Story 1: So the OP was raped as a child and the was forced to marry her rapist. The her father still blamed her; now she's feeling guilty for leaving. Whatever church she was raised in was a cult. I am devoutly Christian and I would have had that man prosecuted and put under the jail for doing that to my daughter.

Thank you for that update. I'm happy to know she's getting away. It'll be scary, but better than being stuck under the thumb of all of the toxic men in her life. I wish her all the luck and love she didn't have before making this drastic call.
Not going to lie, the one incident where the son… got off… on hurting his own mother gave me severe chills. It made me think how he would have definitely escalated the abuse if she didn’t ran away as soon as possible. OP definitely made the right call on getting out of that situation despite everyone being against her.
This story is why I decided that even though my ex swore to me I’d never see my kids if I left him, I knew I had to go. He didn’t hit me, but he had a volatile temper and would throw things and punch holes in the wall. My kids weren’t listening to me, and I knew that my staying was teaching them it was okay to mistreat women. If Dad didn’t respect me, why should they? I did get custody of them because my parents helped me get a lawyer, but it was over three years before it was settled.
The worst part is that we didn't even knew what he did when he stopped pinning her , did he feel remorse for thinking this way about his mom let alone women in general or did he do the other thing

@josephnorris4095 What do you disagree with? The church is well known for oppression of women. Ephesians 5:22-33 demands submission to a husband. The only argument against this is "well its praising women!" And "God loves women so he can't do that!" But both are nebulous arguments that don't mean anything in reality. Many things that honor women don't actually treat them with respect (example would be nazi Germany). And "gods love" for any gender is completely unprovable and even in the story of creation eve is far more an after through and frequently blamed for the fall of humanity.

Technically, the husband didn’t just say that he’d grow out of it: he said he’d grow out of it once he had a wife of his own, implying he’ll stop abusing his mother once he starts focusing his abuse on his wife.
Someone pulled this off because the abuse was notorious and the jury nullified the charges. She only ended her husband because no offspring lived in the house.
There was one like this, made into a movie "The Burning Bed." When John Kasich was governor of Ohio, he granted clemency to someone serving life in prison for killing her abusive ex.
Story 1; She's in actual, immediate danger and needs the authorities to intervene. She needs a new name, a new number and all new people in her life and to move far, far away. I'm GENUINELY terrified for her because I know someone who was OP and she's dead now; her name was Alexis Sharkey and her husband started off as just abusive before he strangled her before leaving her on the side of the road. Yeah I dated a woman once who was part Roma ... "The g-word" is basically a slur. In parts of Europe it's almost like the "N-word", because the discrimination is almost as bad, and it hasn't gotten too much better in most parts. Kinda weird that she'd call herself that.
I know a few Roma. It seems to be a split opinion. Some see it a slur, but others don't care. I'll admit that I'm not sure if the ones who don't care are apathetic due to being used to hearing people use gypsy and they've normalized it or if they just genuinely don't care.

