Daniel Craig really took the myth of Bond created before him and made it his own. Many actors have played Bond in whatever way they saw fit. But think Craig really gave it the deep character the series of films need...but just my opinion
I've seen them all since the franchise began, and Craig is BY FAR my favorite Bond. JB was never supposed to be a polished upper class Englishman. He does a great job with it!
Eh, only for a few select movies in his run, the first being the standout. He was a mediocre Bond overall despite being a brilliant actor himself thanks to the horrible generic writing (and then 'current day-ism' politics) that plagued his films.
The scene with the ropes gives me anxiety, NGL. I used to be an avid rock-climber in my 20s (many years ago), and I was relatively (perhaps stupidly) fearless. However, I always had these recurring nightmares and daydreams/visions in which I’d somehow end up with a loop of rope caught ‘round mi ankle as another member of my team below me fell, and I would be trapped, suspended upside down by my ankle, my all my muscles tight to keep circulation flowing down out of my legs, until my endurance runs out, and I relax all muscles in my body, causing the blood to flow to my neck and head, fracturing my uppermost vertebra, and eventually causing my brain to swell until I I burst a vessel in my brain. These dreams came out of nowhere, in my early 20s. I gave up that particular pastime several months later.
What M said to Bond about Vesper: that she DID love him, and that she traded the money-and ultimately her life-to save James. Mathis verified that to Bond in his dying moments.
He was going to shoot Camille in the burning hotel. The only reason he didn't was because a panel fell off and revealed one of the heaters and he realized he can use that to blow out the wall and get her out.
Last scene with couple on couch that agent was played by Stana Katic from "Castle" series (Kate Beckett ~ 8 seasons 2009-2016), lead actor in "Absentia" series (Emily Byrne ~ 3 seasons 2017-2020) , movies: "Stiletto" (2008) as Raina Mavias , "The Spirit" (2008) as Morgenstern , and movie "The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice" (2008) as Simone Renoir.
True...I grew up watching the Pierce Brosnan era. Thought I'd never like another Bond but I just love poker and Casino Royale really got my attention when it came out haha
M had told Bond that Vesper had made a deal to spare his life when he was being tortured. She was to steal the winnings from Casino Royale so that Bond could live cause she truly cared for him. Bond had thought she was just a lying double-crosser. So he learned the truth from the guy at the end who had the other half of Vesper's necklace. And the Craig Bond movies are really good. Unlike the other Bond movies that are basically stand-alone movies...these Bond movies are very much connected with each other. It's rather kinda amazing that it took them 40+ years to decide to do an overall story line that spanned several movies. I look forward to seeing your reaction to the rest of the story.
For most Bond movies, you should enjoy the opening scene when the standard "OO7 Bond Theme" plays, then later there are music song scores which are done by artists, like Duran Duran , McCartney/Wings, Adelle , etc.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. All 5 movies are excellent and all of them are unique in their own way. Those people who criticize them just don't understand anything 😉
I think it's worth going back and watching the series from the beginning, starting with Dr No. Many were great to excellent. Some were less than stellar and also subject to the style of their time, but maybe still entertaining (including the Craig Bond films). But every Bond film contributes to the character.
This is the film that got me into the Bond franchise, so happy you're reacting to this one! On a shallower note, your smile is absolutely stunning, Blue!
Yes, great choice to watch all the movies, they create a story for Daniel Craig's James Bond, and that creates an emotional relationship with the character. And it's a fairly tragic storyline, so the emotional connection with him matters.
The girl at the end was an spy too. She was being scammed just like Bond was. Vesper had a necklace just like the one showed at the end. Felicitaciones por aprender español. Es una hermosa lengua.
What a sweet heart! I've never seen someone so sad about broken cherry jars! That old lady acted very well. I love how you've decided that you're into action/adventure movies even if they're old and have bad special effects or whatever. You have a spicy heart AND a sweet heart. There are many more James Bond crushes to come... they're all hunky in their own ways!! I agree this Bond smashes into a lot of stuff, and I can't wait to see how you compare that behavior to other versions of Bond. My take is that these writers wanted this Bond to be young and strong, but inexperienced and fallible.
The Daniel Craig Bond movies are basically the only ones that are more or less interconnected. All the classic Bond movies are standalone stories, as far as I know.
This one was made during scenarists strike in Holywood. It was development hell. The most chaotic / lesser clear of all Craig's . So enjoy the nexts ;)
Like always, your reactions are great and fun. I like this movie too. Skyfall is my favorite Daniel Craig, but I think all of his are good. He gets beat to hell more than all the other Bonds combined.
