Prison Soldiers Behind Bars | Prison Documentary Footage

Inside this maximum-security juvenile prison there's a special cell unit specifically for teen inmates who hope to transition into the military once they're released from prison. With less than 50 spots open in the "Future Soldiers Program", competition to be accepted is tough. The unit is known as a cellblock with many more privileges than other general population cellblocks, including wearing military fatigues instead of prison jumpsuits, and overall, a unit with little to no behavioral issues. In this behind-the-scenes raw footage, military officers who run the cellblock conduct cell inspections to make sure the teens are complying with the rules and commands of the unit. Cells must be spotless and beds perfectly made. Afterward, each teen is also inspected for uniform cleanliness and hygiene standards.

I was very impressed by the sheer difference in what the officers look for during inspection, between a military prison to a maximum security prison.

I think that this is a civilian juvenile prison, this program is just meant for kids who are given the chance to transition into the military after completing the program (i'd guess that if they successfully complete the program as well, they have their offenses scrubbed from their records and are connected with a military recruiter)

A lot of you guys are confusing this portion of the military prison from the main prison. These are juvenile offenders hoping to get into the military via a good behavior program. I was assigned prisoner escort duties "chaser" during my active duty. These inspections happen for a reason. The guards can instantly pick out anything out of place after seeing it enough times. I can still glance at a uniform and instantly see unfastened buttons or folds out of place. The difference in THIS place is the incentive to do well. Most don't have a "light at the end of the tunnel" and remain in despair.

I was in the navy for 7 years where I only knew of one person who spent a extended amount of time at the brig ( jail). At least, he was the only one who admitted to it. He got three months for stealing four cartons of cigarettes from the shipboard stores. He said everyday was longer than the day before. I was shocked at how small the brig was at Treasure Island San Francisco. The entire building was about 60x 100ft. I knew several others who got a day or two on the shipboard brigs but I never even knew what it looked like inside.

I never spent time on the shipboard brig but I did 25 days at the brig on base. After I got charged they flew me back to port (I was underway at the time). There was only 3 people total in the brig where I went. It was only one dorm one a 8 cell solitary confinement wing. It felt like basic training 2.0 in that all we did was clean and fold clothes repetitively. Have not changed much since getting released from the Navy but thankfully have never done any time in civilian jail. 👍

It's rare that the guys who came from jail programs, to actually succeed in the military. Typically, they bring their "baggage" with them and a lot of the same issues that got them in trouble before, will often times continue. I am a Navy veteran and retired Army 1SG. As a younger NCO, I had to escort problematic soldiers to a confinement facility. They had a program kinda like “scared straight”. I would watch them at the beginning as they were received. The problem with that was, that they knew it was a day or two. Lost some good soldiers to “off-duty” mistakes. Thankfully I never had a soldier that ended up in a confinement barracks. In Sandhofen, GE…the European confinement installation was located. I was stationed on that post in the 97th signal battalion NATO. Saw a guy in the chow hall one day escorted by two guards, with long hair and speaking perfect German. Word got around that he had raped a civilian in the mid-70’s and was just released from a German prison. He had to be outprocessed from the Army and that is why he was eating chow with us. Looked like a German and like a deer in the headlights.

Marines.and army are built for these kind of kids. A year of boot camp and three year commitment to serve and 8 years total inactive retainer would reduce crime

Even if this isnt actual adult military prison, The idea of having to signup for the military just to go to a special military prison is hilariously wasteful. Think about it, spending years of tax payer training just to end up in a special prison
@CalamariProductions
@CalamariProductions 6 месяцев назад
@AckzaTV - we should have clarified better. This is a unit inside a maximum-security juvenile prison. The prison has several different units (a mental health unit, a general population unit, the military unit, etc.). Once kids are placed at this prison they can apply to be accepted into this military unit. It's basically a cell block like every other cell block inside, but all the kids in this cell block are part of the military program where they operate on a slightly different schedule than the rest. They still eat in the same lunch hall, go to school in the same school building, etc. Thank you for watching and commenting.

THIS IS NOT A MILITARY PRISON! Freeze frame the video on the Officer's shoulder patch at the 8:54 mark... This is a juvenile boot camp, ran by the Indiana Department of Corrections.

@AHOOSIER - yes, it's a juvenile prison with a special unit called the "Future Soldier" unit.

As with my own UK there should not be prisons for military, if crime is that bad, its either discharge or civilian courts and prison.
@CalamariProductions
@CalamariProductions 9 месяцев назад
@jayceoldacre9702 - Thanks for watching this video. We should clarify that this isn't a military prison. This is a juvenile prison that has a program inside called "Future Soldiers." Kids who want a more structured environment that runs like a boot camp can apply to get into this unit after they've demonstrated good behavior in the prison's general population. Some of the kids hope to join the military after being released, so this program helps them experience what it might be like. Again, thank you for watching!

Military personnel can be sent to prison for the same reasons civilians can. They just go to a military prison like this instead of a regular prison.

hats off to the guy doing inspections, rather than be. prick, and. yell in fake anger, he explains to the guy how to sweep under a bed. ten he explains to all what u can not have, without yelling.. He probably has a ton of respect from the inmates, and the guy with the tooth brush in his mouth should have been smacked but he was sensitive to the person. These are kids, and he doing what a father would do, raise his children. these military guys must leave this prison as a better man because of the guy doing the inspections.
@CalamariProductions

@lancedalton6792 - Thank you for watching and pointing these things out. It's amazing how a little respect can go a long way inside places like this. Usually, if you show respect--even in very difficult circumstances--eventually kids will return the favor. It's not easy for anyone involved, but like you, we say hats off to those who go above and beyond to help make a difference. Thanks again for your comments!

You must have been a piss poor leader then. Probably a blue falcon too if you even served. You have NO CLUE what any of these kids did or what their backgrounds are, or if they even had parents or any kind of guiding hand before ending up here. This is their chance at a better future to succeed in life instead of being kicked while their down, which is what you wanna do apparently.

My ex husband should have been in prison! Senior Trial Council determined the evidence was to old to prosecute him. Just 8 months earlier I was in a cast. The year before in a neck brace. And he married the mistress! He was retired in 2019 as an 06. Also had me erased from his military record! So after 25 years. I had nothing and diagnosed with AML. 3 years later and a person who believed me finally went page by page and found me. Medical insurance back. That in of itself is a Federal crime.

The fact that at the end of the day, they're not soldiers. In addition, they couldn't even enlist if they wanted to. So it's all for nothing. Just an occasion to reminisce about when they're fully grown and get to go to an adult prison. Just another occasion for self hatred and humiliation.
