AccurateShooter.com tests the "World's Finest Trimmer" (WFT) from Little Crow Gunworks. This $70 tool fits on a power drill and trims cartridge brass quickly, indexing off the shoulder. We compared to manual trimming with a Hornady case trimmer. The WFT was nearly twice as fast, trimmed case length was more uniform, and the WFT was easier to use. This is an excellent tool. Only downside is that, currently, it is cartridge specific.

Thanks for the review. It looks like a solid, well built tool that leverages a cordless drill that most of us already have. I trim a LOT of brass, so I wish it had a carbide cutter and I particularly wish it would chamfer and deburr at the same time. Otherwise, it looks like a much smaller and much less expensive version of the Giraud power trimmer.

The Wilson trimmer uses a case-holder design to secure the case. The Forster uses a collet and pilot system. The Hornady trimmer uses a Cam-lock with a shell-holder type slotted base for the rim. From what we've observed, both the Forster and Wilson may be able to hold dimensions better than the Hornady.

Accurate Shooter, what is the power tool you have mounted to the bench that is operating the WFT tool? I have been looking everywhere trying to find something like that I could mount to my bench.

What you are buying is just a bit that fits into basically any drill from a cordless to an impact to a full on drill press. If you have a little power drill you are all set.

I think the purpose here was to show that the accuracy is comparible to a much slower trimmer. He never said it was the most accurate. He is showing that it is accurate within .001, which is very good for the speed of the unit. For someone wanting to load a bulk amount of ammo this is very good. If you want high accuracy than naturaly use a slower process. This was a good comprehensive review.

Hello and thank you for your review. I bought the 300 Blackout and the 6.8 to augment my 5 L.E. Wilson cals. The Wilson even with the power adapter is much more time consuming. It took me a while to get the cases to uniform length. Speed of drill and pressure against TWFT influences length. I will be building my new work bench today and wanted to know where can I get/build the rail system on your bench. Thank you kindly and good job on the video. I use a zip lock bag to catch the metal shavings.

@Navyguy0023 I have to agree. I can get consistently less than one thousandth using a manual trimmer with a power attachment. If there is that much variation, something is terribly wrong with your trimmer.

I would also like to know what motor you're using.

WOW my Foster ends up with .0005 to .001 variation over 1000+ cases. Either you don't know how to use the Hornady or you've slighted this towards selling the power trimmer.

Just got my wft in the mail in 223. It stays within .001 if the brass is from the same lot. With range pcik up brass, I have got 1.744 to 1.753 set at 1.750 good fast trimmer though

I like the T-slots you have on your bench, I'm in the process of building mine, and thought about using them so I can lock different accessories. Is your press mounted to the bench or the T-slots? Yours is the first that I've ever seen.

I'd like to know if possible the adapter bought for the motor to be able to attach the WFT. Thanks!

Will this work in a 3/8" chuck or do you need a 1/2"?

Agreed, not sure the Hornady made the best comparison in this video. I use a Wilson micrometer trimmer and get a half-thousandth of variability. Is the WFT tool adjustable for trim length? I doubt I would use it for precision loads, but for bulk ammo I culd see buying one. I would want to be able to adjust the trim length, though - hopefully it doesn't just cut the case to SAAMI minimum or something.

I'm getting an etched line on the necks and lower on the body from the trimmer. Anyone else? Do you need to use a certain amount of lube on the outside? Thanks!

I bought one of these a few months ago and love it. I've found that OAL will vary depending on case manufacturer because the trimmer indexes off this... but this is not a problem since we sort our reloads. My question is: How does one sharpen the blade? A dull blade creates all kinds of problems.

Hey there boss, why don't you try chamfering and deburring those cases and then measuring?
@AccurateShooter
@AccurateShooter 12 лет назад
We don't sell the power trimmer. The numbers are what they are. The Forster uses a completely different method to hold the case -- a collet with pilot vs. a cam-lock shell-holder.

I meant to say the trimmer indexes off of the shoulder of the brass case.

My Wilson trimmer is MUCH more accurate than your's seems to be, I think your manual lathe style trimmer is a bad example to compare to the WFT. I would like to see what kind of advantages the WFT gives over a Possum Hollow trimmer, which I use in my .223 reloading.

Very accurate but leaves the cases scuffed. Big no-no for me, so I sold it.