The g-word is as much a slur nowadays as is the n-word among the balcks of the US. First story: That son is on a path to either being stabbed by a gf/wife who decides they won't take that crap, or beaten with a blunt object by the father of said gf/wife. I don't see him surviving in this world very long, and I have no doubt that when it happens, the husband/dad is going to blame OP for it.
That son is in a community that appears to hold the same views. If the contagion is in the church, you can be pretty confident the entire community is infected with that particular mind virus. Unless his community experiences a sudden and rapid progressive shift, or he moves somewhere else, he's probably going to end up just like his dad.
Children model the behavior of their parents. Children in abusive homes don’t typically abuse a parent, but he might be doing it to curry favor with the dad. I suspect that’s why he’s his mini me. He’ll end up finding another subservient woman from their screwed up church, assuming he stays out of jail, and the cycle will continue.
Story 1: this man went out of his way at 27 to ruin a 17 year old’s life. I don’t understand why he hates her so much, but for some reason he chose her to torture from the get go and prolong her abuse by teaching his son that this is the appropriate way to treat a woman. Just sad.
i think that OP's monstrous husband hates her because he was forced to marry her. he most likely saw her as nothing more than a hole to fuck and was pissed that he now had to support her and his child. he wanted a fuck but then he got a wife and kid out of it. and he blamed her for that. so thats where i think the abuse came from. but maybe i'm wrong. maybe he would have beaten his wife no matter why they got married. but poor OP. i'm glad she's out of that now.
Some men love to take a beautiful creature & destroy them bit by bit, they love to see their handiwork, often remembering who their wife was before & be proud of how much they've "humbled" or "destroyed" them. That's possible but I imagine it's the other way around. She went to the doctor and described how she felt all the time- but didn't describe her environment that was making her feel that way. The doctor gets her anxiety/depression meds or whatever that she doesn't need, being none the wiser that this woman would get better if she wasn't living with a monster. Story 1 is straight horror movie material. Also a textbook example of how abusive patterns get passed on; the son is quickly becoming irredeemable, and it's not even his fault.
Story 1: I saw a documentary about a country in Asia, either Japan or South Korea when victims of abuse contact an underground network of rescuers who secretly take them out of such situations and change their identities. I hope such a thing would be available to someone like OP who is surrounded by horrible men.
I saw that too, it was Japan. It's apparently quite difficult to get divorced in Japan if one of the spouses doesn't want to get divorced. You need a lot of money to hire an investigator to prove infidelity and/or abuse (physical, financial, etc) to make it easier to divorce, which many of the victims don't have. And also quite difficult for the mother to get custody if she wasn't earning a liveable income during the marriage. That's where the underground association comes in.
1st Story: So OP is drugged and S.A. and get pregnant because if it and the fathers response is to force her to marry him. The f? I think the worst part is the son though... OP said he was hard when he pinned her down and beat her. Then, when he discovered where she lived he was yelling at her for, "Not loving him like he loved her. It does say that if a man "takes hold" of an unbetrothed virgin and "lays with" her, he needs to pay father his dues and take her as a wife. However, a few verses up, it says it talks about if a man "forces" a woman to lay with him, he's stoned. Granted, that's a betrothed woman, but still, the key word there is "forced."

Probably the worst thing I've ever seen in my life was my stepfather beating my mom over the head with a cane when I was 8. The way I saw multiple men treat women while growing up made me question being male. These people need to get help.
Title story: You know its bad when you just start the story and realize the age gap (10 years) and the fact they met when she was 16. Also YIKES- her father is shitty too for saying that her husband beating her is her punishment for ”pre-marital s*x”. Done with the story and holy- the whole family is AWFUL- I know the mom was medicated but her going "My husband beat me but I didn't leave you” is just- lady, custody agreements exist. OP didn't failed as a woman, everyone else failed her as a father/husband/son.
Story 1: I would not begrudge OP at all if she wanted to slyly let slip info about the entire family, and for the family to get majorly called out by the internet over this. It would be karmic justice for all of those men to get just a TASTE of what they put this poor woman through her whole life.
If they did find the story and was able to link it to OP, they would likely continue to view her as a coward and “not a real woman”. I think the less of a spotlight OP can create the better. If anything, it will help keep them from finding where she now lives.
That’s called doxxing, and depending on the jurisdiction, it or subsequent harassment or violence may be a prosecutable offense. I’d consult a lawyer, or at the very least r/LegalAdvice, before doing something like that.

