This lesson starts with a grounding and calming pranayama is a great foundational breath for any yoga practice. This breathing technique is healing for the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. It’s also wonderful for calming vata dosha by lowering vata, using the slow, steady breathing to and calm the mind and nervous system.
From there Ally flows into the 7 movements of the spine yoga flow which is a great yoga for beginners yoga classes. This is helpful yoga for back pain and is a breathe and flow yoga for the spine. This is a 12 minute yoga class with centring meditation and explores all 7 movements of the spine - elongation, rotation, flexion, extension and lateral flexion. These movements are great for good posture and helpful with flexibility. It’s a pratapana warm up for going into more asanas.
