👏👏 I love the discussion and themes in this book. It so incredible that some of these SciFi books we read so clearly display potential futures our leaders are driving us towards and if only they would READ them maybe they would steer clear of these cautionary tales. Thanks for the shout out! I’m so glad you like this book and I’m so happy more people will pick it up.

I read the book a while back when it came out in german. And I really liked it because of all the topics and dangers it spoke about. Also I'm an INTJ and already saw the possible dangers (and solutions) before I read the book. And I like it when other people come to the same conclusions I came too and validate my thoughtprocesses this way.

10:50 So little people know, there is even a term for it, 'planned obsoletion'. Yea, this very important. I got a few ideas such as creating opportunities for people on the end of the social strata and changing the dynamics of tax distribution or implementing another system in a form charity but that would be privately owned instead of government and won't tracked and accounted for in the same manner :/ -INTJ

Appreciate that you made the distinction of characters being 7/10 yet not being a knock against them or the story since I think greater developed characters are more worthy of a higher rating, but, with more developed characters, it could take away from the stories' themes, so 7/10 lighter characterization can help with levity to make it easier to digest and allow for a wider of people to connect to and project their experiences into the characters so the cautionary tale can best reach them. Haven't read the book but if it helped you, that's interesting, since, while I think it's important to separate quality from preferences since it gives us something to strive for and shows respect to those who put the blood, sweat, and tears into their work, if the piece of fiction actually helped the person, that's more important than just being able to give an incredible analysis (although, reading/listening to that incredible analysis could help other people (I tried re-reading Lord of the Rings multiple times as an adult and lost interest, but I've loved listening and reading people analyze and discuss it). It's kind of a reason why I keep trying to get into the original Star Wars trilogy over and over again since it's influenced so many people, and I want to understand why since it didn't connect with me much outside of that scene where Luke takes the risk of him being tortured to death by the Emperor to help redeem his father, and now I'm appreciating it more and more. I don't think I'll be reading Qualityland since the people who I talk to pay attention to the news so we talk about what's going on in the world every day, but I hope it helps people. Fiction has helped me since I was a kid, and the type of fiction that has helped me might be ridiculous to a lot of people (I thought of Spongebob's happy attitude to put some pep in my step and actually sang the Spongebob theme out loud when I was alone last year for something goofy to help get out of my headspace--so I, if I understood correctly (I listened to this earlier today while multi-tasking so I might be misremembering), I appreciate the escapism component of fiction because it's helpful for mental health) so I'm not undercutting the impact of fiction on people. And seeing what kind of media people are consuming might be a helpful gauge in what's going on in the hearts and minds of the people. I don't know why something like Tiger King was so popular or why Cuties was in the top 10 trending but I would prefer something more wholesome and fun like the original Star Wars trilogy was trending to help bring all different types of people together for some fun escapism with hopefully some influence to help with spiritual warfare and encourage compassion and redemption. Thanks again. Hope you have a great weekend.

I read the book, I'm a German myself. It's really good, I hope the translation is well done. It provides a cool lens on some aspects of technology, algorithms, and dystopian implications. I would say, though, that even though the book explores these themes well and helps readers learn about them, its value is clearly on the side of entertainment and not on the side of useful future prediction.

By the way, please listen to "The Kangaroo Chronicles" narrated by the man himself, Marc-Uwe Kling. It's fun!

Oooo I remember this book was once on my tbr and somehow was forgotten. I’ll put it back on that list and hope I don’t forget again 😅. I can’t remember if its this book that is the inspiration or source material for the third season of Westworld, but anything that explores this type of near future societal stuff is interesting.

I like the subject matter that your talking about. I wonder what the algorithm says about me.🤔 I remember being quiet annoyed with how the algorithm has changed on RU-vid. I used to get more recommendations from people who made there own video's 🙂. Now I often get legacy Media😔 when I search for a certain topics like what is going on in such and such a place. I don't like legacy Media in general ietv news stations I Strong dislike there shallow takes on events and the inability to find the necessary context to understand what it means when they report something. The spin also really bothers me you can tell they're very biased by how they talk they make juments about things and the whay they report on NPR is ment to make you feel a sirten way about what there telling you. People don't seem to understand that there being manipulated though.🤦 You know you made me think about my status in society I wonder how much am I valued based on the work I do. It's not high status.🤔 There for I must not be high status.🤷‍♂️ Do you think status is more important for men than women because I do. Mean tend to occupy the highest and lowest statuses in society. 🤔

@@PsychologyandChillwMichi I actually think you might really enjoy it. It’s about the creepy/dark origins of our modern day fairytales/Disney stories.

It is not prediction of future. It is INFJ reality. The "algorithm" is Fi. AI at the top is INTJ. Robots are Ne-Te. Just like everybody else, INFJs all write the same script over and over again. It is about main character, surrounded by robots or soldiers (Ne-Te), and he has to figure out, how to solve some technical problem (Te blindspot). Just like INFJ Karel Čapek, who invented the word robot (RUR), or INFJ Isaac Assimov, who is famous for his robot stories. There is a reason, why Tes often can relate to robots, aliens or other masked characters in fiction. They are all Tes. And all the "dystopian" stuff, is basically how we, Tes treat Fes on daily basis. We do tell them what they like and don't like. We do prescribe them their role in society. What they don't understand, is that we only reflect their own behavior, just like they do ours. When Fes want to force us to follow some societal roles, it is because we do it to them on much larger scale.
