheatly was my favorite! Plot twists suck. XD

Wheatley was mind controlled when he got plugged into the Aperture Science console. It somehow poisoned his mind the same way it poisoned GLaDOS. As soon as Wheatley got disconnected he went back to his normal lovable self.
@@siddharthbhatia8815 thats what i think too, it must have installed a kind of software that was made for GlaDos but wasn't ment for cores, but it took a short while beacuse the software was installing. Thats why i still love him Little cinnamon bun
1:50 Actually....... Why do we have to leave right now? The expressions on this scene were very well done! Like Glados body start to infect his mind and he really turned insane dangerous!
Wheatley's betrayal wasn't his fault. It was the system overwhelmingly him with power and new ideas. He went back to normal after he was separated from it.
Steve Merchant kills it as Wheatley. It's a shame that most of you probably only knew him for this role. I've heard he isn't as popular in America than he is England.
Somebody needs to make Portal into a movie series. In parts. Like... first comes the creation of Aperture. Then the downfall of it, when caroline gets turned to Glados (plus rattman's story). After that, the creation and effect of Wheatley. Following, the story of Portal: Still alive. Then, the second game would be turned into two movies. First one: the first half of the game, ending just after Wheatley "punches you into the pit." Second movie: climbing back up the first aperture to wheatley, ending with the cutscene at the end of the game (after the credits). Last movie is the life chell finds after she's released, finding wheatley somehow at the end. Or maybe this should be a TV series. Either way, who's with me??
AnthonyB's Channel DISNEY COULD PUT PORTAL IN THEIR THEME PARKS OMG PORTAL ATTRACTION. They could replace the stitch escape ride with glados in the room and you could I dunno try to escape or something idk they'll figure it out if they do buy portal
It's so satisfying to watch when GLaDOS crushes Wheatly, and just his eyes flashing as the mechanics and hardware fails, I just enjoy it. Idk, I may be a psychopath, but it so freaking satisfying.
I'm sure each person that liked this would be willing to PAY to see this as a full movie. Just something to think about. I'm poor and I'd pay 20 bucks to see it! There, theres one person for you! 20 dollars...
When Wheatley betrayed you, he did what he was programmed to do- made the worst possible decision. Do you hate a knife when you cut yourself while chopping vegetables?
Wheatley looks straight out of "Atlantis" in most of these and honestly? That's probably the PERFECT way to do "Portal" as a film. Props to all the Animators!
Why am I fangirling over a bunch of lines and colors and a voice REALLY SELF, REALLY I HATE MY DUMB BODY FOR NAKING ME FEEL WEIRD FEELINGS I CANT EXPLAIN IN A RU-vid COMMENT
I'm usually not into changing characters forms (for example; making Wheatley human), but this is great. You're really good at facial expressions, and it really helps show how you interpret his feelings.
The context is a really good video game, that involves puzzles with portals. You could play it yourself or just watch it, I recommend playing it yourself as it brings the best experience of solving the puzzles yourself and you get to learn how to start “Thinking with Portals”.
Okay but why is human wheatley so lovable??? HE's like an awkward nerd that messes everything up but finally gets the chance to get revenge like?? Can I hug him??
you know when glados said chell did all the work that wasn't true. wheatley DID help chell navigate around and if he didn't have a flashlight in chapter 5 it would have been a hard game
I know Wheatley tried to kill us, but I feel if we grabbed him and kept him safe something would have happened. Maybe he wasnt so bad, just got a power rush. Maybe if we saved him it would be different. My heart just b r e a k s seeing him calling out for help as he gets swept away..
