The 6 Star also has Beta-Alanine and creatine. It is also very cheap for what you get. The Balm Pop flavor taste great. For the servings you get and price point you can not beat it. No it's not the BEST but it's cheap, great tasting, and I like it. I have tried others and most are nothing special. Plus I can add to it other things if I so choose. Like more creatine, cit, and ammino acids.
PROTIEN POWDERS: Whey protien ..fast absorbing "Isopure" 4:03 Plant based protien ... meal replacing "Vega" 6:36 Collagen Protien (not a complete protien)... "Vital protien" 7:08 PRE WORKOUT: (basically all have artificial sweeteners in them) "Muscle pump" 18:19 (just make your own with this) 18:32 "Jekyll & Hyde" 19:43
The incomplete protein concept has long since been debunked. That’s just something people throw around to promote the status quo I guess bc ppl love animal products and don’t want to accept an alternative is just as good (and better health wise). Which makes little sense to me it’s not as if you’re gonna stop using animal products if that’s what you enjoy. Low amino acid numbers only matter when you either aren’t consuming a lot of food, after you’ve consumed so much you’ll have met the daily requirement of that amino acid. And it doesn’t even have to be consumed within the same time frame, just has to be within the same day. This is totally ignoring the fact we’re eating a variety of foods which make up for the amino acids each other are lower in. Studies that get stuff like 40% more digestibility from animal protein are ones measuring what happens when you have 1 serving of food. Idk what the name of the study was but there’s a recent one where they measured a practical amount and found eggs or milk at 89%, plant 91%, and eggs or milk at 95% digestibility. Implying if you’re going for a specific number you might have to add a little bit extra grams to hit no matter what you’re eating
To be fair, that iso 100 is the limited edition fruity pebbles flavor 😅 Also you must keep serving size in mind when choosing proteins! That Isopure protein is $20 for 16 servings. ON gold standard is much higher rated and although they did change their formula lately, is a lot cheaper with 6 extra servings you get that definitely adds up.
@@GourmandGirlie I sometimes only use protein powder and milk, and sometimes blend the powder with milk, banana, oat, peanut butter, greek yogurt together. I heard a lot of people like fruity pebbles flavor but do you think fruity pebbles would still taste good if I add it to the blend?
if u wanna eat super clean and healthy u gotta pay. there is no way around that. WHAT do u value in lofe? car, home projects, fashion? put all ur money into health instead
a little trick i learned is to take the amount of protein per serving and divide it by the serving size. if it comes out to the 70% and up mark then that's apparently a very decent ratio and you're not needing to use a huge amount to reach the amount of protein stated; and you're not wasting money.
Thanks for your detailed analysis of many of the shelved protein products at Walmart! Don't forget that egg whites are a very good source of protein too! There is liquid egg whites people can buy for convenience if they don't like busting open raw eggs. BTW, I have stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease and since I urinate out much of my protein, I need to eat/drink quality proteins but ideally, non-animal based proteins so I was happy to see there was a plant-based protein available.
Try AppliedNutrition Iso-Xp whey protein isolate . 93.5% protein . No soy , no fat , no carbs , zero sugar . It’s number one in the UK . I’m sure you can find it on Amazon
Man, I can't thank you enough for how informative this is for the every day consumer. I currently use Raw Organic Meal from Garden of Life. No hemp, unfortunately, like you recommended for the pea protein, but at least it doesn't have the artificial sweeteners. Keep up the good work.
As someone who’s lactose intolerant, Muscle Milk makes the most sense to me mainly cause it has all the milk proteins without milk. The savings difference between it and IsoPure and all the rest is negligible. + I don’t use protein shakes that often so I won’t care about the high calories.
@Violett Fem I’d expect for a woman to say that, lol, I had an ex who absolutely adored it, but even she- … well, nah, she’d love it 😂🤦🏽♂️, but I have absolutely NO use for ANY damn glitter, especially while trying to build muscle
Thanks Thomas, great video and great information! I was just hitting you up on your Instagram DM about Walmart protein too. 70 pounds down since January and you’re a big reason for my continued life changing success. Love your due diligence and attention to detail. Hats off to you good sir!
If a product says 0 sugar, better read the ingredients. Some products use artificial sweeteners, that I avoid . So read what is in the product you buy .
The Dymatize ISO100 has to be the best tasting protein powder available. Especially their chocolate flavor. The Fruity Pebbles flavor he looked at had all the artificial colors and glitter stuff, but the normal flavors don't have all those. Even then, it says on the label "less than 1%". So you have to take into account, that it is just a very tiny amount of "bad" stuff. If flavor is not a concern for you, then he's right, you can't beat the ISOpure for clean protein powders. But you will pay a bit more for no flavor. Just up to personal preference.
