#starwars #swtor #sith Episode 16 If you only knew the power of the light side, Master Jedi. Star Wars The Old Republic - Sith Warrior Sith Marauder - Annihilation Discipline Huta Discord - / discord
Storywise, most sith would see the embracing of the light as weakness and work to purge it. Hence hiding it because even if you COULD take them all on as mercy is not weakness but a measure of true strength, you'd just have zero free time.
@@TheValentineEnemy problem is the lore has been murky about it, and highly depends on the writer. Since this is bases on TOR series Force Choke and Lightning would be weaker if you are light side. This inconsistency is why Disney decided to basically move all lorepiece like this to Legends. To which Disney ruined the whole consistency right after with their own stories, of course.
@@HendyVelarius It really makes no sense for force choke to be weaker. That's the same as moving something with the force. It only makes sense that Jedi simply don't use it. I always figured it was because those kinds of moves that cause your opponent to suffer aren't in line with Jedi philosophy. Not because they can't do them.
with my limited lore understanding i hypothesise that it's more about the intention of the force power which decides where it gets the power from. a choke or death by lighting is a rather tortures method, fueld by emotions of anger and harming others, while moving objects or using force lightning to protect yourself has a completely different intention behind it. also we do see jedi using dark force related emotions and succeding (like obi wan against darth maul or anakins force chokes in the clone wars) which makes sense since both sides are always present in both jedi and sith, just to a different development
@@georgigs I saw the sith warrior tell LS Jaesa that Baras will gain a new brother in Karr after suggesting they hand him over and she said dark side lines when healing not sure if that's a glitch or something
I always choose light side options exclusively with the Jedi and jeesa just to confuse the shit outa them and straight evil with everyone else and you eventually brain wash her to believe doing evil is sometimes good and that’s ok starting by making her kill her master it’s hilarious
@@sancturillore it’s been a while but I basically made myself like a grey character ruthless and violent but also talk your way out of situations and u kinda convince her that the sith and the jedi are wrong and your the only one with the true answers she basically pledges to you not the sith or the dark side when she uses her powers to read your character she’s just confused as fuck she goes your ruthless and violent but also kindness and maybe even empathy she just finds you to complicated to be good or evil so just accepts that your both
Can we talk about how willingly the Sith Troopers just went along with this? Like, they could all be slaughtered for delivering a prisoner to the enemy for no reason other than, "The nice red guy asked us to."
As it turns out for most individuals, happy Sith are even more frightening then the regular dark, brooding and massive asshole Sith. As a happy Sith, you genuinely dont know what's going on in their head.
@@michelveilleux1275 reminds me of a Krogan in Mass Effect 2, he's the only Krogan in the series who says things like "have a nice day" He is genuinly the scariest Krogan in the series, besides maybe the genocidal maniac Wreav but that's only because if you cure the Genophage with him in charge you're solidifying a couple hundred years of war
@@spacejesus6581 In the case of that Krogan, it's not he himself that's scary. It's what and who he represents that has made him so polite and affable.
In no way has a Jedi been more soundly defeated than in this moment. Turned to the dark side under his own choices and power, hypocrisy exposed, ruled by emotion, and a dogma that blinds to the truth. Despite all belief to the contrary, this Sith embodied everything he was supposed to be yet stands in opposition. I like to think that The old Republic had glorious moments like this in canon .
2 days ago I started a bounty hunter. After killing 3 people I already got sith eyes. But my sith warrior that has murdered half galaxy and is the wrath of the emperor still doesn't have sith eyes. I think my bounty hunter is the sith lord we've been looking for.
Have the companions go to skill related missions but have yourself in the alignment you choose, that's how I became light side quickly or darkside without choosing dark options in dialogue. Realized that with my sith inquisitor. That or you have "show corruption" off in character sheet .
A Light Sided Sith is basically the embodiment of Paarthurnax's quote : "What is better? to be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?" Edit : Woaw it's doing numbers x)
Love Lightside Sith Warrior, just the sheer confusion by the Jedi is worth it everytime. I have yet to do a LS Sith Inquisitor, the temptation of frying idiots with lightning is too good to pass up.