Story 3: Deriving "you're trying to tell me how to parent" from what OP said, requires all the stretches, turns and terpsichores Howard Wallowitz had to do in order to not have the floorboards in his kids' bedroom squeak. The fact that Morgan's mum immediately jumped to that conclusion means that deep down even she knows what she was doing is wrong and ridiculous.
Last story: if this was a one-off event, then maybe I'd agree with a 1.5/5 buttholes rating, but I suspect that this isn't the only time that another kid gets favored, so if that's the case, it's more like a 2.5/5 buttholes rating
I feel like I've scrolled through a lot of comments and not a single person has brought up the fact that the 17-year-old son is getting turned on by hitting his mom. My stomach was already churning from the story, and that made me want to throw up. It's a telltale sign that one day he might be a serial killer or something. I'm so glad she got away for now and I hope that the authorities get involved and she lives a safe life and gets the help she needs. I'm so proud of her

It disturbed me when OP revealed her husband GOT OFF on beating her. As far as I know there is one, VERY SPECIFIC, scenario where that’s okay, said scenario requires consent, and this is extremely far-removed from that scenario. OP should run.
I come from a family that believes in psychic abilities, but not a single one of us would accuse a spouse of cheating solely based off another person's words, psychic or otherwise. Aside from the fact it wouldn't hold up in court, people can be wrong or straight up liars.
I hope OP will go to another state or city far away from her former place of residence, change her number and name. There is nothing else left in my opinion. She needs to start from scratch because there is nothing to go back to in this case.

Story 1: Genuinely if OP were to show up to a trial for 'murdering' her husband and son, I'd vote not guilty so long as they press the murder angle. I'm gonna guess these people claim to be religious(english speaking so probably christian), but I highly doubt they'll enter heaven. Story 2: It seems like it took almost a year before the STBE turned around and believed he wasn't cheating... However there is the problem that she _STILL_ isn't believing her husband over other people, I don't think she even mentioned cutting off that 'psychic friend' who's just a scammer. Story 2 The parents smells like well off/ rich family, people who are less trusting / paranoia of others (not saying unjustified in some case but it can really make people paranoid). Why do i say well off? Because a private eye cost a LOT of money, especially over a long period. Add to this the whole, "we will pay 25% down payment" ... But that also means they are very susceptible to any type of accusation/slander/rumor. OPs wife probably grew up in this culture of distrust and when a long term friend said something, well, that trumps short term husband + paranoia. Now, OP is better off without this ex-wife because if it all it takes is a single accusation, well, imagine when OP has kids with her. Yoink, bye kids... daddy has been accused of something without a shred of evidence and that is all we need to dump his ass!

I think it’s extreme to call it a cult, when growing up in the Bible Belt you see countless families like the 1st story. The religion and it’s ideology are the root of her issues.
Story 1: the abuse is obvious but one detail isn’t, what is the wife taking, why is the wife taking it, and what doctor/psychiatrist approved such a high dose that their patient is a “zombie”? Every psychiatrist I’ve ever dealt with has spoken to me face to face on a monthly to bi/tri-monthly basis. If they saw a zombie responding, they would Immediately stop the medication. I think the husband is drugging her or giving her his own prescriptions. I’d guess he’s giving his wife his antipsychotics but I don’t have any evidence other than the parents’ contrasting behavior.

story 1: Yeah this is just...wow...this is terrible all around. So terrible I don't even know where to begin with the mess that is OPs life and family. For starters I don't doubt that her son is going to end up jail one way or another. This is a monster in the making if he's willing not just to lay hands on his mother but was going to do...THAT. Story 2: As a person who is Romani, palm reading is more often than not (from my extended family atleast) a scam. Tarot reading is slightly more trustworthy due to the lack of being able to manipulate the results. A palm reader can say ANYTHING about your palm lines, but it's a bit hard to lie about what cards mean.
While I think going to seeing a psychic would be fun at the fair, there's no way I'd take it all that serious. I'd need a whole stack of evidence before I accused my partner of cheating.