It mixes very well. Some cheaper powders can clump up or feel grainy but ISO100 is very smooth and blends completely. Also, since it is hydrolyzed, it is easier to digest. While other types of whey protein can cause digestive distress. I've had no problems with the ISO 100. Also the hydrolyzed whey protein is absorbed faster than other whey proteins. Then you can get into recovery quicker after a work out.
If you don’t want to use powder use veggies with high protein. I mix frozen green peas frozen blueberries dark chocolate almond milk and blend. Delicious
I love these videos too they are great! I would also love to see something about the best products out there, not just what you can get at Walmart or a chain store! I understand why these videos necessary of course but I think it would be great for those of us who try not to shop at the big box stores. I have some great health food stores in my area but they are packed with so many different products it's hard to pick out the best ones!
So basically dont drink pre workouts…just have some coffee…Arnold and Ferrigno say the same thing. And as for Isopure…I need flavor…whats something healthy to mix with it?
Can we get your opinion on garden of life protein? It’s another plant based one sold at Walmart but for some reason they hide it away in another section in the pharmacy. Was hoping it was included in this video but I totally understand why you missed it.
I really appreciate these types of videos! They are so helpful. I’m clean Keto and have read that Sucralose is fine. Can you please tell us why you don’t approve? I’m not arguing, I’m asking for education :) I don’t want to sabotage my clean WOE. Also, if you could, when you cover several items can you either put up your ‘Thomas approved’ picture on all items you approve or set them up together at the end of the video? I hope that’s not asking too much, but when you cover a wide variety of products I appreciate it so much, but sometimes it’s hard to remember which ones you approved. Thank you for everything you do :)
I used to have the same issue especially at the speed he goes lol Now I use the pause button and write down his recommendations on a pad of paper. Works very well and I end up with a list that I take with me Cheers
Preworkout: EVL : Tastes like Blue Raspberry Sour patch kids. Hands get cold. Noticeably list more. Set aside 30minutes before heading to the gym for sitting on the toilet. SixStar : Walgreens brand. Several flavors, not bad. Half the scoop size of EVL. Works okay. Less poop prep time. Muscletech (not the one in this video) : Worked well, tasted good, quick poop and go. Protein : Optimal Nutrition ON : Only protein that blends perfectly when shaken. Even when there was a missing bag of it found 5 years later. ISO : Had too much sugar for my to try. BPI : Mixed decently when shaken. Premier protein Drink : Taste good, drank it fast didn't seem to make a difference.
My favorite protein remains in the the woods. It sure requires work to bring it in and process, but it's a labor cycle, and you know that doe was eating healthy, foraged vegetation, especially because we don't bait. The rabbit, the squirrel, possibly they got into the neighbors' vegetable plot. Still healthier than food industry waste. But I am so grateful for this video. My favorite supplemental protein is from the cold case; chew a prenatal vitamin, chew long and hard on the best beast obtainable, bison and gizzards being among the few purchased protein in our diet here.
@@a.booyaah8498 You also. Hunting is my favorite season! Not only do I get to dress up super fancy, I get to make regular random phone calls to wake my son, and then I get to feed him right and proper, and he doesn't even care that eggs and butter basted meat is healthy! Every year he gains muscle and needs a new belt for Christmas.
Just found this video... thanks so much. Ive been standing on the walmart supplement aisle trying to figure out which protein powder is the best so this is perfect. Thanks.
Studies have shown that the difference between whey protein concentrate vs isolate are immaterial. The only reason to pay the $ for isolate is if concentrate gives you digestive issues.
Optimum nutrition is not #1 in the world , Amazon helps the company get ranked high cuz Amazon can make a lot of money . It’s not high in protein . always check the nutritional information per 100 g not per serving . Check this one AppliedNutriotion ISO-XP whey protein isolate. Per 100 g --> 93.5 g of protein . 100% from grass-fed cows .
I use Crazy Nutrition Mass Gainer. They have both chocolate and vanilla flavors which are both delicious actually. It's very easy on the stomach and the results have been undeniably incredible. I've been making steady gains consistently since I've started taking it.
Do you have a video about gym etiquette? I want to learn how to walk around the gym with a gallon of water occupying 5 machines at once all while grunting like a dying gazelle on an African Safari.
I feel bad now I use the amino bcaa and I take the protein in the bag and mass gainer with decent results. I need help now lol. I’m thinking about adding creatine also. That’s why I’m here. Been browsing RU-vid.
He couldn't film this in my Walmart which is in the middle of Orlando. There would be a thousand people bumping into him and walking in and out of the video. WM's here are a madhouse.
Thank you Thomas, Another great and informative video. Question: have you or any of your subscribers heard of Ka’Chava: a nutrient-dense meal protein powder. I have been seeing a lot of their commercials lately, and wondering if anyone has tried it or knows more about it. Is it any good or just another new gimmick powder.
