Process or Final Result? What is More Important? Many beginner artists get caught up in overthinking about many things, especially regarding the process of creating. In this video, I discuss my thoughts on the process and final result when it comes to creating art.

Today I have been my own worst critique! I used to draw but that was 30 odd years ago. In this lockdown (I am in the UK) I decided to treat myself and get graphite and colour pencils. I started to draw today and found myself doubting every stroke! For whatever reason I’ve just opened RU-vid and this video came up! It’s as if someone or something brought you to me to let me know that it’s actually fine how and what I’ve been drawing today. So I’d like to thank you for making me think outside my own head and know that all is okay with how I’m going. 🙏🌈😌

My opinion: The process is such a beautiful journey and helps people get inspired. The final result is the full creation and art child that you give life to using your gifts. It is like an artist is a God making something from nothing. The true gift of being an artist is the creation. You must always allow time for rest :) Great channel I love this stuff and plan to make my channel popping like this with my style. Each artist has their own unique gift. I am so happy to see how abundant and individual the artist community is on RU-vid. Everyone has something to offer. If you read this whole comment then you have got some great creative energy rolling thru you right now. Use it for your creations. Blessings to you!

I always felt that if I follow certain rules of the medium the frustration of the result is less
@SchaeferArt
@SchaeferArt 4 года назад
It's fine to follow rules, I believe I even said that in the video. It's when the rules become more of a hindrance than a help - then it's time to abandon them. That's all I was saying.

Man, u right, also Im seeing that most of this wannabe "coaching" of focus on the process, enjoy limitless, if you feel bad stop, etc... just leds to not finish good quality works... people who just spend too much time on the process, just get stuck there and never finish. Im seeing a lot of that these times.
@SchaeferArt
@SchaeferArt 4 года назад
I mean, the process is important for sure, and it's good to learn a few different methods and develop your own process but my main point was that recently I've gotten a lot of questions regarding so many things that I felt a lot of beginners weren't even starting to create anything because of their focus on process. They were too worried about doing it 'wrong', etc, rather than just creating and focusing on the final result. That's what my thinking was. But you have a great perspective as well on it.

nice little bird! Always a pleasure to watch your skills. I totally agree with you on this video. As you know our styles are quite different. I start out tying to paint loose but then the 'detail thoughts' enter my being and off I go! I have a process that works for me which is far from your process... so folks just need to go with what they feel! If you want to paint like someone else.. go to a workshop they have and see if that is the path you will follow! Once I started painting I thought my own 'style' wound never emerge... but if a person keeps painting their own style gets in there and you can look at a painting and know they did it. Sorry.. long comment. :) Peace! OH an in addition to what I just said.... for me there is ALWAYS a point where I think it needs to go in the trash can.... push past...there is a good painting in there. I've learned to tell the trash can NO!

This kid exactly where I am. Tutorial says use these watercolors, I buy them. There is only one way to get accurate proportions. I feel so boxed in.

If you learn to appreciate any process, you will learn to improve on it. And therefore one will have a much better understanding of how it was made.

Yes that is true no doubt. The process is important no doubt. And there's many ways or methods for a process. I was mostly referring to folks who don't even start anything because they're so afraid of 'doing it wrong' etc.. focused way too much on process rather than just creating and getting to the final result. The process will develop over time.

I definitely get where you’re coming from, but personally I don’t think it’s the best advice for beginners
@SchaeferArt
@SchaeferArt 4 года назад
Well I was mainly referring to beginners who are too afraid to even start because they're scared of 'doing it wrong' etc.. I've gotten a lot of those comments and questions before. So my point for this video was to say, don't worry about all those rules and etc.. of a certain process, and focus on what you want to achieve or create. Basically you will develop processes over time and figure it out. I may not have gotten my point across in the best way. And of course, this advice isn't going to be useful for everyone.

Rules for me are important in the initial phase of learning to get your feet on the road...after that .....its upto you.. maybe
@SchaeferArt
@SchaeferArt 4 года назад
It's different for everyone. Some folks just start creating and find their own processes as time goes on.

Process or fnal result? Depends, if I like my final result, that's the most important, if not it was the process....😎 Edit, nice bird, what species is it?
