If you are feeling down, blue, or heavy, perhaps this Qigong routine can help! This is a simple Qigong (Chi Kung, Qi Gong, Ki Gong) routine that is centred around the exercise "Wild Goose Flying."

This is a short, simple, and easy routine that is great for beginners, seniors, and those who have aches, pains, and injuries but it certainly can be helpful if you are just feeling as if you need to be "uplifted."
If you experience depression, you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), or you just feel down from time to time it's important to have a variety of tools to help you help yourself.
There are times when we need professional help, medication, or supplementation but if we can help boost our energy, immune system, qi, and optimize our brain chemistry on our own - that's fantastic!
Qigong is a wonderful tool to use to help yourself :)
As you probably already know - Qigong is a gentle exercise, similar to Tai Chi but easier to practice and more focused on building the health, healing the body, and slowing down the aging process.
It is like a moving meditation.
There are many different forms of Qigong, the most important aspect is finding a style that suits you.
In this video, we discuss the exercise "Wild Goose Flying." It's a very common Qigong practice that is found in routines such as the ShiBashi (that is in the Communi Qi) and there are many variations of it.
Just practice along and try to increase your range of motion gently over time. Breathe, visualize, relax, and allow your qi to move smoothly!
This series is excellent for lifting the energy, brightening the mood, and it might even put a smile on your face :)

I was suffering from Anemia and discovered you and QiGong which I integrated into my walks in the forest with my Dog...the result was absolute Magic...I am now healthy and skipping along often during the walk ,feeling elated and energized like in my childhood...at 70 I’m literally savoring every moment...Thank you..MrChand

I wasn't sure whether I wanted to do some physical exercise or meditation, so this was perfect---combined both. And your sense of humor enables me to just enjoy and not worry whether I am doing a movement "wrong." It's so good to not take oneself too seriously even when doing something so serious as trying to improve health and enhance vitality and just be in the momnet,

A brilliant sequence. Thanks Jeff. Beautifully lead, introduced and with a nice touch of humour. I was talking with a chiropracter friend who talked about listening to the body. More and more I find this is what happens with qi gong. I might start off a session 'trying to do something' this now shifts when I shift to listening to the breath, to the body ( and not my thoughts which take me away into some fantasy about the day). What a relief. And qi gong helps enjoying life, relaxes allowing more prescence, being here quietly and delightfully, even when some things are tough. Thank you.

I find this routine relaxing and stimulating at the same time. I also imagine that I am a great dragon flying over the land and through the mountains. I also see myself flying through the Grand Canyon. Dragons, to me are courage and strength. In my mind, they are beautiful and graceful.I really wish I had one.... or two.

Thank you for this lovely routine. Tonight, my first time trying this routine, it felt calming and pleasant. I will do this frequently and experiment to see the effect it has on my mood when I am really feeling the need for uplifting. I imagined myself as a great white swan.

Hi Jeff, I am working from home during the pandemic and I get moody and times and don't want to work. I feel it helps me to do qigong. I just did this routine and will observe how I feel afterwards. I think the movement of the bird flying is beautiful and like to move my body with that kind of flow.

I love these videos--thank you for them. I was doing this exercise while looking out at a lake. It's windy and I watched a white heron struggle to fly against the strong wind. I think I was flying more gracefully than he was :-).

Thanks Jeff! I can’t wait to try this out with my triplets :) I am doing Qi gong since being pregnant with them and I am loving it and so are they. Again a very wonderful exercise. I know this exercise already for a lot of years, but forgot it for a longer while. I am really happy that you brought it back to me. I imagined to fly like a swan - nice picture and impression! I need to take a little bit more attention on my knees while bending them. If I bend them down very straight, like sitting down on a chair, there is a tendence to shift the weight to much backwards on the heels and I stop standing really well centered on my feet. I hope to be able to express this well, isnt sometimes so easy for me to explain it in english , but I mean I will improve this skill.

Over a year now learning Qi Gong with Jeff. What a treat. I'm 66, not so flexible, Qi Gong has helped with body ease, and this morning these 'exercises' felt so beautiful to do through the body with the breath...a rich thread flowing through our experience of living with the emergence of C-19. ( I don't have it, I may become infected, who knows) Qi Gong certainly helps shifting attention out of listening to thoughts to body, breath and 'flow' A big thank you Jeff. You have a fine warm, friendly, clear way of communicating Qi, and Qi Gong. Thank you. J

I’ve been following this video at least once a day for the past two weeks and I feel stronger and more energetic. I do 20 wall pushups before starting each Qigong routine to put more Yang into it.

I'm new to Qigong and I was recommended this video as one to start with. I love your approach and sense of humour...(love the wild duckling!)...though I chose a wild phoenix as apposed to a goose...flame coloured feathers for powerful energy...rising up out of dark depression. Thank you 🙏

It was a good feeling when I tuned into the bird flying movement, it'll take a little practice but that's good too because it helps me to focus :) Thanks as always.