And shows the hyprocracy of the Jedi with Norman Karr as shown in SF Debris's playthrough. Like they can't accept the idea of a Sith being noble and honorable instead of a mustache-twirling villain and the Jedi frequently break their word.
In some cases it is possible, like killing a cultist pureblood Lord, since it is not considered as Dark side option, but a neutral one, as some more choices, which I tend to use when I kinda wanna kill some people, but don't, also I May be full lightside and Zero dark side points, due to me always choosing loyal to the Empire options, thus still being viewed as a quite loyal to Empire Sith.
"To walk among Sith and not be discovered is an incredible challenge." - said in front of one of many zealous Imperial troopers who are loyal to the Sith, as he tells the troopers to report to the Jedi Council with a Jedi prisoner
To be fair I'd think the troopers would assume he's lying about the whole being a lighthearted sith lord in order to convince the target, either that or they aren't paid well enough to care.
@@andrewmcclean823 Imagine how difficult it'd be to not react and pretend you know absolutely nothing about anything the Sith are talking about so they don't kill you for knowing too much, or torturing you to find out what you know about a rival.
The jedi that does not forsake their humanity and the sith that rejects power for the sake of power. These stories are always infinitely more interesting than the ones of the evil sith vs the benevolent jedi.
Sith are more honest people. Most of them are selfish, power hungry, sadistic and they do not lie about it to themself. To others however, they tend to lie a lot. The Jedi believes in temperance and restraint. But some ended up concealing their emotions and sensibilities, as well as refuse to acknowledge their flaws and desires.
@@edwardtanujaya9786 yes, many Jedi have the problem of just hiding away in their temple and letting the world burn. This happened during the mandalorian wars. So a bunch of Jedi deserted and joined the military to fight.
@@Nyrufa Only very few Sith master their emotions. Most of them simply let their emotions direct their decisions. Thats the opposite of controlling them. THEY are getting controlled BY their emotions. It also requires no self discipline, which is why the dark side often gets described as "quicker" or "easier". It's easy to just let your emotions flow.
@@kommentier9884 From what I understand about the lore, the Sith do not mindlessly give themselves over to passion and emotions. They train to focus their emotions, drawing upon them to fuel their connection to the force. Force Rage places the user in a state that blocks out pain and fatigue, while enhancing their physical attributes considerably. In order to use Force Lightning, the wielder must fully embrace the dark side within themselves, and then subjugate it to their will. That's why Force Lightning is supposed to be one of the highest level techniques a Sith is capable of using. And it's why nobody who follows the Jedi code would ever be able to use it. The Jedi constantly underestimate the Sith as beings who are undisciplined and foolish. Yet the Star Wars franchise is constantly depicting the Jedi as being deceived or even outright defeated by them on numerous occasions. If the Jedi are supposed to be wiser and more disciplined than the Sith, then why are they constantly being defeated by these short cut taking barbarians?
@@Nyrufa in my opinion both Sith and Jedi are on the wrong. The former are their true self but fall victim to their emotions. The Jedi on the other hand are too bureaucratic and fake with their beliefs. It is not weird why some of the most evil and powerful Sith are former Jedi who got fed up with the fake enlightenment. The true path of the Force is to be yourself and not bureaucrat following laws, but also have control over your emotions and your actions. Even the new Star wars movies would be better if at the end instead of: {SPOILER ALERT} Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order, she and Kylo both survived, and created a "school " that teaches both the way of the Dark and Light side aka the way of the Force.
