I had so much fun over these 8 days in Puerto Vallarta back in October. I was surprised to see how many conservation efforts were present in and around the city. It's fortunate that these tropical lands are being taken care of by the wonderful volunteers and organizations in the area.
The tour of the Marietas Islands was especially impressive to me. The tour guides were strict about not allowing anyone in the water (including paddle boarding or kayaking) after applying sunscreen to protect the coral reefs. This area has been badly damaged after a recent surge of tourists visited the area following social media posts that brought attention to the incredible natural beauty of the islands.
It was an action-packed week full of delicious food, friendly locals, and unbeatable nature. I hope to be back someday!
