I spent a summer in the hell hole of an AT 6. Imagine having a tiny light, small jar of zinc chromatic paint and a dentist mirror painting everything. This AT 6 was special. Converted to a Zero. It was the lead Zero in the movie Torra Torra Torra, 101.
First! Some day, a Queenie will be mine. I already have permission from Secretary of War Director of Domestic Finance lol. For now, Le Baron will suffice. We always love your videos
We had a Queen Air that crashed while bringing back a load of customers after fishing in Chihuahua Mexico. It had geared engines and they were giving us problems. We couldn’t get the NTSB down their to investigate so we never found out the cause of the crash. The airplane flew into bad weather after departure. A citation that followed us out of the same departure airport also crashed. Both planes were from Oklahoma City. I think someone may have sabatoged both airplanes. One of the propeller blades from our airplane was found 5 miles from the crash site in the mountains. Be careful with those engines!
@@KerryDMcCauley Yes, I agree. We never knew what the cause of the accident was. We fought with the FAA and NTSB to get their asses down there to do an investigation, but they said they were not given permission to to do the investigation because the Mexican FAA was doing it. Complete BS. The pilot and several passengers lived, miraculously, but they were hurt bad. The airplane came down in the mountains and villagers loaded up the survivors in carts and donkeys pulled them off the mountain.
Great video Kerry! You always think oh I don’t need or use electric trim that much until you are in a plane that it doesn’t work or just downright doesn’t exist! 😂Then you are right every 10-15 seconds you have to trim it up or down again and again and again! 😂 😑 Also I’ve heard of a lot of aircraft in my life but what is a Queen Air? Is it an earlier variant or like predecessor to the original King Air design? Like the C90 types not the T-tail Super King Air’s I mean, those King Air’s suck but I digress. 😅 Let me know also are you going to Oshkosh this year? 2024? I’d love to maybe meet you there that’d be a HUGE HIGHLIGHT for me! 😅
Yes, the Queen Air was the predecessor of the King Air. It uses the same wing as the Twin Bonanza and was such a good airframe Beechcraft hung turbine engines on it and called it the King Air. Both the Army and Air Force had a bunch of them. Very rugged and capable aircraft. I do plan on going to Oshkosh and will be posting updates here! Love to meet you!
Kerry, That's no ordinary B-65. It looks like you have the Lycoming 720 conversion with 400 hp a side, sure better than the 340 hp, IGSO-480. So how does it perform compared to the stock 65, i.e. cruise speeds, climb, etc. At least you can get parts for the 720s. Yeah it's a big airplane, can you say King Air 90 without PT-6s and no blown cabin.
@@KerryDMcCauley With four cylinders on one side of the engine and the low set, slimer nacelles, it had to be the Ed Swearingen conversion. Excalibur also put Lyc 720s on D50's, too. So what's your IAS cruise speed at say 10,000', 60% power and fuel flow.
Queen Air looks great! Multi training can be misleading I hope that Conner checks out this video before flying the Queen Air or any higher performance twin. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VcEg39NmxY4.html
What’s the range on the queen mate I have a piper Cheftion 350 hp each side and was thinking to upgrade to the queen I’ll love the king but out of my price range 👍👍👍
It's about 900 NM with a 45 min reserve. 2300 lb useful load, top speed, 190 kts @ 48 gph. I've flown the Cheftion and it's a good plane but I like the Queen Air more.
