Porterhouse Steak Breakfast Cooked on the Campfire. Canvas Baker Tent.

In this video, I head out to my garden and set up my home built Baker tent as a lockdown camp - a place where I can be outside, relax in comfort, cook and film until such time as we can all get back out and enjoy our woodlands and favourite outdoor areas.
Having set up camp, spreading a liberal layer of bark chippings about to keep the think mud at bay, and processing some fire wood, I get on with a bit of breakfast. This week I am having a real treat - a huge Porterhouse steak kindly supplied by The Steak Shop. It is a monster of a steak at 2 1/4 inches thick, a Sirloin and a Filet separated by a T-Bone. Brought up to temperature high above the fire and then seared quickly over the embers to give it that delicious smoky flavour only a real fire can produce. Breakfast of kings!
I would like too thank The Steak Shop for sending me this amazing lump of cow! Before this pandemic hit us, The Steak Shop were a thriving steak restaurant in Ealing, West London called Steak On The Green. They served up big, top quality steaks, the kind that are hard to find in England and people came from miles around to enjoy their food. When restaurants were forced to close as the pandemic spread, they looked for others ways of making ends meet and The Steak Shop was born. They sell the same specialised high quality steaks that they served in their restaurant, by mail order, shipping them in insulated cold boxes right to your door so you can cook them how you like them at home.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Hi everyone, thanks for watching! For anybody who hasn’t watched it yet, please head over and watch Andy’s (Kent Survival) video - he also cooked a Porterhouse steak, but upstaged me with a chips and asparagus garnish! It’s a ‘Steak Off!’ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yi8_atT-WHY.html

You win Simon, by highlighting just the steak, no garnish or extras, just as it should be with a steak of this quality ;) Andy did a great meal if you had a cheap supermarket steak though!

Just watched Andy's and while I do love sparrowgrass (and aspergers aren't bad either) I have to go with yours, Simon, mainly because yours was over an open flame and being from one of the southern ex-colonies I received my amateur's degree (celsius) in steakery and beeriness near an open fire.

@@eponaalbion Dude if you're in the UK and have a Sainsburys near you they do 21 day matured steaks (2) with knobs of garlic butter for £3.50 - I kid you not I'm about to get those bad boys on in a bit.

You can't beat a nice steak cooked outdoors in the countryside. I'm a keen angler and cooking a steak on my portable bbq by the waterside is my go to fishing meal. Don't forget to add a nice big portobello mushroom seasoned with salt, pepper and butter then wrapped in foil and cooked alongside. :p

Wonderful Brontosaurus steak! Brings back memories of successfully starting a campfire under a constant downpour in the Canadian Rockies and cooking three of these to mouthwatering perfection for my cousin, my late father, and myself. Only fresh venison would top that. A toast to you, Simon, and the lovely Maggie for cheering us up! Cheers and thank you!

That sirloin looked bloody delicious and cooked to my liking, if not yours. Give me sirloin over fillet, any day of the week. My dad once cooked me steak for breakfast. I'd been to a race meeting the evening before- Thursday pay day/steak night - and had been too tired to do anything except have a bath and go to bed. So, I woke up starving and my dad cooked It for me, for breakfast. That Friday was also 'Family Fast Day' and the teacher thought I was taking the Mick when instead of 'bread and water' or 'porridge made with water' being my response to the question "What did you have for breakfast?" I said "Steak, mushrooms, onion rings, chips and coleslaw". I almost got hoyed out the class, but my friend verified that I was telling the truth. Still makes me chuckle.