But, yeah you are right, Romani is the full word but many people of that descent say Roma for short, similar to how Jewish people shortened to Jew over time for convenience or (a bad example but one i can think of where a word is shortened for convenience) The word “faggot” gets shortened to “fag” many times

For the "psychic" story, OP is right: Roma people generally don't like the word gypsy. They consider it a slur. Most people who call themselves gypsies are not even Roma. They think that by claiming that title, it makes them sound more mysterious. This would have been my first clue that the friend was both bullshit and trouble.
In story 1 OP is lucky she escaped alive. In a lot of cases of abused women they're the most vulnerable and most likely to be killed when they leave their partners. My heart goes out to her. I'm so sad so many people men and women are in horrible relationships abd on top of everything they can't seek refuge from parents or support network. I wish her the best and I hope she heals. It's the morning for me, and I almost threw up because of that first story. That first story is revolting. The dad, the son, and the father need to go to jail, and stay there.

The last story reminds me of a ProRevenge story - OP's client send him some Super Bowl tickets to see the Niners, but OP's partner steals them. So OP and his client have a plan to expose the partner and take away the business from him. I think Story 3 is somehow similar to that ProRevenge story. You can't take away the gift from the supposed receiver, and OP's upset is totally understandable and justified. He's in the clear and NTA.
Story 1 is so... so terrible. I hope OP gets very, VERY far away from the monsters in her life. Her father, her "husband" and her "son". I'm sorry but that son is going to rape someone. First Story: I cant stand people who use their "faith" to abuse others. My family used the bible to justify all the horrible stuff i dealt with growing up. I have no contact with anyone now. Not since 2017. Moved from Ohio to Alaska and never looked back. I'm happy she left. Im sorry her own son got sucked into that disgusting behavior. He'll never have any good relationships and will be toxic and harmful to anyine he's with.
Story 2: My mom would get me gifts for my birthday and Christmas and half would be stuff she actually wanted. So she'd end up with half of my presents she originally bought me.

I know someone that had a similar experience to the second story, a "psychic" told my friends partner they were cheating, and they just believed them (seemingly with little convincing), had a very similar break and eventually after a lot of their money spent trying to prove it, they finally believed their partner. But by then he'd stopped loving her. What came out way down the line is supposedly her parents didnt like him, and paid said psychic to convince her, along with trying to bribe the private investigators she'd hired, and a whole lot more. They spent a lot of money trying to poison her against him, never found out why, up until that point they had gotten along well with the parents. Its like something just snapped in them. As bad as the whole situation was for them, they are actually grateful, dodging a massive bullet and have cut all contact with the family (supposedly so has she, after she found out what the parents did).
Story 1: Honestly I agree with Op’s husband, father and son getting 5/5 but I’d probably cut her mother some slack like 4/5 because like op said her mom was pilled out and wasn’t exactly in the right state of mind when she said what she said. I hope that op eventually presses charges against her son and husband for their countless times they assaulted and beat Op.
For the record, the slur "Gypsy" refers to multiple groups. Essentially, all Roma are gypsies, but not all gypsies are Roma. Also, some will use the slur rather than get into the details.
it wasn't really mentioned, but it also sounds like OP was being groomed while still a minor, then being forced to get married to said groomer by her own freaking parents. OP said their ages were 35 & 45, her "husband" was **10yrs** older than her. he was 26 when they met when she was only 16, 27 & 17 when pregnant/married. almost all of the men in her life were deplorable, souless, abusive, assholes. the audacoty of her own child to beat her then simultaneously cry for her to come back, calling her a bad mom for leaving. a whole-ass 18yr old beong this pathetic. OP's mom clearly doesm't habe all the information, her family all saying she's a "bad mom" for leaving when even her own kid savagely beats her, sometimes to the approval of the husband/dad. someone commented the update, so at least some good came from this and she got away. also that landlord is a G, wish more were as nice as him. organized religion is outdated and easily manipulated (just gross in general, the behavior that is perpetuated indefinitely, as well as the near constant hypocrisy). but OP's father being the matchstick that caused all this suffering, and allowing it to go on (even doing it to his own wife), he's among the reasons why a hell would exist.
It may be less upsetting for people it's not happening to, to not hear about it, but if we want it to actually STOP it's better if we hear about it, so we can help...
