Thank you for you video :) I have raised 5 kids and loved hearing the little one in background and how classy you were in dealing with it. You put yourself out there to help others and there will always be some wanta-be shooting from peanut gallery. Thanks again :)
Thank you sooo much for taking the time to create and post this video. I found it awesomely helpful. Oddly, my new pressure cooker doesn't have a plain rice recipe so you have been a life saver.
I have found that the electric pressure cooker is superior to my older rice cooker in that it (a) works faster, (b) does not scorch the rice after it reduces itself to the "keep warm" setting, and (c) turns itself off automatically after a set time. I found the video quite helpful, as I am a fairly recent owner of an electric pressure cooker. Kudos to the young lady for making the video.
very good tips, but I do agree with some others about the little one's talking. You have a a great future in this and maybe even going to the Food Network, but get a babysitter and do it right.... Bless you.
Thank you for this. I just got a Deni 6.5qt pressure cooker and it mentioned using the rack which I am missing. Now because of your video, I can cook it without the rack. Thank you for taking the time to make this, I really do appreciate it.
I've had an electric pressure cooker received as a wedding gift from my sister after my partner of 41 years were finally able to get married. As for cooking rice, I'd dug it out of the pantry today. I've hardly used it preferring my T-fal stove top pressure cooker. So I used this recipe for a guide, Turned the Gowise pressure cooker onto brown setting, adding 2 TBSP butter to the insert. When the butter was hot, added 1 C long grain white rice with 1 tsp salt and a dash of white pepper. Stirred the rice in the butter for a minute or two. Added 1 ½ C of water and a couple of ounces of dry vermouth. Dry sherry is a good alternative. Let the water come to a boil. Sealed the lid and pushed the white rice button. It showed 8 minuted and it rapidly achieved pressure. It was allowed to reduce pressure on its own. The rice was cooked perfectly. Each grain separate and excellent flavour.
love your videos! i have the power pressure cooker pro which has great recipes but not basic things like just beans or just rice. anyone that has been around small children can hear you.
Ur a multi-tasking MOM altright! :) THX 4 remembering 2 mention the BASICS for us newbies. this is new to me but other posters clearly don't know how to TEACH. so i appreciate it & look forward to Ur other posts.
Hi, I got an electric pressure cooker from a friend and she didn't have the booklet so I started looking on "you tube" and found your video. How to use this pressure cooker for rice? It was very helpful. Thank you so much for helping people to learn how to cook in an electric pressure cooker without fear! Love the sound of your baby in the background!
Just got a pressure cooker for Christmas and have no idea how to cook in it. Thanks for the video on the rice. Some reason I have lost the ability to even cook rice on the stove, so hopefully the pressure cooker will let me cook rice again.. Look forward to other videos..
Thank you so much for doing this video! I was just about to go online to buy a rice cooker but wanted to see if there was another option. The crock pot method didn't work for me, but I have high hopes this will. Thanks again.
Great video, I am becoming a big fan of your channel. I have a pressure cooker and canner, I think I need one of these electric ones, seem very easy to use.
We are expecting a child and I was looking for all possible ways to make life easier when that little one comes around.. That said, the baby in the background resonates with me because that is part of the reason why I am here and why people use pressure cookers.. Time and convenience. Thanks for the info..
Good evening ma`am, thanks a lot for this useful video. I just cooked my rice perfectly after watching your video, Also God bless your little boy.... best regards / Kaisy
Thank you for adding the info about the oil. I would have eliminated the oil thinking it was unnecessary. Good to know. Have you had your pressure cooker for a few years?
Hello, I've been reading up on pressure cooking and one of the things that I noticed is when you are cooking rice or any starchy food, you should put some oil in the pot to help avoid foaming.
According to the manufacturer instructions-rinsing will not cut down on the foam. I wouldn't advise going against manufacturer instructions when it comes to any device, especially a pressure cooker.
Thanks for vid. i knoe you're cooking sticky rice, but have you made a vid on all types of rice, uses, cooking times, etc. thanks for your time, i know you're a busy mom.
Half the time or not, Pressure Cooker rice has better texture than stove cooked ride. Thanks for posting. Thumbs up for the baby. "Mommie let's gooooooo" 2cute.
Hi. Is the 1.5 cups of water for brown rice also? I have a rice cooker that I have used for years but am getting an electric pressure cooker. I am curious to see which is faster my rice cooker or the pressure cooker.
if you use a 3 qt or 6qt instant pot could you please specify. recipes do vary for each one because of size. could you please do a dry blackeye peas in a 3qt instant pot would really appreciate it.
Is the water/rice ratio the same with brown rice? Love your videos,& am a "subscriber" to new ones. Only comment would be to shorten the intro...I'm always in a hurry to watch and get started! :)
Hello! I have a question, today I cooked an stew and at the end when I released the pressure valvule it started to spill water with the pressure at the same time. It is normal? Thanks for your video!!!
Pressure raises the boiling point and allows you to cook at temperatures higher than 212F/100C. If your pot is still above this temperature when you release the pressure, the boiling point drops and the contents will immediately boil. If it is full enough, you can expect it to boil over.
White rice full pressure 3 minutes, brown rice 9 minutes. I actually use the same amount of water for brown and white rice. If you follow the pamphlet that comes with it your brown rice will be swimming in water.
Ha ha.. I thought about that too then I realized that it I can still apply some math despite being more than ten years removed from school.. Ratios.. And you don't believe it when they tell you that math will follow you for the rest of your life..
I have tried 15 mins but still not cooked but last evening i soaked the rice in hot water for 5 mins then i put in the pot on sear for 3 mins before pressure for 20 mins then i added milk cream and sugar on sear and it was best rice i have tasted. apart from no skin which i like but to get skin on the rice takes 2 hours in the oven
That does sound delicious. Differences in types of rice can make a difference as well as the kind of pressure cooker you are using. Glad you stuck with it to figure out what works for you.
I know my Cusinart Pressure Cooker can make rice, but I have a Panasonic electronic rice cooker that I do not have to attend. Just put the water, rice, oil, and any kind of spices, depending if I want yellow rice, brown rice, etc. I do not have to watch and the rice cookers does everything for perfect rice. Turns to warm. That is all.
Works great if you pay attention to instructions. ru-vid.comUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia For those that complain about "mushy" or "wet" rice I suspect they are using the included cup to measure rice (which is really only 3/4 cup) and then putting in water using a separate measuring cup that is a full cup. This results in too much water and you will get mushy or wet rice and think it is not done. Just use the included cup for both rice and water, or your own measuring cup for rice and water according to your package directions. It will come out fine. I've used mine for years for brown and white rice. If your machine is bubbling white froth out of the steam vent then it means you should have rinsed your brand of rice first to remove some of the starch. Sheesh. Makes me wonder how people can cook well enough to feed themselves.
very sweet and good info. I'll try it. btw you can tell all the people who have had kids, they think it's cute and all the childless urban sterile cat-loving people are annoyed by your child.
Perfectly said. I always wondered about why people can be so lame when others are just trying to do a simple helpful video. My kids are all grown and all have the most important thing and that is a kind empathetic heart.
I don't have kids yet but I plan to, and, yes, I thought it was cute but also hilarious, esp. when it got loud around @5:00. In fact, it got so loud that I hit pause to come down and see if anyone was discussing kids in the comments! :)
HI, i'm sterile (childless by choice) cat-loving (oh yeah) and mightily annoyed by psoriasis. I just adore shreiky children in instructional uploads. they're super cute and fascinating. i think the wee one was just teaching her mom about pacing in videos. "let's go!"
