It helps to know the chords! Sometimes it's nice to know the theory (light amounts) behind the chords, too, as it'll make figuring out which songs need which chords that much easier. It'll increase your musical ""vocab"" which also makes it easier to discuss songs and parts with other players (dulcimers or any instrument!). And it's fun.
You could sure skip to the Part 2, but I think at least giving this a once over would be helpful context. (Pt2: • Pt.2 Learn Stick Dulci... )