@@kommentier9884 though I would argue that mastering your emotions is an even greater challenge then suppressing them. Very much like a tech priest in Warhammer 40k who can choose to allow themselves to feel emotions to help with thought process (like fear to make decisions with caution instead of flatly) Though I think it also works both ways but ultimately sith are more powerful and a sith who's mastered their emotions is nigh unstoppable
"Your actions reflect only light. You appear to be an agent of the dark side, but it is only a mask". I feel that this line shows how Jaesa, as well as the majority of force users on both ends of the spectrum, seemingly still misunderstand the true purpose of the sith. The dark side promotes freedom, ambition, and that its users embrace their anger. It is easy to see how such a list of values could be perverted to bring violence and mindless destruction, but it need not be a tool of evil. Valuing freedom can also mean valuing and fighting for the freedom of others(Including their freedom to live) rather than effectively meaning you get to do whatever you want, and anger isn't inherently a bad thing either. Anger and discontentment are the fuel for nearly all change in society; it can mean barbaric rage and senseless violence and hatred, but it can also mean being rightfully outraged at blatant injustice. The republic banned slavery only on paper, and it was still openly practiced in many parts of the galaxy. And the Jedi order absolutely knew this, and did nothing about it. Righteous anger can root out corruption and impurity, and the strength it gives you can be wielded to break the chains of oppression and tyranny. It is a tragedy that this righteous interpretation of the sith ways, which I wholeheartedly believe to have been their original purpose, is seemingly all but forgotten by the galaxy at the time of the starwars movies. I see LS SW not necessarily as a follower of the light side trying to deceive the sith by hiding amongst them, but as a lith lord who embraces these original meanings.
I 100% agree, the sith bad reputation must be due to the folllwing scenarios: 1-way too many people following the sith code to be free and do whatever they want without any care for morality or law. 2- someone twisting the sith ways in order to promote their ideals and goals so siths follow the dark side of the force
Being a real sith is about pursuing power to protect the ones you care and achieve your goals, you can have boundaries but the most sith doesn't had it. Look to Lana Beniko speaking with the paraguai Plo Koon.
I love this explanation and this is why I believe Revan willingly chose to ‘fall’ and embrace the dark side in the beginning. He couldn’t just sit back and watch the Mandalorians destroy innocent worlds while the Jedi did nothing. The only issue is once you start down the ‘dark’ path it’s easy to forget the reasons why you ‘fell’ in the first place and selfless can slowly become selfish. “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions”
I never understood why it seems like it has to be all-or-nothing. To be human is to experience both passion and serenity. To give into passion is to burn out like a candle lit at both ends. To surrender to serenity is to flee from the world itself, to stagnate like a still pond slowly becoming overrun by algae. Nature shows us that it's a living-breathing thing, and also that the living, breathing things in it will always use whatever advantage they can find to seek food, shelter, and procreation. In other words, nature is both life and a tool. So, too, would be the Force. Tangentially related, I think the reason most Sith fear the concept of a "Light Sith" is because it would be possible for such a being to overthrow them with a power they can't comprehend - not just the Force, but also the bonds they forge with others around them. An Empire built on love and respect, rather than fear and hatred. Of course, such a thing would eventually cease to be an Empire... It is better to be loved and respected than feared and loathed.
@@yeehaw9411 Well, it's long been established that to much of the galaxy at large, the difference between Jedi and Sith is largely semantics and are often viewed as two bickering factions of the same larger entity. Who is in charge means very little to the common man, all they know is that when these two groups inevitably come into conflict, the whole galaxy is dragged into war. And contrary to what the Jedi would tell you, the Sith aren't always the instigators of said war. Simply put, the soldier doesn't give a shit why the Sith does what he does.
Only need to add :"As fathe... sorry wrong line. As Master and apprentice" Well... He managed to defeat her without cutting of her hand... Probably that's why it worked.
“No I’m sure you’re here to play Pizack.” “...No..but what if I countered that jest with a y e s?” *Whips out giant stack of card with red glowing eyes* * __ *
Jessa walks in on the sith and her master on their 40th round and 100,000 credits on the pot. Sith: are you scared jedi Jedi: Never! Sith: then quit stalling unless you want to raise.
I remember reading a comic about a businessman that was interested in the dark arts and turned into a sith lord. Did his eyes turned yellow? If I remember correctly, yes. How did he die? By old age and surrounded by his family and loved ones. His crimes? None. His legacy? Created some sort a library for others with the same interests on the dark arts, guiding them in a more intelectual way. This part of the dark side amazes me! As a casual fan, I always believed that the jedi are good and sith bad, end of story. But the more you dive into the lore, the more you see how corrupt the system can be, the more you found out more about both sides, the good and the bad, sith or jedi. Things like these should be explored more in the movies, because so far for me nothing topped more than Darth Vader having a change of heart and saving Luke from Palpatine. But hey, sorry for my rambling, hope I can play this game dive deep into the lore.
