Heard of quiet quitting in the workplace?
It's basically doing the bare minimum at your job, or in some cases doing nothing.
Employees have a lot of legitimate complaints about treatment in the workplace. Employers have been squeezing workers, taking, and stealing for years.
Fed up employees have led to the advent of quiet quitting becoming popular.
I encourage people to think about what they are doing though, because the costs may outweigh any perceived benefits.
Can you be fired for quiet quitting? Absolutely. Florida is an at-will state where employers can fire employees for any reason not prohibited by law.
Doing the absolute minimum, or avoiding all work duties altogether, is enough to justify a termination.
That being said - the true cost is personal. Labor and employment is more than just the contract between employer and employee. We gain confidence, feel good, and sleep easier when we put in a good days work and know we provide value.
When you 'quiet quit' and purposefully slack off, you may be doing more harm than good to your psyche.
If things are that bad, life is too short, get out - go find a workplace you can thrive in.
