Way back when I first got my table saw, I knew I needed a push-stick. Of course, at the time, I was more interested in whatever it was I happened to be making than a sacrificial little stick, so I just notched a 1x4 scrap and told myself I'd make a better one later.
Well, that was something like 16 years ago. And I'm still using that scrap of 1x4. Don't worry; I am suitably embarrassed.
Anyway, I was cutting some cedar for a simple knife-block project I'm working on (which will probably be my next video), and for some reason I decided that it was finally the day to do better.
I didn't do anything revolutionary, or even clever. I just cut chunk of plywood into a push-stick-like shape. I took the extra five minutes to clean up the rough edges on the belt sander and round over the touchy edges with a router, because, hey, I've got a RU-vid channel now, I have to keep up appearances.
And then off-camera I made a spare.
That's it. Push sticks done. I'll burn the old one and we'll never speak of it again.