To be fair his work did give others of his order the tools to use the dark side in more aggressive ways. Even if he wasn't violent himself he still furthered the learning of the darkside.
@@georgigs if Im correct this character of yours blew up a couple years back didnt it, its actually got me intrested in SWTOR though sadly cant play it myself
Playing a light side Sith was actually really fun. Especially when it came to pissing off darth Baras. But Boy was it fucking crazy how quick the jedi were to attack you like you'd say no no I'm a sith but I'm also A good guy. They be like no I don't believe you attack. I'm just sitting there like what the fuck man. I thought jedi were supposed to look for a non violent resolution to every issue. Pretty ironic when a Sith acts more like a jedi than the jedi do
@Mister Majestic yah I mean I get it sith like to decieve all the time I mean there is a trailer called that for this very game. But God damn I was happy when that one jedi you meet multiple times believed you and seemed to want offer you a chance into the jedi. Frankly I have always likes stories of traditional lly evil characters overcoming their nature and becoming good. Like with Lord Pravin you as a jedi knight can offer to have him accepted as a jedi despite being of the sith species and faction
@@dragonhatcher12 I don't view him as evil though. He is honorable warrior who follows the traditions, also he never showed himself as an egoist, in fact, he even Gates attacking deffenseless, seeing that it shows no real purpose, something not so many of the Sith would show. Plus he respects our character and when we give him an opportunity, he says that he is impressed with how they can welcome a former rank into their ranks as if it is their Brother without any hesitation, seeing that as a strength. Also his rage is justified as his agression towards the Republic and the Jedi was built on the reason of how the Hyperspace War ended with Republic Senate ordering to commit GENOCIDE of all Purebloods and the Jedi actually SUPPORTED this crap, Praven even states that fact and believes that Republic and Jedi are the true evil, hell, he was told about that so many times, even Scorge throughout the main campaign tells us that in childhood he was constantly scared by elders of Jedi comming in to murder him if he would disobey them, the image was pretty much printed into their behavior.
@@BitrateBilly To be fair, the kinds of Jedi a Sith like the Warrior would encounter are much more likely to be the less reasonable ones. Not to mention that Sith have, quite literally, built up a reputation of being deceitful and cunning. The Dark Side has many unnatural powers, so who is to say that one wouldn't lead to a Sith seeming to embody light while actually being the most sinister of Sith?
For years, I hated on LS SW...I could not have been more wrong. What a great playthrough. My last 4 Warriors have been LS. DS is hella fun. And quite therapeutic. But I also believe LS tells a better story
I like to play my Imperial characters as Lawfully evil if that makes sense. I always thought going full on DS made you nothing more than a rabid animal. A Sith is supposed to use his passions to deepen his connection to the force and free himself from his chains. Enslaving yourself to your passions is the exact opposite.
That depends on your interpretation of "lawful evil". The choices in SWTOR don't allow for a true LE playthrough. For my definition of LE, I'm going to back to AD&D-the early 1980's. Asmodeus was LE
DS SW is THE worst story. You are basically playing as a mentally challenged berserk who should not have survived to this point of HOW MUCH evidence of his actions he leaves. He would have been promptly executed by council
"You appear to be an agent of the Dark Side, but... it's a mask." "But Master Karr also wears a mask, and his deception is a much uglier one." This line has stuck with me since I first heard it. It's pretty good writing. I'm going to have to create a LS Warrior again soon.