Yes, I have and it's something like muscle milk just fewer calories. if you are looking to bulk up it would be a good meal replacement to use. it's very flexible but you have to blend it. it's not like regular protein powders. if you don't have time for breakfast in the morning that might be a good way to go, the only issue is that it can be expensive.....
I had a feeling that you were going to bust open C4 as well. I use C4 Sport regularly and it does have sucralose and blue #1 but it also has creatine monohydrate, beta alanine and other pre workout essentials. One scoop of that in my water 30 minutes prior to my workout makes me super strong. We're talking a difference of 20 additional reps that I would not be able to do without the supplement. I bought a tub of it at CVS on discount and only paid $13 and some change. It's worth every dime for the results I get. The only downside that I noticed is that it will raise your blood pressure sometimes. I only intend to use it for a limited time until it runs out and I maximize my gains. It's working very well so far and I like what I'm seeing in the mirror.
i use c4 sport, i bought it at costco, 26$ for 45 servings, super cheap, high energy. yes it has all those ingredients but they would be good if thy were in amounts to actually work. beta alanine, has to be 3.6g for max results, if you see a pre workout with 3.6 grams you can know they are science based and a good trusting point, creatine, the creatine is unnecessary as its probably just a filler, low quality/ potency. another con is the energy has no focus to combat it, my adhd just goes nuts when i take it, no feelings of the muscles contracting, less burn= less gains.
I use the orgain protein because they sell it at my grocery store and whey slides through me quick. I'm 19 and have only worked out for almost a year, I have a 315 deadlift, 235 squat, 155 bench and I gained 19lbs from eating like a animal and drinking the orgain protein. I don't take anything else. I'm 6foot and weight 175lbs. I recommend orgain protein if you're looking for something super healthy and organic.
Thomas not being very honest here Sure you say sweeteners like sucralose and acesulfame spike insuline but whey concentrate and isolate do exactly the same, so if you buy whey protein without sucralose you just waste the extra money Cause the effect will be the same
Thank you. Walmart is the only place close to where I live to get any protein powder etc. And I always question myself about getting the best one and most effective and healthy one. Thank you. I subscribed to your channel today.
I remember when i first started training in 84 and i the only place that you could buy the supplement's that you saw in M&F were at a gym . Maybe a couple of Weider products at a pharmacy.
Last night I was looking online to purchase one and realized most of these have some type of artificial sweeteners like acesulfame potassium & sucralose, which I unfortunately am allergic to (migraines). I was able to purchase one from the Optimum Nutrition brand which usea cane sugar & stevia extract. Just an FYI for anyone else out there with the same requirements.
i just entered the protein shake world yesterday doing a bunch of research before making my selections thanks for the info!!!! i will be getting the dymatize iso100 mocha latte flavor and the vega vanilla flavor.. ur awesome thanks again
So thankful he does this because when i read some of the items the words get scrambled an somethings I just dont understand why so much other stuff is in it
Creatine is so good for aggressive cutting, it keeps you going when on a serious caloric deficit , used it to drop weight a while ago and I remember being able to work just fine with very little in my stomach
From first hand experience: After switched to casein protein powder instead of why, I'm see more results and progress in my exercises. Can only speak from my own experience.
Its the laugh for me at the end of the video. You are an amazing human being. You are helping so many people and you don't charge for your knowledge. I literally gag when I see the artificial sweeteners in the labels. You have me reading everything.
Good day Thomas. My family truly appreciates the high informational break-downs you give for Keto and Nutrition. I was wondering if you could do a review on OWYN products. The regular and Elite shakes. The Cold Brew shake and the Protein Powder's. Please and thank you.
Best fat burner ever made was the original Oxyelite Pro. Too bad its no longer the same after DMAA was banned. That stuff got me from a waist size 42 down to a 32 in a very short amount of time.
I love core power drinks but if you go by Tom’s standards it contains Acesulfame potassium or Ace k and Sucralose which are no good, especially if fasting or doing Keto because they spike insulin. Ace k is the bigger problem with insulin spikes but studies show that Sucralose destroys your good gut bacteria. At least that’s what he says in his energy drink video.
I usually enjoy many of Thomas DeLauer's videos but I'm calling BS here. Unless you're someone who is ultra carb or lactose sensitive, a quality whey protein concentrate is more than sufficient to meet the needs of the overwhelming majority of ppl. A good whey protein concentrate will yield as much as 80% protein by volume. Whereas the typical whey isolate undergoes further filtration to yield just above 90% . Far from being cost effective to spend nearly double for an extra 10% over and above what you would get with a quality wpc. Not to mention that the continued filtration process used to create isolate can denature the enzyme bioactivity and alter the peptide structure of the protein.
Can you let me know what brand you buy? There’s a lot out there.I’ve been trying w get lean by lifting weights everyday. But having trouble putting on muscle. I eat 4 eggs everyday after my fast.