Olga Kurylenko is one of my favorite actresses, she doesn't get nearly the credit she deserves. The theme for this one, Another Way To Die by Alicia Keys and Jack White is my favorite of the Craig Bond movie themes. And then the whole connection this movie makes to the series... it's under-appreciated in the Craig films. You'll love Skyfall.
lol Blue's attraction to d-bag characters is hilarious. I watched this after watching her F&F Tokyo Drift reaction where she loves DK, d-bag supreme. Lol at least she is consistent.
Just after 32 minutes, you mention the young lady in the white dress, that's Oona Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, also in Game of Thrones and other stuff.
This one does get a lot of hate and considered one of the weaker entries in the Daniel Craig era, in no small part due to a writer's strike that started just before shooting began and they had to shoot with the draft they had and improv any sort of notes or changes. Director Mark Forster, a low-budget indie director helming a big franchise movie for the first time, took a lot of criticism for over-reliance on shaky-cam and quick-cuts during the action scenes, but I loved how he made them artsy montages, intercutting with the horse race and the opera. Personally, I liked it, I loved how it picked up RIGHT after Casino Royale and gave us some more closure for Vesper. CR is still probably the strongest one, Skyfall is good but I think it's just a little over-rated, SPECTRE is *the* weakest one, No Time To Die is an excellent, if controversial finale.
I'm so happy to see more James Bond reactions on your channel. :) GoldenEye from 1995 would probably be a successful one, if you ever decided to react to that movie.
I'm psyched for you! I love the Bond franchise, especially the Daniel Craig ones! Keep going! You will continue to fall in love with Bond. By the way, you should revisit the end of Casino Royale to reacquaint yourself with the way "The Vesper question" was left, at the end. I like that they closed the loop on that plot thread, in this film. This film is more or less Casino Royale part 2, you know? great stuff!
This one lacks a strong plot - it's just action, all the way. The earlier Bond movies are great fun but (with a few notable exceptions) are essentially action romps, with big stunts and lots of humour. Craig's Bond films,on the other hand, have more substance, and are (comparatively!) down to earth. Looking forward to your reaction to Skyfall (one of my personal favs)
This really has nothing to do with James Bond, but the actor who plays the guy that got tripped by Fields and falls down the stairs was in the Why We Fight episode of Band Of Brothers. He played the Jewish man that Winters and Liebgott were talking to when they first liberated the concentration camp they found.
Never was a fan of him as James Bond. Felt more like a generic Mission Impossible/Bourne type rather than 007. Olga Kurylenko is a celeb crush of mine. Wish she'd get more status in Hollywood and do some more leading films. First saw her in Hitman and was in awe of her beauty. 🥰 I wonder if she can do comedy? 🤔
It's not just your channel, but all of the Homies...I would like to see the reaction, but what is being reacted to. I've seen it done with other channels. Please consider doing it.
I like that one best out of all Bond movies. Strongest "Bond girl", half realistic evil corporate villain in cahoots with Americans screwing some third world honest folk, as they do Scene where Mathis dies is essence of Bond's psychology. In other Bonds after this one they start delving into fantasy of impossible organizations, hacks... If they keep going in that direction they might as well merge with F&F.
Blue, please have your editor turn down the gain on your microphone, if we can hear the movie then your voice is way too loud, otherwise you are doing an excellent job.
39:14 Now who's dark? 😄 I've only seen this movie once, in the theater and like others have said, the writer's strike didn't help it, but still entertaining
When done right,... but it wasn't done right. Every action scene was frustrating in the worst way as it became a struggle just to identify where anyone was, and somethings even who was who. If I wanted to watch something one frame at a time, I'd read a comic book, cuz then I could at least take in each image before moving to the next. And that's not even mentioning the plot. I've been an almost nauseating defender of every single James Bond film up to this point... but this one I simply cannot defend.
I love Quantum, my second Daniel Craig Bond film. Here is a little video for understanding the good and the bad in this movie ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OuHUdyCydaE.html
I always liked that Bond didn't bone the main girl in this one. It shows that an effort was made to make modern Bond more believable. He builds an actual uh "bond" with Vesper in Casino Royale and White's daughter in Spectre, which shows that he can be portrayed as an actual human being with real emotions. Old Bond films are fun but the romance is often poorly written.
I hated the editing in this one. The quick cuts really hurt my head, especially in the theater. But now that I've had like 15 years to cool down, otherwise it's not that bad.
This was not one of my favorite Bond movies. I think there was a weriters' strike at the time and the script wasn't polished. My favorite James Bond was Sean Connery.
I can't bare this! You don't shut up on important bits, nervously laugh at anything or someone that's attractive to you... and then complain you "are confused". Sorry kid this is unwatchable.
The homies got over 2K views in an hour, cause they watch good stuff. Then there’s you getting barely over 500 in an hour, cause you don’t know how to pick anything good. And when you do pick something good, you absolutely butcher it like you did with the Rocky franchise. It’s been very frustrating lately watching you ruin any good thing that you get going.
