This lesson starts with a grounding and calming pranayama is a great foundational breath for any yoga practice. This breathing technique is healing for the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. It’s also wonderful for calming vata dosha by lowering vata, using the slow, steady breathing to and calm the mind and nervous system.
From there Ally flows into the 7 movements of the spine yoga flow which is a great yoga for beginners yoga classes. This is helpful yoga for back pain and is a breathe and flow yoga for the spine. This is a 12 minute yoga class with centring meditation and explores all 7 movements of the spine - elongation, rotation, flexion, extension and lateral flexion. These movements are great for good posture and helpful with flexibility. It’s a pratapana warm up for going into more asanas.
In this 12 Minute breathing exercise with gentle yoga, Ally Boothroyd will guide you through some 3 part breathing which is also called full yogic breath. Ally teaches a 12 minute breathing technique to calm the nervous system. Dirgha Pranayama, the 3 part breath or full yogic breath has been scientifically proven to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and put you into calm, rest and digest state.

This 12 minute slow and gentle seated 7 movements of the spine is a great yoga class for back pain. This yoga warm up (pratapana) is wonderful for good posture and keeping the spine healthy and flexible. This includes an opening centring and calming meditation.
In this 12 Minute yoga class for spinal health, Ally Boothroyd will guide you through some the 7 movements (sometimes called the 6 movements) of the spine. Ally teaches a 12 minute yoga warm up with pranayama for keeping the spine flexible and strong.

I love Dirgha Pranayama! I am working on practicing each day, throughout the day, to help my body release hypervigilance. This practice helped me to integrate the 3-part yogic breathe while doing pratapana, in the embodiment of it rather than just intellectualizing it. Now I just have to remember to utilize Dirgha Pranayama while doing yoga asanas! I usually do Ujayii Pranayama during practice. #EmbodiedWisdom #MuladharaChakra #DirghaPranayama