To be Sith is not the Dark nor the Light to be Sith is to be free, unchained and true to yourself to live life with Passion, Love, Hate, Anger, Serenity to use that Passion to gain power so your freedom is to never be taken that is Sith
@Mister Majestic too few The allure of the Dark and the Lull of the light are quite strong. They twist your mind to be Sith is to resist the binding of anything and everything to walk in the Dark but never submit to see the light but resist it’s call. Our greatest foes are those who walk among us use our name but become slaves to the dark unable to see that as soon as they fully give in they are no longer Sith
It isn't the Dark Side that the Sith strive for. Their goals aren't about control, it's centered around Freedom: freedom of self from the chains that hold them back to not be bound by dogmas and dictations in order to choose and eke out their own destinies however they see fit. The only reason why they stand against the Jedi is due to an event in their shared past when the Sith were visited by Hyperspace explorers from the Republic and the leaders saw it as the perfect pretense to wage war to claim dominance of power: because at that same time the central leader had died and the two lieutenants were fighting a civil war. The horrors of the Great Hyperspace War lived on in the hearts of every Red Sith that was mercilessly cut down by the Jedi that saw them all as monsters: regardless of whether the Sith in-question was fighting or not, a great tragedy that would go on to breed even more bloodshed for generations to come even long after the Red Sith were finally driven to extinction. It would have been an interesting Sequel Trilogy were the main character in it was a Red Sith born in the Unknown Regions seeking out the New Republic on behalf of his people for sanctuary and amnesty from the Imperial Remnant that wanted to weaponize them and from the members of the Jedi Praxeum that had prosecuted them for the crimes of a people they never knew or were a part of. To see that Red Sith (played by John Boyega) go on a journey to become a Jedi and master the Force in order to help protect his people. I'd watch the shit out of a story like that more than whatever that Ad-Lib Tug-O-War Frankenstein Fanfic of a Trilogy Disney had signed off on.
And to achieved freedom, they needed the Dark Side? you're giving them excuses, you don't become powerful in the Dark Side without being selfish, ambitious and uncaring about life and balance. If freedom was their real goal then Light Side would have been more than enough for them. The Jedis had good reasons to seek their extinctions.
@@efaristi9737 And yet both sides have their flaws. The light side can make one Self Righteous and blind them via their inflated pride. The Jedi can be woefully dogmatic. Whereas the Dark Side is intoxicating, ESPECIALLY to former Jedi who once had to maintain strictness. Sith are often times quite self destructive as well.
In a way, the Sith do seek control, as in their eyes, not being in control is not being truly free. Another reason many Sith hate the Republic is not just because of the Great Hyperspace War and the Sith Genocide, but because of the sheer difference in their views on Religion. Jedi consider themselves free to make their own decisions, even during the Clone Wars. To them, they are a religion separated from the state, despite being their attack pets. To Sith, the state is an extension of the religion. So when they see the faults of the Republic, bureaucracy and corruption and et cetera, in their eyes they are the faults of the Jedi as well.
@@efaristi9737 the Dark Side is not evil. It is power. Only power. The real problem is that all absolute power corrupts. The Jedi's own power corrupted them as well. However, due to being simply power, individuals often are corrupted far faster than light siders are
I've always thought the Sith code did have it right. apparently something got lost in translation, and in understanding. Peace is a lie, there is only passion. "Through passion I gain strength. Through strength I gain power. Through power I gain freedom. The force will set me free." Most all Sith practitioners never get past the second part. They loose sight of the true goal which is freedom. They become slaves to power. Life death order chaos all all part of the living universe. The Force is simply a tool. It can guide, it can demand, it can refute and refuse. What is Good, and what is evil can only be known by understanding both. Part of made Revan so interesting BTW. The force demand conflict. If you are controlled by the desire for conflict however you are not free. The SIth have part of secret, the Jedi have part of the secret. They are both right, and both wrong. Gotta be Duct Tape. It's a has a light side and a dark side and it binds the universe together!
This guy is a true Sith Lord, he prioritizes freedom and life for everyone, teaching the code as it’s written and not the interpretation that most Sith use. I would like to see a meeting between him and Altair Ibn La-Ahad.
Have to make a distinction between being a Sith race and being a Sith Lord. All the Sith race people were bred out by large human population, which I actually believe is what happened with anakins connection to the force. He had a natural attunement to the dark side and I think he had recessed genes from the ancient Sith race genes stuck in humans
I can see her being interested in him. He ain't a typical Sith and makes his own choice, something she always values and is capable of folowing his own path, in that case even against the phylosophy of his own teachings, basically showing that he is not a slave to his teachings.
