17 concrete trucks (170 yards) and a concrete pump truck = 8000 square feet of slab. Thanks to Beaver Lake Concrete, Brundage Bone, and the concrete guys for the hard work. The building came from qualitymetalinc.com/ in AR. The ceiling height inside at the peak is 22'. The sidewalls are 16' tall. The end walls have a 8' overhang and the sidewalls have a 10' overhang.

Thanks man, good to know. I have a bobcat t770 so wanna do some of the prep also to save $$. Like your videos and your channel. Looks beautiful up there, I have 20 acres here but florida is so flat. There are a few steel building manufactures around here, haven't finalized who it's going to be yet. I found your channel from all your equipment videos cat 299d etc

Just read a few of the comments asking the price. I paid 20K for a 65 X 120 floor done with a laser screed. It is perfectly flat. The concrete company did a monolithic pour meaning it had a thickened edge for a footing and huge pads poured for 3/4 J bolts that hold the steel building. They also set all the bolts.

did you subcontract this out? I'd so I assume you had the specs you needed from the building manufacturer and then just bid it out? Just wondering, taking on a 100 x 100 here in Florida on my property in the next year or 2. Where you able to save some money with prep with your CTL? Thanks Dave
@GodsCountry
@GodsCountry 9 лет назад
David Varner Hey Dave! Thanks for the comments. The building belongs to my brother and it was a combination of doing a lot of the work ourselves and subbing some of it out. We did all of the site prep but the actual concrete was subbed out. The building plans specified the concrete bolt placement and it wasn't to hard to do. The concrete finishing company had a lot of guys working on the pour and it worked out well. We erected a lot of the steel ourselves and we have a friend who is a general contractor who helped out a lot throughout the whole building. 100 x 100 should be awesome.

How would you safeguard against unforeseen rain or even light showers nowhere in the forecast once the pad is poured and not set or cured??
@GodsCountry
@GodsCountry 7 лет назад
I've got to say that I'm not sure. I'm not a concrete guy. That's why a concrete contractor was hired, so that he had to guard against those things and fix them if there had been rain. I do know that there are concrete blankets that can be used to cover the slab after it has cured enough to walk on. At that point though I don't know that rain would hurt it.

Hey Gavin! Sorry there isn't a video of the footing pour. I believe the footings were around 12" wide by 18" or so deep. Thats a pretty standard footer for our area. The footing was around the perimeter of the building.

HAnd screeding that much, the guy out in the field can match the guy on the form after doing it so many times. Then Way out in the field they match preexisting mud. We use a power screed on my jobs. Try to find some old fencing pipe / they like 1 and 7/8 thick up to 2 and 1/5. Easier to remove, easy to clean and reuse, you move em along and pour in sections like this crew, and they don't tend to float on their 1x4 stands that are staked in the ground. I've not seen a better method for screeding rails

Did they put anchor bolts into the slab for the steel frame wall verticals? Or did you drill and set concrete anchors? Was the concrete much thicker where the steel framing bolted up?
@GodsCountry

They put anchor bolts in the concrete when it was poured. I don't think it was a thicker pour where the frame is bolted. It's 6" everywhere.

Anyone know what it costs to build a 60x80 metal building on a 12'' dirt foundation pad with 6'' of foundation, 20ft eve height, with (4) 12x16 bay doors? Totally open space inside and insulation only on the roof. Located on the gulf coast so needs to be windstorm certified. Asked for some quotes, but nobody has given me a turnkey ready to go price.

Depends on the depth and concrete strength required... its not too hard to get quotes, the more people you can get to help locally the better (my grandpa, myself and about 4 others poured about a 40x40 slab ourselves for his garage). It will turn out nicer if you have people that do it all the time though even though we knew what we were doing we don't do it often.
