@@simplysmart7291 Her lyricism just screams Taylor. One thing that just told me this could easily be a lyric Taylor wrote is "she laughs at the jokes I made"
Just notice how driver’s license was aiming towards sadness, Deja vu was aiming towards jealousy, and her newest single good 4 u was aimed towards anger.
There is no jealousy. She is just noticing that her ex has a type because his present GF also dresses like her, behaves like her and they do the same things together.
You gotta respect the massive risk she took with "Deja Vu." Following up on the massive hit that was "Drivers License" with a song that takes on a completely different style is the riskiest move I've ever seen a new artist make, and I'm glad she was able to make it work!
i agree, after ‘driver’s license’ i had high expectations but at the same time i didn’t know what she would give us. she definitely did a great job to me.
I agree too . if anyone's not, this is not the official music video of Olivia Rodrigo, this is the reaction video, so if you don't expect reaction you're watching the wrong video.
exactly! taylor swift is the mom, lorde is that cool aunt and olivia is the kid lmao i think their styles complement each other nicely when put together in a playlist, it's great
I think one she did that was so smart is her second single is totally different in style but follows on naturally in terms of storytelling. So it has that connection to draw people in but shows she can do a lot of different styles.
Oliva and her producer (Dan Nigro) are the best duo since peanut butter and jelly. Blake, I went through Dan's discography. I can recommend some unknown gems if you're interested.
@@nimmi7526 check out dan nigro genius credits, and look thru his instagram My faves Chappel roan - love me anyway Rl grime- ucla Ashe - choirs Empress of- when im with him Lo moon- for me its you Caroline polachek- hot hot ur hurting my feelings Carly rae jepsen- when i needed you
the fact that he paused the video at the end because he thought it was starting over again, is the whole purpose of Deja vu. I don't know why I find it so cool... lol
she brings back the billy joel thing in the bridge, so she still carries billy joel through, and she also has a very good imaginative writing like painting a picture in her lyrics. the start and the end are the same and at the end, it’s the other girl driving away, not olivia
Yeah the entire bridge is a deja vu of what we've just listened to; the strawberry icecream, trading jackets, Billy Joel. She even reiterates it's all reused (from the earlier verses). It's an incredibly clever way to reinforce the theme of the song. Fantastic songwriting.
Oh man, the so called prediction is just recalling the A/B/A/B/C structure. When he 'predicted" the "something dynamic" = drumbeat after the intro is just exactly after 32 bars. Like millions of productions.
I think she goes slow again at the end and back to the calm beginning as if she just had a breakdown/she just released everything at once and now she is okay again. I love her storytelling 💗
Blake: “One of the coolest things that you kind of have the opportunity to do as a producer is to take someone’s lyrics and then create an atmosphere around those lyrics.” Olivia & Daniel Nigro: “Hold our strawberry ice cream.”
Love when you break down the production because it makes me differentiate the sounds like I didn’t even realize the drums until you said it and it made the song so much better after I noticed
Someone mentioned the whispered “I love you” in between the chorus and the verse after she sang “I bet you even tell her how you love her in between the chorus and the verse” and now I can’t un hear it, and I love it
Fun fact: When Olivia sings "I bet you even tell her how you love her in between the chorus and the verse. When the chorus plays, you can hear a quiet "I love you" in there.
The bridge reminds me of taylor swifts cruel summer when she screams "I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you" and also " i love you aint that the worst thing you ever heard? " but anyhow the song was amazing but i can say that drivers license is still superior
I've been waiting for your reaction of Deja Vu since it's release.Thank you so much for uploading this reaction video. I've never been this early,Yayyyyy.
I'm not gonna lie, watching your videos has piqued my interest in music theory. I've actually started working with a music theory major to work on my own understanding. I just find it so fascinating!
fun fact! after she says the line about saying i love you in between the chorus and the verse, you will hear her faintly whisper i love you which falls in between the chorus and the verse. talk about talented song writing lmao
I love that this 2nd song continues her story. She's building a narrative and taking everyone along for the car ride hehe! Also the bells at the beginning remind me of an ice cream truck jingle and I wonder if that was the intent since she says ice cream right away in the first verse
Lyrics remind me of want u back by Cher Lloyd and the sound is like cruel summer by Taylor swift! Did you catch the “I love you” whisper between the chorus and verse like she mentioned? :)
Thank you very much! If you could check out the album OK ORCHESTRA by AJR that would be amazing! They put a ton of production in their songs and I know there will be parts that blow you away. Thanks
