As some people have mentioned EXO is more of a vocal group howevever their choreography is complex because it can be hard hitting then slow and smooth then fast pace all within one song plus they have to be hitting them high notes. Many rookies and other idols have danced to their songs and they always end up out of breath at the end. Favourite dances are Oh La la la, lucky one, Electric kiss, growl, Blooming day

Here is some information that might help you to understand the choreography for EXO's "Monster" better. All the pieces of the choreography were designed to help tell a story. So if you know what you are looking for you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. If you follow EXO, then you know that the whole concept of the group is that they are supposed to be aliens who are from Planet Exo, and they were sent to Earth on a mission. Each of the members of EXO have a superpower that is unique to them and almost everything that EXO is involved in is part of their storyline and concept. In "Monster" the choreography has been designed to tell their story and it uses elements of their dance to represent several of the members using their powers. D.O. has the power of earth (dirt) which gives him super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. Also if you notice, at the end when they say "creepin', creepin', creeping," the dance move they are doing is called The Creep, from the iconic 1990s American girl group TLC, which was created for TLC's song "Creep."

the dancer's face you wanted to see is kai, one of the best dancers in kpop! he's actually known for his facial expressions and stage presence, so i hope you'll check out more stuff from them to see him in his full form!

Every time he'd say "simple" I kept having a flashback of that one time I tripped over myself while standing absolutely still. 😅

Thanks for the reaction. As stated by others, EXO is more vocally centered but what makes their dance moves so different is their unique choreo. The have lots of formation changes, quick-slow moves and their choreo is not always fast. You'll see that when a member sings a specific part, the choreo usually highlights the one singing and have the others move instead. EXO also tries to incorporate their concept into many of their songs. According to their concept, EXO is from outer space and each member has a unique superpower. I've listed a few examples to show just how clever the choreo really is. At 8:45 the member on the far left controls earth/force so he pushes/forces the others to turn. At 9:38 in the Monster video, you see one guy being pulled and then the other members turn their backs and move according to that one member. That's because Suho controls water and it's as if Suho is controlling the members in a fluid manner i.e. waves. At 10:07 you see one member in the middle while the others go around him in a circle and that's because the guy in the middle, Sehun, controls wind. At 11:49, you see one guy standing and he makes the others on the floor stop moving except the last guy on the right. That's because Xiumin controls frost and is freezing the others except for the last guy who never froze. That's because dude on far right controls fire so isn't frozen. The part where EXO is on the floor turning, they're turning counter-clockwise to indicate turning back time. These are just a few examples in "Monster." You may enjoy EXO's "Growl" which is an older MV but is a ONE-TAKE MV. It took the guys about 7 attempts and even then it still had mistakes. I agree that exo is a mainly vocal focused group, but please do consider their older songs where they had 12 members. I would highly suggest Overdose, Wolf, and MAMA. EXO is more of a vocal centered group so their choreo isn’t normally the most intense, but of course they still have many amazing pieces. I think Obsession is pretty good as well.

Yep, u choose the right choreography to react. This is indeed one of the best choreography ever of Kpop (if not the best one in my opinion). I am not fan of Exo but when i saw this, i was totally mesmerized.

You should checkout ASTRO, Ateez, Seventeen, GOT7 and Stray Kids! I think you'll love their choreography!! A few I suggest would be Seventeen's Getting Closer, Pretty U, Don't Wanna Cry, and Thanks. Ateez' Pirate King, Wonderland, and Wave. GOT7's Lullaby, Fly, and You Are. Stray Kids' Gods Menu and Victory Song. ASTRO's Baby, All Night, and Again.

Fun fact - their choreography has a lot to do with their power concept that EXO has. You can read about it on google because it is rather long. But for choreo : for example DO has the power of earth and his moves are oriented to pull the other members in with gravity and you can see in the video he does that a few times. Lay also uses his healing power on SUHO as they transition to the second verse right after the first chorus EXO uses their concept throughout all their MV’s and many choreographies are set keeping in Mind their concept and powers. Even in monster their are a few more people using their power.

I admit, I've only just found you. Mostly because of your EXO reaction videos. And I'm most interested in seeing your thoughts on the chorography of EXO's Sing For You. It's not your normal high-paced perfect unison. The chorography and matching between the Chanyeol/Suho fight and Kai dancing is brilliant to my eye. I'm interested to see what a professional thinks.

I see a lot of people saying they are vocal oriented group. Which is true because they are the best the music industry around the world has if I may say. However they are also a heavily focused rap and dance group. Their dances are rather hard and complex, because they don’t do big moves, they are rather focused on smooth and small movements that people can’t catch up to. EXO also has few of the best dancers in the industry, Kai, Lay and Sehun being the main dancers in the group and role models to the entire industry. You should definitely checkout more of their dances as group and as individuals

One of the things that drew me to kpop were actually the choreographies! There's lots of great ones out there. If you want to look have a look at more different groups I'd suggest Monsta X for their more hard hitting feel (Shoot Out or Alligator) or Seventeen (Don't Wanna Cry or Hit) for their incredible synchronicity. Or for solo work Taemin's Move (or Criminal, if you want to get very up-to-date). In any case I hope you enjoy whatever you watch next! ;)

EXO is well known for being a vocal group but their choreography is often over looked, however some of their members are known for being really talented dancers within the kpop industry.