She probably would have applauded him for being consistent in his beliefs as a light sider. She would have lambasted him for being too goody-two-shoes. And she would have at least an interest in him for going against his own people. Kreia was all about being consistent to oneself. Being true to oneself, because above all else she detested in her own words "...the betrayal of the self".
When I started playing SWTOR at launch in 2011 I didn't even consider the possibility of going light side as Empire characters, so I made all of my characters on the Republic side. Then, in 2019 I came back to the game and started an Inquisitor and decided to go the light side route, and it's honestly one of the most engrossing video game experiences I've had. I especially love the fact that the Inquisitor isn't a defector, but a reformer who wants to change rather than bring down the Empire so that it'll survive in the long term.
I always really liked the Sith Empire of the Great Galactic War. They were not fake in the slightest about who and what they are, yet they maintained a highly mutually beneficial relationship with their subjects. They understood fully that the stronger and more prosperous their Empire was, the more power the Sith had at their disposal. This is, I think, the reason for why their subjects were staunchly loyal. Sure, in the game they clearly fear punishment for disloyalty but they also strike as very genuinely loyal and proud to serve the Sith. Considering their culture is very similar to Sith culture, it therefore is logical that they benefit from this relationship quite a lot to earn such loyalty. I especially like how your character can be light or dark yet remain with the light or dark side of the Force regardless of personality. It shows far deeper complexity to the Force than the movies. There you are, a Sith, clearly using the Dark Side exclusively yet with a Light Side nature. It brings the value of choice into play and that the Sith and Jedi may well both be wrong regarding emotions even being related to the Force at all.
I always played middle of the road with Sith, never outright evil, only killing when the game gives me no choice, or if someone pissed me off. Then flirting flagrantly with Vette.
Reminds me of when I played through as a jedi consular pureblood sith. In flashpoints, always going for the evil option. When people asked why, I would just say. "I am Sith!"
nice to see this game isnt completely dead, though been almost a year since I played old republic... but I had a pureblood sith jedi who was pure light side. she only did good choices, course I also had a trooper character- who was "a soldier" and... I guess it's ture "a good soldier follows orders" as I played him- he ALWAYS followed orders of his superiors regardless, and.... yea.... he kinda ended up being bit dark side
My first time playing this game I wanted to be evil so badly. To finally play the bad guy was so exciting. But now I know this game is more than being good guy/bad guy and more be who you want to be. I wish I knew that going in as I tried doing every evil thing I could
In fact, the dark side is not only anger and emotions. Vishate is a great example of the dark side. He didn't do evil because the dark side. He did what he wanted to do.
Sometimes I remember when my LS Sith Juggernaut fought Jaesa in the game. I imagine him deflecting all of her strikes and attacks with his defense. Only to cut her lightsaber in half with only one working half of it. And when she attacks again, my Juggernaut just redirects her attacks to the point of disarming her completely, then holding his bade at her neck only to deactivate his lightsaber.
Any Paladin would say that's corrupted nonsense. Like needing fire to fight fire. No, you fight fire with water. Neutralize but don't stoop to the same level.
"No, I'm sure you're here to play Pazaak." Me: I actually have a deck of cards... If you want, I mean, nothing stated that we can't spend time on playing card games, so... Wanna go for the interest or bet on credits?
Sending him back to the Jedi never sat right with me, I get the humiliation of having one of their own exposed, but from a die-hard Empire loyalist, it's a tough pill to swallow.
I miss this game. I used to play on the most jank setup known to man. I had a laptop that could barely run the game with medium graphics settings but only if I set it on a bunch of books on a box fan on a bunch of books on my bed with a monitor and everything hooked up to it like it was a PC.
That entire scene was too much... exactly what i wanted my Light Side Sith to get at the end of his journey. reveal a bad jedi, prove himself to be good and just dab on all the Sith. lol
Karr was a big hypocrite, but he was right about one thing. Spoiler if you somehow haven't played Sith Warrior Story 6:23 Baras was the real enemy the whole time.
Quick question, between a bright red crystal, a purple crystal and a dark blue crystal, which one would match the "Executionner's Maw" lightsaber the best (it's for a light side Sith).
