Oh my goodness Cozy Powell would have been a perfect fit for a Zep reunion! The Honeydrippers were a period of therapy for Robert Plant, returning to the music he loved and performing out of pure love for it. (And helping the musicians out by giving them a reference.)

Bonzy Powell for a Reunion :) His sound did fit the band, more than Tony Thompson did...big time. Although NOBODY could replace Bonham, Cozy would have managed to provide the Zepps with enough power to let them shine. Cozy's days with Emerson and Lake made for kick ass live shows indeed. I agree, the Honeydrippers were therapy...

I’ve always recognized Slow Dancer as a post Zeppelin thing. Cozy does a truly incredible job on drums here and Robert dusted off the old Out Door/In The Evening vocal for it. The monstrous, repeating triplets towards the end of the tune resemble Bonzo pretty close. He’d have been a fitting replacement for John but I’m glad they never replaced him. I’ve said it before and echo it once more; when John died he took Zeppelin with him. Rest in sweet peace brothers’ Bonzo and Cozy. We miss you tremendously still and always will.

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories I love your work , the 'In Through the Outdoor' series was exemplary. The Limit Club on West Street in Sheffield was primarily a punk/new wave club. You had to go downstairs into the place so if you look outside, you will see the fan air vents. I was only around 14 years old, but I remember peering through the vent and I caught the band sound checking and saw Robert having a drink at the bar. At one point the band began to play a little bit of 'Day Tripper' and it sounded fab with Robert's vocals but alas they never performed the song in the live set.

If the only way I was ever going to hear Plants voice again- was to be with Robbie Blunt then SO BE IT!!--I'm so glad that they collaborated together and came up with the best and the most Zeppelin-like solo material in my opinion.I will never forget Aug 82 and slitting that fresh copy of "Pictures" open and pulling out the crisp vinyl LP with the SWAN SONG Label-To me --I was placing the new Zeppelin LP on the turntable-my hand trembled as I cued up Side 1 Song 1-- a tune called Burning Down One Side---This WAS the New Zep album to me!-Can you imagine like I did--Bonzo playing on that track.?? I don't think I'd be able to live without ever hearing Plant's voice again.His first 4 albums are Monumental -He was the Voice of Zeppelin and now teamed with the Amazing and Clean playing of Robbie Blunt-the second best guitar player ever.Long live Robbie Blunt!-Long live Robert Plant and Long live Jimmy ,Jonesy and the Led Zeppelin LEGACY! 🪶🪶👍

Plant and Zeppelin would go through a lot of these old 50s tunes during recording and soundcheck. His voice was perfect for them. I loved the nostalgia of it but it wasn't him. Pictures brought Robert back. Robbie Blunt was a perfect guitarist. I love these docs because much of it is new to me. I knew of the secret show. Actually one of the first video's I found on RU-vid.

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Really appreciate what your doing. The details that you share are for greatness. Cozy was an amazing drummer and you absolutely on point he would of fit in Zeppelin but Zeppelin is not Zeppelin without all four lads! I always vowed Zeppelin would be the first band I ever seen live after being turned on to them by my brother but not by any of their studio recordings but a bootleg recording of Blue Berry Hill. It was 1980 and I was on my way to the ticket office. I was leaving school and many would have radios playing and the tragic news broke in those very moments. I'll never forget it. There isn't another band that can compare to the Mighty Zeppelin for me. So my dream of seeing them was over so I did the next best thing I seen Robert for my very first show. Of course it was a far stretch from a Zeppelin show. At the time I never thought I would see them together. On the Unledded tour I actually had a chsnce to meet Jimmy and Robert for a few minutes. I think that would had been the perfect time for a full reunion. By the second leg of that tour they were in full Zeppelin mode. Keep doing what your doing. I still have pt 3&4 to catch up on.

Great Scott! I SAW, live, what's billed as "Discipline" here, only that was the name of the album and the band was called "King Crimson." And it shore warn't 1.75 POUNDS, it was more like $1.75 an ounce, and 16 ounces to a pound. FIERCE BAND, me and every other numb-nutted guitarist in MY universe spent a whole lot of time trying to play these "songs" that would start off in, like, 15/16 time for each two-and-three-quarters measures, lasting for seventeen-and-a-half measures, but then it would get complicated. I'd be Morgan Willing Toobett that there are STILL a few skeletal ex-musicians locked up in loony bins, forty-one years later, still frantically flapping their hands AND feets trying to count four different time signatures at once. And Tongue makes five? Twitch, twitch. "Sadistically Perverted" is a term usually applied to SEX of one strain or another, but I don't think Robert Fripp DOES sex. If he does, there are probably something like eleven and twenty-five-sixty-fourths li'l Frippers bouncing about. In-Out, In-Out in mere 4/4 time? Not likely.

These are amazingly produce These are amazingly produced videos but I’m not sure what was being implied with Plant laughing when that interviewer asked him who are the Honeydrippers are. It was taken out of context because if you see the uncut Plant interview, he started laughing because they had to restart the interview a couple of times and that was the 2nd or 3rd time the question had to be asked because of technical issues so Plant couldn’t keep a straight face because he had already given an answer and then had to give the same answer twice a few moments later.

It's like a "cock tease" isn't it? Plant singing "Bring it on Home", and the crowd must have been itching to hear another Zeppelin sone that was never to be. If I have to be honest, I think Plant solo was nothing special at all. There's billions of great singers. A lot of them plain old folks that are buskers in the street. I rememeber when Plan't first solo album came out, I had crazy expectations. I was young, naive, but I realised that the magic of Zeppelin was gone. These days, I am very OK with it. Just like there are only 12 episodes of "Fawlty Towers", I have grown to accept that the studio catalog of Zep's recordings are all there is, and not to expect any more. It helps keep the magic. I am struggling to express myself here, but hopefully someone understands.

I can see the tease on Bring it on Home, it's strange to see Plan't basically doing this throughout the 80s, whether changing his band or just playing the love/hate game with Zepp. I believe Collins had a great impact on his work but he just wasn't born a songwriter like Mick Jagger or Freddie, to see what he managed to do despite this is interesting. I think Plant post 2000 work is better and his output from the last 12 years is respectable and has a level of honesty that he finally achieved. I appreciate your comment, it brings out important topics indeed!

Plant wanted back to his roots, the never ending quest of his teens...he really struck gold with Zeppelin but it was Jimmy's project, Robert's soul i don't believe found the answers till much later, his work from 2000-present day seem to be like his finest albums, age has REALLY made him find peace!

When did Plant sell off his Zeppelin royalties? And do you have any insight on that? My take is with the advent of "New Wave" that he thought that their catalog would become practically worthless and thought he was doing the prudent thing in cashing-out. No one could forsee how the musical landscape and business would make such a massive shift in the ensuing decades...
@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories
@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Год назад
Thank you for bringing this up!!! I did my research on this and it was around 83' with the solo deal Grant negotiated for him. While it was not the best decision considering how classic rock sales would grow over the next decade, when we look at the context he had his reasons. I will cover this when we get to 1985 as it helps us understand many of Percy's comments and decisions in that strange and exciting year for Post Zepp!

@@GINKBB so Zepp wise he makes a cut off any Zepp album that contains NEW material past 1982, BBC SESSIONS and HOW THE WEST WAS WON. He retained 1/3 creative control so he can veto a release and he's made that clear. Publishing wise he still keeps them.
